I've never dispatched in my entire life but I picked it up quick. First few days I fucked up on the loads becuase i wasn't getting the proper information about the loads. Where its heading, is it a warehouse or grocery store, floor loaded or palletized, pick up time, delivery time, weight, are straps needed, load locks needed and what they're paying. I know how much the lanes i run go for so i never take a rate that isn't what I want. I once had a broker call me telling me he wanted me to get a driver to pick up a local load in my hometown and drive 350 miles 40,000 lbs of load weight for $500 😂 I laughed and said no, but I can move that load for $1,200 and he hung up. The rates these idiots will throw at you is sometimes too funny.

Some people like to pick a niche and others don't care as long as they get a shipper

In the beginning to build your book of business you will need to spend more time doing that. Once you have the book of business established you may not work as many hours. However it's your choice

Hello, I appreciate this video scenario. My question is the rate is $2300, you offered $1900, but the driver asked for $2100.... So does that mean you only made $200.... Why is that good with you?
We just did a quick scenario however that was great if it only takes 15-30 mins to make that. In brokerage you want to do volume. How many loads could you move, even if you as a broker make a smaller commission
$200 x 8-10 times a day! Yes it adds up quickly. Yes, you do have overhead, but it is still good money for little work

Please don’t get into the freight broker business if you think it’s this easy. It’s not. It’s a great and lucrative business but it’s not this easy and any person or company that tries to convince you it is hurting you more than helping you.

Out of curiosity... Why is it when the broker offered the load to the truck driver at $1,900 for the trip, and then he asked for an additional $200... When the broker went back to the shipper oh, the increase of price was never brought up? If the shipper was going to pay $1,900 for the load, can the broker change that rate on the fly, or does the shipper give some sort of advanced leeway on how much to pay the truck driver... Or does that increase come out of the broker's fee?

If I take the load from the customer and when driver arrive to the receiver and the load got damaged by the shipper and the load gets refuse by the receiver. Who will be responsible for the damage load?
that load shouldn't have left the shipper since you knew it was damaged. critical thinking is key in this fast pace business.

Dispatchers charge a percentage to dispatch the load....does that fee come out of the carriers pocket? Or the brokers pocket... and at what point is is charged....
A dispatcher was not used in this skit. The trucker found the load himself from the load board.
