  • Once again, it's Toshiki Tuesdays and I'm gonna treat you all to some more footage from 1986 Omega Tribe's first concert. You cannot find this anywhere besides maybe a few Chinese websites but hey...
That's better than finding nothing ya know? lol

When I first watched this performance, I just couldn't stop replaying this one particular part 3:44 when the guitar solo hit all so suddenly and it sounded so hypnotizing at first and then full chaos.
It's because before I discovered 80s Japanese city pop, I was jamming to rock music (thanks to Queen's performance at Live Aid 1985), so when that solo hit, it got me hooked up real good! And if you think about it, you'd soon realize that there really aren't much city pop songs out there that have guitar solos in them. But it's not the case with Omega Tribe. Almost every single song in this live concert has a fire guitar solo (the same goes for K. Sugiyama & OT First Final Concert in 1986). If I were meant to be honest with you, I'm gonna say they are the best city pop band/artists I have ever discovered, and their playlists were the only city pop playlists that I have been vibing to all these months.
By the way rest in peace Mr. Mitsuya Kurokawa (yep, it's the guitarist who did that solo), he passed away in July 6th 2020, I was surprised when I was looking up for him too. He was born to become a rockstar but he chose to be in a pop band instead.
