If you had SGA in charlotte, you would never see SGA succeed. Which would mean that the hornets wouldn't be good and they would just turn SGA into kemba Walker
@@christiansoldier77 very incorrect. If a team wants a player to play a specific way they will develop him in that manner. That is why it's on the staff to realize the potential. This just shows the lack of research that goes into Mike’s videos these days. I’m literally watching Gary Harris play for the Orlando Magic in a playoff game right now.
And then later, saying he’s already out of his prime when he’s actually not, he instead took a different approach in a different role in Memphis compared to when he was on the Thunder.

I don't care that Wendell is gone, when Lonzo was healthy (for those couple months) there was a glimpse of the vision, but the picks were the real problem. And once Lonzo went down, it has been pretty clear that we need to move on from Vuc and DeRo. Vuc would be good on a contender. While he is streaky, he is an inside out scorer and a strong rebounder that can work when hidden on defense. But this roster is not good enough to have him as your third guy. It makes it worse that Atlanta actually have a godawful trade in that 7 year timeframe, which is the Dejounte Murray trade. Dejounte is a good player but 3 first round picks for a borderline All Star that has plunged your team into mediocrity and is on his way out after 2 years is an awful deal. And the fact that the Dejounte Murray trade allowed the Spurs to draft Wemby makes it even worse.
About Lillard and McCollum, they were best friends on the same team, similar to Francis and Mobley, so it's understandable why they waited so long to make the right move, as they didn't want to upset their star (especially since Francis declined sharply after that trade, though Mobley had some good years on the Clippers before being forced to retire). Yeah, they waited a few years too long, but I understand why they waited. They really needed to put defensive players next to Lillard and CJ, but put the likes of Allen Crabbe and an old Melo as the third option next to them, which was just awful. You can't build your team around multiple bad defenders and expect to win it all, which the 2001 Bucks were THE lesson (Allen, Cassell, Robinson, and sixth man Tim Thomas, none known for their D, all couldn't overcome Iverson and his defensive supporting cast of Mutombo, McKie, Snow, Tyrone Hill, George Lynch, etc., despite the ref controversies), as well as the D'Antoni Suns, where Nash and Amare, two terrible defenders, were the two best players (and they made their huge mistake by trading their best defender, Marion, for an old Shaq who was a defensive liability anymore. Marion would have helped in the 2010 WCF, where old Grant Hill was their best defender by a considerable margin, but not to a point where he made scoring difficult for Kobe. He then won a ring the next season on the most complete team in the league, with an elite superstar and sixth man, with numerous 3&D players to throw at LeBron and Wade, with an elite rim protector in Chandler, who was more consistent than Haywood and Dampier ever were). So yeah, I clearly understand why they waited, but having a non-defensive duo as your best players, like Lillard/CJ, Nash/Amare, Melo/Iverson, or Williams/Boozer, or even a trio like the Bucks and Mavs big three in the early 2000s, will NEVER result in championships. The saying is that defense wins championships, and the one year that LeBron's Cavs in his second run had good defense (which shows the importance of TEAM defense, as they had Kyrie, Love, and JR playing big minutes and had an undersized Tristan Thompson at center. If the Warriors had a real offensive threat at the 5 like Gasol, Bynum, Towns, Cousins, Embiid, or Jokic to make their three point shooting even more potent, Curry would have as many rings as Kobe now, even with Draymond suspended), they won the championship, and why the 04 Pistons won it despite having no true superstar (they had MUCH better chemistry than the Lakers too, with the Kobe/Shaq feud at its peak).
L take on the Jordan Poole trade. CP3 and steph had a great +/- when playing together, while Jordan played Awful in an increased role. The reason the trade looks bad now is because cp3 is obviously injury prone and the warriors suck.
What makes the Porzingis trade even worse for the Knicks was that the main goal of the trade was to clear up 2 max contract slots for 2019 Free Agency (hence why they added the bloated contracts of Courtney Lee and Tim Hardaway Jr. to the deal for an expiring Deandre Jordan). As we know, they did not get any max players and if it weren’t for firing Steve Mills and the growth of Julius Randle, this would look even worse for them.
@@oggrimes164 yes but the package they got back was terrible and the org didn’t do their due diligence in getting the right deal. They just ended up doing it as a salary dump move more than anything. Only benefits the Knicks got out of it was that they traded DSJ for Derrick Rose and that ‘21 first became Quentin Grimes, who they traded for Bojan Bogdanovic
@@hanli5416 Porzingis was out for the 2019 season anyway, would’ve had no impact on whether the Knicks got RJ or not, they had the worst record in the NBA when they traded Porzingis and held onto that title after they did.
