Must've been a lot of fun. The bass has a very different sound characteristic from the guitar in that the guitar typically only occupy a certain spot within a sonic space and stay there. It can get really loud but it doesn't really go out of it's spot. The bass has a much wilder sound. A clean signal from a single note alone can easily bleed all over the place. The greatest rhythm guitarist to ever live, in my opinion. Modern extended scale djent guitars still can't get their tone to be as heavy as Lemmy's bass.
To hear how capable he was on bass listen to his playing on “Space Ritual” the Hawkwind live album from’72. He has more bass in the tone and the double stop chords and drones are all present and correct. The bass breaks during “Orgone Accumulator” are astonishing. Check it out.
Dum dadum dadada Dum dudum dadada Dum dadum dadada Dum dadum dadada Brilliant. He drove hawkwind and him and Brock just ebbing and flowing , just excellent.
His bass tone has always been one of my favourites, just the right amount of distortion to sound badass yet retain punch and character. Also his extensive use of mids helped him cut through the mix
@@Haulaton Yes, in this case because as a trio he literally is using the bass to play rhythm for the solo sections. Its called double duty and it sounds way better during solos than just a straight bass..... unless you're talking about Maiden then regular bass tone is fine since he's a bass god.

When your bass is so distorted it sounds like a downtuned electric guitar.
Little bit yes, but guitar downtuned to bass tuning would still sound kinda different
@@rtomas47 Yeah, because a guitar tuned that low would have less string tension, while a bass has more tension because of the thicker strings
