My family's favourite food is chillies, apart from salt. We always grow chillies on the few acres of land at home. In the past, we used to sell them for some money, but now we eat most of them. Sun-dried red chillies soaked in Wild Chilies in soy sauce, and storable stir-fried chilli sauce, our family can basically finish these chillies in the first half year.
We often say that red chillies represent a prosperous life. Hanging some red chillies at home and having some red chillies on the dining table brings an irreplaceable flavour to our hometown as if the touch of red can always ignite the enthusiasm and desire for cooking in our hearts.

I really love watching your videos. I always learn so much about Chinese culture and food, foods I never even heard of at times. I would look them up out of curiosity and wondering what health benefits they had and would be amazed every time. I wish America was more like China in some ways. America is very industrialized and there aren't as many farms as there used to be. There are more corporate farms then there are family farms and corporate farms don't care about doing things the natural way so fruits and veggies grown in America aren't as healthy as they should be...unless you grow your own. I live in Michigan and farms were real plentiful here at one time...not anymore 😕 if there were more farms food here wouldn't be so expensive. And if people were more open to sharing and helping out others there would be less that go hungry. There are those who complain about China, but China has such a beautiful family oriented culture. Sure there are issues...every country has issues, and Sure the government may be wonky...but America is in no position to be throwing shade on any countries government 🙄 the people from my experience and from what I see are often good people. I love Chilies. They make my mouth water just seeing and smelling the variety of them. Favorites are Banana, Anaheim and Serrano with Anaheim being my all time favorite. Can eat it as a snack. I use them to spice up dishes when I need an extra kick in a meal. Even in Microwave meals I will use them. Give an extra needed flavor. 😋

Wow ..yunan is a very fertile place and the people are very smart I love to see this where you can get all kinds of vegetables and fruits ...you are so blessed .
It's pretty amazing that all her videos are shot and edited by Penjie and her sister without any other assistance. Film school students could learn from them. Go to 10:24 and you will see a cat in the background as Penjie is chopping the chicken. To include that in when they could have easily left it out is just brilliant. It's those small homey touches that make her videos so loved by so many. These videos are just a feast for the eyes and ears.
I love how they shoot and edit. My newest kitten looks just like the one in the video. Lol.

I do believe she has a filmer, who films and operates the drone (-shots amazing always!) but if she’s doing the editing herself completely, it’s very awesome yes!
as far as I know, she has a crew that films her and edits. They seem to also consider what viewers like, for example, Aixa appears much more often now, it seems like she is well-liked by viewers.

well of course its scripted ..its a show docu type, but it doesn't mean that what she have and what she cook arent real. Of course not everyone eat like these everyday in Yunnan but at least this is how many people who can afford it or during big event does. Just like any "reality" tv show in Hollywood everything is scripted even the quarrel and the fight and the sob story that you can see in show like AgT or X factor or American idol. But What dianxi show is what normal village people would do and eat and farm. The dialog might be scripted but the life style and the people living in the village are not.
It wouldn't be as smooth flowing and entertaining if it wasn't scripted. And a lot of tedious work is skipped. Just picking that amount of chilies would take most of the day and would be very dull to watch. To say nothing of how long they took to dry. It does seem serene and effortless but that is because of the sheer amount of editing that has to be done to put on video together! I find these relaxing and fun as well and appreciate that fact that the boring part is edited out! LOL
Dianxi, I don’t know how you do it, but every video is a culinary masterpiece! We really need to send the compilers of the Michelin guide, or it’s Chinese equivalent, your way to get you properly recognized as a master chef🥰🥰. And it’s always a pleasure to spend time with your extended family 😃
