- When a new band creates an exciting trend on TikTok, it makes me raise my eyebrows in various directions. Why have people who have never heard their sound before gravitated so quickly to them, and what are they offering a scene that's different than everything else? Today, we check out Sleep Theory and their breakout hit "Fallout" for the first time.
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Sleep Theory for the first time, performing "Fallout”.

Hey, my name is David Cowell and I produced and wrote this with the guys. Thought I’d introduce myself since you asked who produced it. Glad you dig the layers and textures 🤘🏻
Also to those who’ve commented, the nod to early era Linkin Park was 100% intentional and done with respect to their legacy. Check out their other tunes 🤘🏻🔥
Well the nod to Linkin Park was very well done. But you guys have a great sound of your own. Keep jamming.
Great job man. Nailed it!
Great job on this... Looking forward to future productions
I'm sure you already know this, but this song is an absolute killer 🤘🖤
I love the Hybrid Theory vibes, hell yeah my dude
Their lead vocalist gave one of the best live performances I'd ever seen a couple months ago. Sounded great, excellent stage presence. These guys are gonna blow up
First time hearing Sleep Theory - I'm hearing a lot of Linkin Park and Sevendust influence on their sound, both vocally and production-wise. And this is totally a GOOD thing!
Sleep Theory's whole Paper Hearts EP is excellent. Not a bad song on it. Glad to see you giving them a listen. You may be interested in their SiriusXM live performances, as the emotion Cullen delivers in them is outstanding. Really excited to see what the future holds for this band.
I saw Sleep Theory open for Beartooth and Invent/Animate in Philadelphia and in Baltimore in the same week. Sleep Theory was incredible. At least twice as good live as they are in the studio. They had so much energy and such fun.
I'd highly recommend looking into Beartooth, specifically his vocal journey from anger and sorrow in the earlier albums leading into the hopeful, happy sounds and lyrics of the newest album.
i am so fucking jealous
Philadlephia was such a good show!!
Highly recommend checking out their other song "Numb". Both studio / acoustic versions sound amazing
My 10-year old daughter absolutely loves that song! She especially likes to do the low, growly "numb" in the chorus. 😂
You mean Linking Park - Numb?
@@Diveylna sleep theory has a song called numb also
@@evanduffey4512 and they also play and sing in style that practically make them Linkin Park 2.0
The acoustic version is brilliant.
This sounds like Linkin Park has a brother but without the emotional voice and sound Chester Beddington had. The scratches, the sound, the vocals yes a revival of 90's New metal. R.i.p Chester and Linkin Park.
I was just gonna say it was immediately reminiscent of early aughts NuMetal. Linkin Park, Trapt, Adema, and so on.
yep, this is exactly what I thought right away.
This have same construction, same rhythm, same melody... From the start it feels like I have heard this already. If this is not a copy of the existing song then it it very close to being one...
@@OpDDay2001 Evanescence as well? I could swear i have heard song with similar construction
Gotta listen to the Japanese linkin park. Listen to Coldrain - “Mayday”or another song from them called “vengeance”
I get a heavy Linkin Park influence here but in general i like the sound.
Esoterica - Firefly, in my opinion, has done an incredible job with thay kind of proggy, synth vibe. Definitely check it out just for the video alone if nothing else!
Would love to see her break it down
Evanescence as well
She should defo check out Esoterica!!!!
@@Diveyl Yeah that duhduh duh duh duhduh duh duh guitar - I can't think of another way to explain it. I think that's what's got the Linkin park and Evanescence vibe. I'm not super keen on the synth sound on this track but the rest of the track is pretty easy listening.
@@tobiaskeast6866 same! There's so many layers to the song to dive into - congrats on the amazing work 😊
A few other people have already mentioned but I second listening to Esoterica Firely! 🙌🏻🧚🏼
Yaaaaas 🎉 thank you 🙏
+1
Esoterica firefly is absolutely mind blowing with vocals and the music video is out of this world 🤘🤘🤘
Please check out ‘firefly’ by esoterica. Such an underrated band and their new track is amazing!
Have a listen to Firefly by Esoterica - I promise you won't regret it and this comes from someone who was around before Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple were formed!