We then signed Julius Randle over Kd and Kyrie and Randle became one of our better players in the last 20 years and with the help of Randle and the addition of Brunson we have already had the same amount of success as the nets did with those 2 players so looking back at it I’ll happily make the Porzingis trade 10/10 times
Yeah but you can't say these teams would have picked same player. Like Kobe, if Jerry didn't want him, he would have never been drafted so high. Let alone turn into same player with any other team. Eddie Jones could have filled that role easily. Fyi, Kwhy was coming home regardless. Just which side of the building.
I love a video analyzing the value of trades that don’t even give a second of consideration to the length of the contracts being traded - one of the most important factors in the trades themselves.
I was very surprised that Indiana didn't have to trade any young talent like Jarace Walker or Ben Sheppard or even Nesmith or Toppin... they got nothing
Mike, this is, in my opinion, one of your best video types. Your ranking videos and videos that include the best/worst __________ for all 30 teams are among your best ones that you ever put out. Hope you’re doing well!
What is this dude on, what an absolutely brain dead take for Memphis. Steven adams was great for them Bcs he didn’t need touches like Jonas. Don’t get the wrong I loved Jonas but Bcs he left more touches opened up for young players like bane ja and jjj to develop. Not to mention how much Memphis offense used to run through him specially for his picks. When they didn’t have him for their playoff runs it was very evident. And he’s just injured right now hes not “almost out of the league” like bro did you even try to put any effort into your video or did you just look up trades on google and check the stats of the players involved in the trades smh. You used to do quality content man this vid was just sad. Although he is right about the trey Murphy part ig.
I’m a Pelicans fan, and it broke my heart when they traded away Jrue. Seeing him go onto so much success elsewhere hurts even more. Jrue remains my all-time favorite Pelican. I still have my Holiday Pels jersey and wear it with a mix of pride and sadness. Even putting aside my own personal feelings, the trade absolutely killed the Pels, and it exposed David Griffin for the terrible executive he was.
Porzingis left Washington in sign and trade deal. The options was to loose him for free or get something, so it wasn't a bad trade. I think they had much worst trades in the past.
I can agree with your point from the butler situation , that the front office likes Tobias instead of Butler. nor even a single bit on why they traded Mikal.
I don’t think Donte Divenchenzo would be as good for the bucks now as he is for the Knicks due to the fact he’s literally playing with two college teammates that’s a different type of juice that Milwaukee would have never been able to provide for his career
My Wolves trading for Dlo has been one of the better trades in franchise history for merly shaking the roster of Wiggins that and being expted tonsave the franchise contract so bringing in bringing in Dlo a different element that brought us back to the playoffs, since the Wiggins and Dlo swap the value of the woles has drastically improved which got us ANT.
I feel like you don't understand the Poole trade. Poole had an enormous contract. Paul had a contract with only one guaranteed year. It was to clear up money because the Warriors were spending more money than every single team in the NBA and the Clippers are the only team that's remotely close. The new CBA is punishing and hinders your ability to get players, and this win. Without being a sure fire winning team, their salary absolutely needed to fall. They paid 176.8 million dollars in luxury tax. For reference, the Suns paid the 3rd most in luxury tax at 68.6 million, literally more than 100 million dollars less. Beyond all that, Poole was horrific this year. Even if he wasn't, the trade was a W due to being able to dump Paul after a year rather than paying Poole 30 million/yr for four years (including this year). Poole had one of the worst contracts in the league.
In hindsight surely philadelphias' decision to trade a first round pick to Boston in order to secure Markelle Fultz as the number 1 pick over Jason Tatum in 2017 draft, is far worse than anything to do with Jimmy Butler
The worst for Hawks wasn't Luka The worst trade for the Hawks was trading for Murray 3 first round picks. We are one of the worst def when they on the floor together. 15th def if only one is on the floor. That why the Hawks drafted PG Kobe Bupkin and tried to trade Murray.
Bridges was good before his off court drama, he's also been good since coming back. If you're gonna talk about basketball you have to seperate it from player actions. That's like saying Ja Morant was a good player before his decisions. No, Ja is still talented. You're allowed to feel a way about it, but it doesn't change player stats.
A lot of hindsight is 20/20 in this video. Just looking at how you refer to the Kawhi situation. He had 1 year left on his contract and was vocal about going to LA. They somehow snagged Demar for a 1 year rental of Kawhi. If KD doesn't tear his achilles, gsw wins and the raptors lose demar for nothing. I'm glad it panned out for Toronto but that was a bad trade.
