Dagelijks worden we geconfronteerd met een geweldige stroom aan beelden. Een groot deel van deze beelden zijn beelden van geweld.
Gebeurtenissen uit de levens van medemensen, vaak onbekenden. We weten dat wat we zien werkelijk gebeurd is, toch kunnen wij ernaar kijken en ervan wegkijken.
Hoe je te verhouden tot werelden die zich aandienen via een scherm? Wat is het effect daarvan op wie wij zijn? The Unpleasant Surprise zoekt naar die verbintenis in een beeldende en fysieke voorstelling. Want met alles wat wij vastleggen gaat ook iets verloren.

Events in the lives of people usually unknown to us. We know that what we see has really happened, yet we are allowed to watch and look away.
How do we relate to the worlds on our screens? What are their effects on who we are? The Unpleasant Surprise looks for the connection in a visual and physical performance. Because with everything that we capture, something is lost as well. The majority of which are images of violence.