That's an incredible compliment, thank you so much ❤
@@lauroterica - you are very welcome! You lot seem to keep getting better and better (though The Riddle is still my fave album!)
🥹 Thank you 🙏 The Riddle has some of my favourites to play live for sure!
Highly recommend checking out Esoterica and their new single called “Firefly”
I would love to hear your thoughts on Esoterica and their new single, Firefly!!

Yes! Yes! Yes!!!
Please check "Firefly" by Esoterica!! It's amazzzzing!! ❤🧚🧚❤. You'll fall in love with it!!❤
Hope I can catch your eye on this but `Fair to Midland - Dance of the Manatee`. Criminally underrated band with insane vocals and composition. Would absolutely love to see you review them!
Esoterica - Firefly! Let’s go!
I would love to watch you listen to Firefly - new single from Esoterica!!
Highly recommend checking out Esoterica, their latest single Firefly
I totally agree!!!! She really should!!
The dululululul synth = brain heaven
I want "the dululululul synth" on a t-shirt
Ohh yeah. firefly is incredible. 😊😊
Yes! +1
I love your videos. Please check out Firefly by Esoterica. Tobias' voice is stunning.
A great one to do an analysis of, is Fair to Midland and their song Musical Chairs.
Please review Esoterica’s Firefly!!!
You should do esoterica from UK new song firefly..it's 🤯
I want to see you react to Firefly by esoterica!
Absolutely!!!
Didn't know this band but just watched their video (loved it!) & am so excited to hear your review!
Request - I PREVAIL - Hurricane (official video)
Yay! Fantastic!
Great band & great reaction. On a tangent, i just reviewed your reaction to John Farnham singing “ Help “ & you win hands down for having the greatest reaction of all time. Absolutely fantastic; so natural but also educational & entertaining.
On another tangent, I’ve asked on numerous occasions for your reaction to Amira Willighagen & if you at last take up this suggestion, you’ll be blown away. Amira is now 20 & doing her Batchelor of Music at the Pretoria University,Sth Africa.
My suggestion is her performing “ Ave Maria by Gomez at the Canisius Church when she was just 11 y.o. You will be amazed.
Cheers Graeme. ps. Please, pretty please.
Try Evanescence and Linkin Park
I highly suggest the reimagined version of this song. Really well done.
They also have some good acoustic live performances.
Please react to "Firefly" by Esoterica!
🔥🔥🔥
That would be great if she did.
Yes please!!
Firefly is a work of art it blows your senses!
Please check out Esoterica’s latest single ‘firefly’ amazing vocals & visuals ❤
Ohh yes. 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Totally agree 🙏🙏🙏🤟🤟🤟❤️❤️❤️❤️
please consider esoterica, firefly!
Please listen to esoterica’s new song firefly, it’s brilliant.
Love this. Lots of new music coming out that's stunning.
Esoterica - Firefly as seen in these comments was just as good, if not better.
Thanks 😊
Sounds amazing! Love this.
Would love it if you could check out the latest song ‘Firefly’ by the amazing Esoterica. ❤️🤟🙏
I'll throw in my request here. Would love to see you react to Volbeat. Love Michael Poulsen's vocals. Almost like if Elvis was fronting a modern hard rock band?
Yes I’ve been waiting years for that
+1 for Volbeat. Super unique and would love to hear her take on them!
Yes! I’ve been requesting them for a while now. To me, he kinda sounds like a happy Danzig. “Lola Montez” would be a good intro.
Throwing my hat in the ring for Volbeat! SOOOOOOO UNIQUE!
I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan of Volbeat, but his voice is mind blowing.
🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻cool! I agreed though - check out esoterica! Reckon you will rate Firefly!
You need to checkout Esoterica - Firefly
Please can you react to Esoterica Firefly. Please Please Please.
Im seeing alot of comment about Firefly, you all should find post and like each other to get this noticed
@@user-scott-pearceI wonder if they all know each other and the band, and are just trying to get the song out there? So many comments with the same wording.
You need to listen to Esoterica's Firefly. Stunning composition and vocals, and an awesome video to boot!
These guys are AMAZING live! They are super nice individuals as well. Check out their song "Numb" as well! The bassist has an amazing voice too.
Pleases check out esoterica’s new single Firefly you won’t be disappointed there brilliant and the video is amazing ❤🎵🎤🎸🧚🏼
Great video - gonna have to check these folks out now!