Popovich hates the Lakers with passion, if he didn't he would've accepted Magic Johnson's *ridiculous* offer of literally half the roster (including Lonzo, Ingram and Kuzma). His bitterness got in the way of his judgement. Biggest mistake of his career
Sga for Paul George was wild not gonna lie I was happy okc took care of playoff p I didn’t want him on my team or Westbrook I knew they weren’t winning anyhting wit the warriors there …. Knowing pg and Westbrook how they play which lead to first rounds I don’t have to mention Melo cuz he’s career being erased by Brunson and jokic 🤦🏽♂️🤣I’m thankful for my gm presti is so good at what he does let’s goo okc
Some of these are just plain wrong. Steven Adams was better than Val and his rebounding and defense was what allowed JJJ to win DPOY as a help defender. Aaron Gordon being move, along with Vuc and Fournier, allowed the magic to tank the rest of that season and the next season, allowing them to draft Suggs and Paolo respectively. Jrue Holiday was an incredible trade for the Pels, Getting 4 1st round picks up until 2027 is amazing considering how volatile Milwaukee looks rn, and even if they convey to late 20's picks, jrue only had 2 years left on his contract and probably would have left in free agency. The Knicks Porzingis trade opened up so much cap space for the knicks that they were able to sign Julius Randle and Marcus Morris, who was traded for Immanuel Quickley. It also gave New York the pick that was traded for Quentin Grimes. Without trading Porzingis, the Knicks would have been stuck in mediocrity for another few years, instead of contending like they are now The Spurs Trading Kawhi for Deebo and Poeltl might have been one of the best trades out of a superstar requests out. Out of this trade they ended up with a good young player in Keldon Johnson, and 2 draft picks from underwhelming teams, CHI and TOR. This trade might end up being what builds a dynasty in SA. Raptors, Obv too early to tell, but a guy on the last year of his deal and the Raptors clearly didn't want him bc of his fit with Scottie Barnes, idk why getting 3 first round picks for him and still clearing out cap space is a bad thing. Utah had seen enough of the Spida Gobert pairing, they had maybe the best possible supporting cast around them and they still were not enough to make it past the second round. Blowing it up and getting 5 firsts and Walker Kessler is amazing considering that the TWolves will be giving their picks to Utah when Gobert will be 36 and possibly retired.
Not to mention that Aaron Gordon was not playing good in Orlando at the time this trade was made so his trade value was extremely low. It's easy to say in hindsight that the Magic could use a guy like AG on their team but back in 2021, the Magic were not getting a better trade for Gordon from other teams and if they kept Gordon around, they're not in a position to draft Banchero and they would still be where the Magic were before this trade happened: mediocre.
To be fair he had to pick a "bad" recent trade for each team. Some teams may not have a terrible recent trade but he had to go with something for every team.
The kings trade is a west-East thing kings in the east make it to the conference semis and pacers in the west are a play-in team and these playoffs make it very very evident the gap between the two conferences is very noticeable
Also the records were almost the same in both conferences and also let's no forget Indiana has the best luck in playing to two teams in the playoffs decimated by injuries. I would point to the boogie cousins trade as the worst trade for the kings .. they got almost nothing back for him. Also did we skip over that Sabonis made all NBA two years in a row since the trade.. yes ok just making sure.
Jimmy butler trade was easily the worst Timberwolves trade. Gave up zach lavine and lauri markkanen for basically nothing imagine if they had them both w the roster they have now
The Utah Jazz literally have a next great potential Defensive Player of the Year in Walker Kessler after Rudy Gobert (that’s if the Jazz develop him right)
Shai would've done great with Charlotte if, the Kobe draft day trade never happened and Charlotte became a threat instead of being....just the worst. Anything you can think of.
As a Jazz fan, I really wish the Jazz traded Rudy for QUALITY picks, not QUANTITY. I wonder if the kings would have accepted Rudy for their 4th pick that year (for the Jazz to take Ivey)
Bro how was the Jimmy Butler trade to Philly not even mentioned for Minnesota's worst trade? You had a player like Jimmy Butler on your team and all you could get for him is Jarryd Bayless, Robet Covington and Dario Saric, neither of which lasted more than 2 years on Minnesota's roster. Edit: Also, the Rudy Gobert trade is not the worst for the Jazz, wtf are you talking about? Trading away 4 solid players, 2 of which was given to them in the Gobert trade, for JTA, Damian Jones and a single 1st round pick was way worse.

Luka had brunson and Kyrie still haven't to wcf
I love a video analyzing the value of trades that don’t even give a second of consideration to the length of the contracts being traded - one of the most important factors in the trades themselves.
Boston did IT dirty AF..
How do you know Luka would have won a title? Based on what? Conjecture? Gtfoh
Trae Young for Luka Doncic trade is NOT the worst trade at all
What would you say is in place of it??
The Pascal trade was horrible for the Raptors.
I was very surprised that Indiana didn't have to trade any young talent like Jarace Walker or Ben Sheppard or even Nesmith or Toppin... they got nothing
its wayyy to early to tell, u have 3 frps and bruce brown will probably get traded for another frp
Should’ve done this after the playoffs there’s some trades that could be pretty bad this year
Mike, this is, in my opinion, one of your best video types. Your ranking videos and videos that include the best/worst __________ for all 30 teams are among your best ones that you ever put out. Hope you’re doing well!
