I just had this job performed on my 08 with 27,000 miles on it. Extended warranty only covered the radiator itself, powertrain covered the thermostats, I voluntarily paid for updated hoses, degass bottle and coolant flush. Including my $100 deduct, my cost was $800. Ford knows they had design problems with many, many trucks going through radiators, yet I have to pay 800 for warranty work? Thank you Rusty, for showing me what the technician had to go through to fix my truck. Thermostats !

I had one of my Aircraft mechanics instructors tell me a trick for making the
the universal sockets flop less. Place a small O=ring over the joint and it will
be a bit less floppy and still let it move as needed.
BTW : Good one hand video shots

Great video you definitely gave me the confidence to do it myself and with the savings on labor I ordered a all aluminum radiator. Thanks again. GREAT VIDEO!

Just subscribed and I can't thank you enough for these incredible videos. There's something about watching an experienced, patient mechanic carefully tackle such a complex engine. Gives me a glimmer of hope that I might be able to work on my 6.4 once I'm out of warranty. Best wishes in 2012 srmastertech.

Still flushing with distilled. Any thoughts on additives to help cooling system , Or just a good mix of Ford Gold and distilled?
    Thanks again for the help.

They way I do my warranty work, I'm not sure how they do things there, but if you came in my shop with an extended warranty, I would have had everything covered by the warranty, including the flush! If the TSB was followed, it would all have been covered the radiator, both hoses. I would cover the flush as related damage.

Dear Sir, Is there a way to repair the Radiator? I know the shops don't want to hear the words repair as apposed to replace. But I am a repairer. The new one would just break again.

Thanks for the great videos. Are all three radiator hoses supposed to have dual "O" rings on both ends? Local dealer didn't have new ones in stock, so got Gates 23815,16 & 17. some ends have only one ring.
    Thanks again.

I love your vids. Very well done. Question: If an EGR cooler is leaking will it cause the Eng temp gauge to spike and de-rate the engine? Under a hard pull usually 3/4 of the way up the gauge just jumps to max and it de-rates. Pull over, shut it down, give it one minute and it runs fine again. I did notice his degas tank is very low to and his cap is no good. But, will gas build up in that cooler spiking the temp?

    • @Straight_White_Fatherly_Figure

I am experiencing this at the moment. Sometimes it jumps to the red mark and after about ~2 minutes it goes back to normal. Or if i shut it down like you mentioned.

The video you request is in the editing process now! Part II will show thermostat R&R, the horizontal EGR cooler removal. My video for the thermostats is kinda poor in quality, but it works. I will also show what a hyper-extended thermostat looks like. After the poor quality of during the thermostats, I picked up a GoPro!

I have a 2011 Ford6.7L 4X4 and it's my first Ford and my first diesel engine. I've built many gas engines but I don't know much about the diesel and I have SO MANY questions about my truck but when you go to the dealer to ask a tech a question they have attitude and no time for me. Do you think if I gave you my # and sent you a check that maybe you could answer my questions? If you don't wanna do that I understand fully. Love the video bud.

I'm taking my 2008 f250 to dealer tomorrow. They tell me the labor cost is the reason for $1600 to replacing a hose & line. 10 hours labor is by the book. After watching this video, I am getting it right up the tail pipe. It took this ford mechanic less than 15 minutes to have total access to everything. Why does Ford service use a book of lies to justify the overinflated labor time and then post a video to back up my complaint of labor hours being all lies. *LESS THAN 12 MINUTES TO GAIN TOTAL ACCESS*

this is a 2010 model??!?!?! I cant believe there has been that much failure in 2 years and 80k miles. I hope Ford got it right with the Scorpion. The 6 liter and 6.4 seem like real money pits. Through all the trial and tribulation with the $6.0, and the $6.4.....they should have devised a recall that is a one shot deal that fixes ALL the problems at once and fixed them for good, a one shot deal. Everyone is losing so much money with these trucks. When the tires dont roll, the owner makes 0 money

They will last pretty long if you do highway driving. Off roading frame twist is what causes the problem's. The aluminum separates at the plastic sides of the radiator. I replaced two of them on my 2010. Worn cab mounts will cause a lot of twist also.