On an unrelated note - please please please make a video reacting to the music of Tom Waits. There are so many incredible songs to choose from and his voice is just one of a kind. In terms of vocal analysis he’s an absolute must-hear!
Thank you for the amazing content!
Great reaction, Sleep Theory have been one of my favourite bands of 2024 so far.
& after seeing all the comments regarding Esoterica & firefly, I thought that I would check that out & OMG, that band needs more recognition. That song is art.
I saw Sleep Theory opening for Beartooth back in January. They are so good live! I’m hoping for a full length album and great success for them. ❤
Sleep Theory reminds me of late 90's/early 2000's rock. Mostly cleans with a touch of harsh vocals. I loved this style a lot back then. Main clean vocalist while the guitarist picks up harsh vocals.
I also want to request Volbeat again! Since I've been seeing more people request it in the comments again. Lola Montez, The Garden's Tale, Sad Man's Tongue and Radio Girl are good starting choices imo! Lola Montez is most fans' favorite, though.
Need to check our Band Esoterica and their new single Firefly. It's epic 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love Sleep Theory but if you want to analyze vocals I think you’ll like Dayseeker. Rory Rodriguez vocals are really nice. I recommend the reimagined version of Burial Plot, Without Me and Neon Grave
I LOVE Sleep Theory! They blew my mind for the first time at Rockfest in Northern Wisconsin last year. Then again with Beartooth this year. I can't wait to see them with Nothing More in May!
So glad you did these guys! I found them a little over a year ago with Numb and became an instant fan. They toured with Shinedown last year. The band said they personally invited Sleep Theory out on the road with them because they liked the three different voices. Daniel Pruitt (guitar) does the screaming and Paolo Vergara (bass) does a lot of harmonies (he has a great voice, too.) I’ve seen them twice live and they’re great!
Yes, the mix of the 3 voices is great! I will be looking up their other songs. 😀
Esoterica firefly please can check it out. You will love it. The vocals is so good and video is one one of the best video i have ever seen. I will be seeing them on Friday in Manchester
Oh look, the suggestion reappeared! Red Handed Denial - “Father Said” (Lauren Babic live one take performance) Recentish version of Lauren who can sing beautifully and scream with the best of them.
Looooove this kind of analytical content. One of my best friends sent me here and I'm glad she did.
ESOTERICA!! Their new single FIREFLY! Please give it a listen, you will discover a whole rabbit hole!!
Just checked it out. Very good.
They’re sooooooo goood live and some of the most humble nice guys got to meet them when they were on tour with beartooth they deserve all the love and recognition they’ve gotten
The Warning - Automatic Sun (live) or Hell You Call a Dream (live). Their 2 newest songs you definitely should check out!
Their whole EP Paper Hearts is excellent! I’d recommend anything from there for another listen, though I think only “Numb.” and “Gone or Staying” have videos out.
Elizabeth has introduced a new band to me again, time for another deep dive into a few songs
Linking Park, Evanescence, 1990's 2000's vibes
Have loved these guys since I heard Numb and I love seeing them continue to climb. I saw them in Columbus, OH as an opener for I Prevail and Badflower and not only did they steal the show sound wise, but they spent a solid half hour+ before their set, and at least two hours after their set just talking to fans and taking pictures. There was never NOT a line at their table. Such humble dudes that sound incredible. Wishing them continued success. Also...Sleep THEORY > Sleep TOKEN 😄
Agreed dude!! Numb is my favorite, SOOO good live. And on Numb you get to hear all the vocalists
@@Gravity_Outdoors Yes, Numb is my favorite for sure. And the reimagined version really shows off Cullen's vocals too.
Hey, I love your videos, and your analysis of vocals. Can you review Bad Omens? The Death of Peace of Mind, Like a Villain, and Nowhere to Go are some great songs that showcase Noah Sebastians vocals.
I know iv been dying for her to react to them 😢
Throwing my vote in for Death Of Peace Of Mind
On the song length thing: This flavor of Metalcore/Melodic Nu-Metal is pretty much always in that 3-4 minute ballpark. Not sure if it's a quirk of the genre or a side effect of this sort of music getting a lot of radio playtime (also why this music is affectionately called Octane-core). As someone who grew up on bands like Sevendust, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, etc. this sort of music just feels like home.
