The best outboard gauges in the world - Yamaha 6Y8(Twin LAN) gauge tutorial

- The Yamaha 6Y8(or Twin LAN as we call it) is the standard gauge for Yamaha 4-Strokes and includes all the features you'll need to get the most out of your Yamaha Outboard.
Using the 6Y8 is simple and practical, and includes heaps of features and data to know exactly what your outboard is doing.
The trolling feature is a must for serious fisherman, essentially the cruise control for a boat, you can motor along at a constant speed to broaden your fishing area.

What an awesome video. Explains everything I have wanted to know .😀
👍👍just began as yamaha outboard technician this year
Congratulations
Hope to see you at yamaha Grand Prix one day
I'm guessing these gauges need a controller for the motor or is it an all in one unit? I have what I believe is an older 6y5 Guage set on a 98 scout 192, but it been repowered w/ a 2012 yammy 150 that was a NOS I found a couple of years ago. She now has only about 330 hrs on it. My question is can I swap out on of my dead gauges for the one that does the trolling feature, and if so what is the part #? Ima gonna need that here in Florida!
Hey. Can you tell me the model/part number of the mechanical steering box you use for the 30hp outboards? Thank you.
Brisbaneyamaha.com.au there is a yamaha parts tab with every yamaha part number
How do I get the fuel read gauge on my new f130hp 2021 model
Your tank needs a fuel sender and then gauge plugs in
Or it’s not set up properly
If you purchased from me call Chris if not call the dealer you bought from
Got a question: my speedometer/fuel meter just stopped working yesterday. The Tachometer works fine. But the speedometer/fuel meter went completely blank. Before that, it switched from mode to mode as the button would be stuck. Arent they waterproof? Is it only less than a year old? What could cause this? How is Yamaha's warranty on these gauges' as I see, they are not cheap.
Sounds like a wiring issue
Yes water proof but I wouldn’t high pressure clean
Yes 4 years warranty
@@BrisbaneYamaha actually water got inside somehow, gets on/off and jumps between modes, buttons not working (only 10 moths OLD)

Hi i need sam assistance, my f60 is not shwoing the trim angel. I made a reset i tink my sensor is good, but the cable that cames from the sensor is not plugged to eny other cable.
It’s more likely the trim sensor above to left of hydraulic ram jamed
@@BrisbaneYamaha no it is ok bu ther ois a pink cable coming from it that is not plugged. It is coverd
My trim indicator is up ... i just install the gauge ... how can it get to the midle of the lines ?
You need to go to a yamaha dealer
How can i change from galons to litre?
I’ve been stuck in Melbourne for month Anastasia won’t give me a boarder pass so I don’t have gauges with me but it’s real eazy
Call Chris on 07 38881727 and say I sent you
Will these work with a 2011 F115TLR?
No
How to calibrate a new fuel level gauge?
We do from new when tank is empty
So single point way eziest
Or you have to do multi point 1/4 1/2 1/3
You can not do when unknown amount of fuel
It’s all in gauge
Not something most people can do
If your near me bring it in if not good bless
My gauge is not showing Oil level. Trying to figure out what happened.
That’s because they don’t show oil level
There’s a low oil alarm
@@BrisbaneYamaha sorry I mean Fuel Level, there is showing nothing, not even single bar, full blank, just wondering if it’s program issue or sensor issue. And if it’s under yamaha warranty
Could be a few things
1 fuel sender
Valet ration of gauge which needs to be bone from new with empty tank
I’d check connections at tank
"only gauges that you can see with polarized glasses". Removes glasses to see gauges.
I wear reading glasses to see close up
You will be able to see screen with sunnys on
I can’t see my mobile phone
You too will love getting old and rooted
@@BrisbaneYamaha getting old is for the birds! My dad just repowered with a 250 Yamaha from a Suzuki 225. It’s getting installed in the next few weeks. Your video on gauges was super helpful for him figuring out what he wanted. Thank you!
I want someone to talk about me like he talks about Yamaha.
Gee you’d meet to improve your behaviour to be at yamaha level
Lol
is that 90 a digital/dec motor i was under the impression only digital motors have the adjustable idle/troll speed
No
Only 150 up are available in digital
But yamaha will bring digital down to all efi models in coming years
Ha great motor. Not Quieter than Suzuki
Bloke sounds like he could sell sand to an Arab
But good motors none the less lol
This guy is a “legend onto himself”! I figure he has to be on at least his third Wife hahaha
Second
Diane is awesome
Aaron, only Wife #2 !!! I must say mate that you are quite the salesman. I doubt that many who walk into your dealership walk out without buying something. Yamaha is truly the BMW of outboards. My F40 is being delivered to my dealer in 3 days. I’ve been in financial sales for 33 years and I can appreciate your honest passion for the products you sell! And your informative video.

@@brettgraham1254 The way he pronounces Yamaha is catchy. Must be that Aussie dialect. I don't pronounce my Yamaha like I used too. Now whenever I hear that name I say Yamma Haaaa just like Aaron
Have you seen the Suzuki SMG4 digital gauge? Down right sexy 🔥
Really?
Just buy yamaha and get on with your life
