A new virgin sea beach near Kolkata, in the proximity of Sundarban. Lalgunj - a remote village near Sundarban, where village tourism has developed in the proximity of Sea Beach and Mangrove forests. The wide spread Kalistan beach is a treat at the village of Lalgunj. The white sand beach is full of Red Crabs. During low tide, when the sea water goes far away, a number of sea birds can be seen in the deserted beach. The confluence of River Saptamukhi is just beside the sea beach. On opposite side of the river there is the Lothian Island of Sundarban. One can have a boat ride on the river to the sea mouth and can reach to a lonely island. During low tide the island particularly becomes a place to chill. Standing alone in a deserted island in the middle of sea mouth, surrounded by the sea water, is an amazing experience. One or two fishing boats sometimes come to rest at the island. Otherwise there are many sea birds at this island to accompany. The sunset view from this island looks amazing.
Lalgunj is situated on the Eastern bank of the same island where Bakkhali and Fraserganj are there. It takes around 4 to 4.5 hrs to reach Lalgunj from Kolkata on drive. There is a lovely Beach Stay surrounded by the beautiful nature of the village.
How to reach:
By Car approx. 120km from Kolkata, via Diamond Harbour Road, Kakdwip, Namkhana, Dashmile Bazar.
By Bus: Reach Dashmile Bazar by Bakkhali bound bus from Kolkata. From Dashmile Bridge hire a Toto to reach Lalgunj (approx. 6-7 km).
By Train: Reach Namkhana from Sealdah by Local Train. From Namkhana take Bakkhali bound bus and get down at Dashmile Bridge. From there take a Toto.
Where to Stay:
Ghare Baire Beach Stay: Tent Accommodation in a beautiful village environment, and in the proximity of Mangrove forests. Sea Beach is just 4-5 minutes' walk from the stay through the Mangrove forests.
Tariff - Night Stay (food + lodging): Premium Tent - 1500 per head , Dome Tent - 1200 per head
Tariff - Day Outing (stay for few hours + welcome drink + lunch + evening snacks): Premium Tent - 750 per head ; Dome Tent - 600 per head.
Note: There is no attached toilet in the tents. Only common toilet facility is there at present. If anyone going with family, has a problem for Common Toilet, can avail Day Outing Package, like we did. The day outing to this Beach Stay and this new found tourist attraction will also be a memorable experience.
