What a mind f* There was such a deep meta narrative that could only be fully appreciated if you played VR Missions first

When I was young and naive, I accidentally rented this thinking I was getting the actual Metal Gear Solid, and assumed you had to beat the VR missions to get to the actual game because it was just that difficult. But what kind of mission would force you to beat such an unreasonably difficult tutorial to proceed with your mission? Oh yeah... Driver.
I had never played driver before, but when i played it the first time, i did get stumped on "slalom" but THERE'S A FUCKING TUTORIAL DEMO VIDEO THAT SHOWS YOU WHAT EVERYTHING IS, HOLY FUCK IT'S NOT HARD!

Awakening is often referred to as FE13 anyway since Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem are referred to as FE11 and FE12 respectively. I've also seen people refer to Fates as FE14, so they definitely count by this point. Although, I don't really see people refer to Three Houses as FE16 as often as FE3H, but still.
Oh man I remember when my cousin and i were both fans of just Metal Gear Solid and he had played through quite a big chunk of the missions himself before I managed to get a copy so he bought it round along with his memory card and we played through the murder mystery missions. I remember when I was giving all the different theories about who the killer was from the clues on mission 10 only to burst out laughing from the ketchup because that's how I escaped prison in MGS1.
technically, in Special mode, under the NG selection category, mission 8 can be considered another mystery level, where the culprit dropped a book near the body, and you have to hide in order to catch him as he's getting it back

I wish the Batman Arkham games had investigation segments where you have to figure stuff out on your own. Arkham’s Detective mode doesn’t really do it for me, since all you do is follow instructions before they give you the answer.
Metal Gear on the Game Boy Color had a good amount of missions from VR missions. This is why I never got around to actually playing VR missions. Don't think I ever will now that I've watched this video lol. Fun video though. Maybe someday.