Elizabeth! I've watched your channel for a couple of years now and absolutely adore your warmth, and endearing energy. Also having a huge passion for mental health, it's always lovely seeing you talk about that! However for whatever reason I'd never seen you actually perform before, until just now. And WHAT THE HELL, you're incredible! It was your Martern aller arten performance, which I'm sure you've garnered loads of praise from. My first thought was... I love her even more now!!
I think the one of the freshest sounds in modern metal has (strangely) old Dayseeker. They were far ahead of time in 2017 with Crooked Soul or Six Feet under. Blasting deep clean vocals contrasted with intermittent harsh screams…that’s the thing for me 🤘🏼
Yes! This is the music I want to see you analyze!! This is my first time hearing them too. I’m almost getting some I Prevail vibes in this song, mixed with some old Linkin Park. Since you mentioned the edm background, and obviously are spoiled by metal, check out I see stars. Mixing the 2 is their thing
Also I think you should check out Nothing More, Jenny would be a good start if you wanna get punched in the feels
Please do Journey’s Steve Perry. Specifically the Tokyo live performance of “Faithfully.” Someone said he was sick with the flu, but from hearing him sing, you couldn’t tell.
I've been listening to these guys for a couple of weeks now. Spotify randomly played them for me and the first song was Gone or Staying. Masterpiece. I love them and hope they get big!
15:00 she's speaking in breakdowns now, your journey has been a great one to follow so far !!
Im so glad that nu metal is still alive and well.
Spotify has a regularly updated playlist..new nu..
Found some new bands im lovin!
From ashes to new is one of my new faves.
Great analysis as always! The production on this song definitely makes it pop. I'm gonna keep an eye on these guys for sure. They been cookin.
Mine too, really enjoying this and the "Gone or Staying" video they just dropped today. It makes me really happy to hear something so new and for it to resonate and hit.
This is one of my favourite latest finds, so powerful, awesome vocals, Love this bands sound!!
Not a single bad song on their EP, Numb, Another Way, It's Over, Gone Or Staying, Enough in that order.
Their reimagined of Numb and Another Way are fantastic as well and really highlights Cullen's singing ability.
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE
Just heard this song on the octane accelerator concert live, and it is every bit as amazing. Loving this band! Fame on fire has a new song out 'Nightmare (Devil)' you should check out. It's incredible!
For anyone wondering- YES they are really good live. Saw them on Beartooth’s recent tour.
saw them at aftershock. They're soooo good.
PLEASE react to Battle Beast!!! Noora Louhimo is a Finnish POWERHOUSE with a unique voicethat knows no limits. She has incredible vibrato. You'll be just as if not more "floored" as you were with Floor Jansen. Please check them out!!!
Noora takes Floor out back like old yeller
New and Different, I think you nailed it Julia, the sound is AMAZING imho!! Insane leads, Insane beat, Insane Screams, scratching, come on now!!
Scratching, sampling etc in metal started way back in the 80s.
A band called Pop Will Eat Itself were one of the pioneers. They did a collaboration with The Prodigy called "Their Law" in which the lead singer of PWEI was the lead voice on the track.
PWEI started mixing metal, punk, scratching, hip hop, rap, Industrial etc into their music since 1986.
The Prodigy since 1990.
Trent Reznor of the Nine Inch Nails signed PWEI to his own label stating he was a big fan & they were an influence to his music & possibly a number more?
A band whose music is so underrated in the influence of others.
May I suggest "There is no love between us anymore", "Wise Up Sucker" & "Can U dig it" as suggestions?
Their ideology was as in their lyrics of "Very Metal Noise Pollution",
Not quite, not rite
Not fairly, not pretty
But very metal!
Sample it, loop it
F**k it, eat it
And spit it out!
I've placed a comment on another of your UA-cam posts talking about The Sisters of Mercy ft Ofra Haza - Temple of Love (1992) the extended mix is 8+ mins & still doesn't seem long! You just sail along with Andrew Eldritch's deep baritone Ofra Haza's beautifully soft tones. Sounds a very strange mix for a band formed in 1980 from the post punk scene & becoming a seminal band in the influence of the Gothic Rock scene, so much so, I've seen college kids wearing their t-shirts to this day!