18:35 bro must be a fortune teller or something bc they are not in the ECF yet
the knicks trade was amazing for the knicks man 🤦 i wonder if half of y’all nba youtubers even watch the sport.
If Trae Young didn't step on a referee's ankle in 2021 they could've won the championship
Nka has been a good defender this year mike
The rj trade was definitely worth it
What is this dude on, what an absolutely brain dead take for Memphis.
Warriors trade wasn't that bad considering the contract they gave Poole
How about the Jason Brunson trade to knicks and Dallas
Free agent?
I’m a Pelicans fan, and it broke my heart when they traded away Jrue. Seeing him go onto so much success elsewhere hurts even more. Jrue remains my all-time favorite Pelican. I still have my Holiday Pels jersey and wear it with a mix of pride and sadness. Even putting aside my own personal feelings, the trade absolutely killed the Pels, and it exposed David Griffin for the terrible executive he was.
i honestly had no idea this man still made content
Harris is starting on a playoff team.
NY got OG for RJ ....
Philly decided to keep Tobias Harris instead of Jimmy Butler. Ben was locked in already
Exactly. Today I was cringing during the 76er loss thinking Harris makes 40million
“All Indiana got was the 26th pick” who ended up being Ben Sheppard, who’s great off the bench for the pacers and a .500 3pt shooter in the playoffs.
Trae Luka was a win win Atl just has the worst FO in the league
The pacers move got us be Sheppard who is a role player playing rotation minutes in the playoffs now
It's actually hilarious how many of these trades is just history repeating itself (Brooklyn, Charlotte, Dallas).
Knicks worst move is probably trading grimes for bogdanovic and burks. KP trade was basically Randle for KP so it worked out
My Wolves trading for Dlo has been one of the better trades in franchise history for merly shaking the roster of Wiggins that and being expted tonsave the franchise contract so bringing in bringing in Dlo a different element that brought us back to the playoffs, since the Wiggins and Dlo swap the value of the woles has drastically improved which got us ANT.
Gary harris just started game 1 lol
It's my birthday so I'm going to give this vid a like
I feel like you don't understand the Poole trade.
I understand the logic, but there’s so many what ifs with some of the trades. Its easy to see how bad trades are now, but then you have no idea
I wish I could curse to be able to describe my frustration towards the POS reporters who drove Kyrie away from Cleveland
24:54 Hali got them 47 wins sure but the kings weren’t much worse… they had 46 wins 😂. The west is just that much better
You really said trading for Trae young was a horrible trade
Of it cost you luka....... sure thing
No it wasn't. The Raptors got a championship they would have never gotten with Derozen
Popovich hates the Lakers with passion, if he didn't he would've accepted Magic Johnson's *ridiculous* offer of literally half the roster (including Lonzo, Ingram and Kuzma).
His bitterness got in the way of his judgement. Biggest mistake of his career
The only thing the Nets have accomplished since moving to Brooklyn is giving away all their draft picks for nothing.
Without trading Porzingis, the Knicks would have been stuck in mediocrity for another few years, instead of contending like they are now
The Spurs Trading Kawhi for Deebo and Poeltl might have been one of the best trades out of a superstar requests out.
Gave up zach lavine and lauri markkanen for basically nothing imagine if they had them both w the roster they have now
They wouldn’t have that roster and be that bad they would still be bad but not that bad to get Towns or even Edwards
The Utah Jazz literally have a next great potential Defensive Player of the Year in Walker Kessler after Rudy Gobert (that’s if the Jazz develop him right)
Blake was 28 when he was traded to the pistons
Garry Harris just started the first playoff game lmao. Aaron Gordon is the last reason Denver won a chip lmao.
Gary Harris is currently in the playoffs now
Shai would've done great with Charlotte if, the Kobe draft day trade never happened and Charlotte became a threat instead of being....just the worst. Anything you can think of.
As a Jazz fan, I really wish the Jazz traded Rudy for QUALITY picks, not QUANTITY. I wonder if the kings would have accepted Rudy for their 4th pick that year (for the Jazz to take Ivey)
In fairness, Minnesota draft picks have historically been a good bet to end up going well for you.
How was the rj barrett trade an underwhelming trade? Getting OG made the Knicks significantly better
Gary harris played against the cavs in the playoffs yesterday
U we’re right about the Heat fan not liking there section but still W vid 😂
Huh? Saying the Worriers should have kept CessPoole is like saying good thing the Blazers took Sam Bowie instead of that Jordan guy.
Did you just say "Welcome to the worst RECENT trades in NBA HISTORY?" Dod you mean "the worst trades in recent history?"
“Dod” did you mean “did”?!? 💀
What has Jimmy won since then? Nothing.
the vucivic trade was good imo their worst recent trade was trading lauri