I'd love to hear your opinion & analyse of this track?
That song & The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary. The lead singer Ian Astbury has a serious set of pipes & stage presence.
All are highly uplifting!
Great for driving long journeys, home after a stressful day or when you just need a serious emotional pick me up!
Happy listening!
You HAVE to react to their live acoustic performance with Sirius xm. Either the song Numb or ‘Another Way’ incredibly talented band
Too Close To Touch - "Sympathy"
Please
Please
Please
Let their memory live on
Sleep Theory, yes! So glad you reacted to them
I listened to them a lot last year. "Numb" was the first song I heard. Their whole EP was solid. Glad you are checking them out Elizabeth!
PLEASE look at 2 bands.
STARSET - The Breach (seriously great band they are an 8 piece! you will love it from a composition pov as well as vocals, very inspirational. They have MANY really awesome pieces of work. The use of classical and rock and synth elements. Vocalist Dustin has a voice like no other, his raw emotion is beyond anything i have seen live and on album and range is insanely good)
Smash in to Pieces - AFTERGLOW or Wake up (Scandinavian rock, and they are phenomenal live and on track, the singer is really unique! and they are so sweet to their fans. They are so inspirational and the vocalist Chris is powerful but also shows range with such a shift in his vocal!)
Sleep Theory has some amazing VOCALS!!!
I need to hear you do a video on The Gazette. They’ve been around for a while AND they’re a j-rock band but Ruki’s voice is something I’d love to see you break down!
Saw them in January and they are amazing live, if you get the chance to see them do it! They are touring with Nothing More and Wage War this summer! They sound so amazing live
I would love to hear you react to Loren Allred performing "no promises to keep" on The First Take! It's an amazing vocal performance
New one for me, but really enjoyed your review and hearing the song.
It's funny you mention Falling In Reverse. Because both FIR and Sleep Theory are signed to Epitaph Records. Which would also explain the super high budget production on both the video and the audio. From what I've seen Epitaph puts a lot of resources into their artists.
Just saw Sleep Theory live on Wednesday. They were nutty live. Instant fan.
I saw these guys live in February with Beartooth, fantastic band!!! Beartooth would be an awesome band to check out as well! I would suggest “In Between” which is an older one, then anything off their newest album. Keep up the great content!!!
Nice profile pic you have there
@@aaronleesgbclieutenantthanks
Hey, love your videos! I just wanted to ask if you wouldn't mind checking out Shaun Morgan's voice from seether ? I love his rasp. I love the song "Pass Slowly" cause of his range in it but in the song "Like Suicide" he does some screams which are super impressive and if you want to hear a cover, they have a cover of "Careless Whisper" which is amazing aswell! Thanks!
Definitely feel the Linkin Park connection. Also hear some Sevendust in here. Would love to see a Sevendust review.
You should do Ed Kowalczyk from the 90s band Live.
Selling the drama
Lightning Crashes
Turn my head
Dolphin's Cry
He has a pretty underrated, but amazing, voice.
I think you would really enjoy hearing the band Imminence, they have lots of live performances on UA-cam and have an amazing sound. Their new song "The Black" is chilling!
Here are some severely underrated bands/songs that I would LOVE to see you react to:
*Imminence* > "Infectious" or "Saturated Soul"
*Fifth Dawn* > "Allure" or "Turbulence (Unplugged)"
*Hands Like Houses* > "Antarctica" or "A Tale of Outer Suburbia" (or their Snow Sessions)
Please do more of them!
The unclean vocals are Daniel Pruitt, the guitarist. I just saw them with Nothing more and they bring it live. The bassist, Paolo Vergara, also lends some vocals and they’re so on point it’s ridiculous. Ben, the drummer, and Daniel are brothers and are both so personable and talented. I cannot sing their praises enough! I’m hearing a lot of Linkin Park comparisons but they remind me more of Sevendust. In short I love Sleep Theory and cannot wait for a full length album to drop!!
Sleep theory sound amazing live..saw them at a music festival last September
Reminds me of a Linkin Park track with bass lines from Skindred. Not too bad though.
Can you please look at Esoterica - Firefly, you will love it all.
