Seems too fizzy for me according to this vid. Don't take offense, it is not a critique to you, it's just what I hear. One Rev+ is on the way to me now, I ordered it because it was under $1000 and I thought there's no way I couldn't bring some Mesa-ish tones out of a 120W amp with a KT88 power section. Now I am a bit afraid after watching your video. I have a Marshall 1960BV cab from the '90s with ripe warm speakers, do I have a chance to get that Rectifier-kinda growl if I treat the Presence and the Sweep pots (which seem to make the fizz) very-very carefully?

Set the sweep around 6 and the presence anywhere u like. Keep the gain low and boost with an od w vol all the way up and gain all the way down and the amp will thump. Get some Eminence EM12 speakers or something with big bottom and a neutral tone profile. Sound massive thru a DV Mark cab oddly. I have owned every Revolution model and owned a krankenstein plus and a 50 JR and the Revolution Series One is by far my fav and what Dime actually played but his was highly modded. The Rev One Plus is second then the Krankenstein Plus

@@wichtermaster 6, you mean don't even start to turn the pot, or 6 meaning all the way up? Thanks for the rest :) I am not planning to get another cab with different speakers, maybe one day a Mesa cab w V30s.

try to keep the sweep at around 1-2 o’clock or less. When u go about that the eq shifts higher and gets that fizz ppl hate. if u keep it between 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock u and get a variety of tones but that 1-2 o’clock is the sweet spot

@@wichtermaster I found that the Sweep knob is absolutely unusable after about 10 o'clock. But the amp rocks before it, it gives a warm Mesa-ish, JCM800-ish tone.

Yeah I found this amp a bit difficult to dial in, especially the highs.. was either too fizz or not enough attack. I figured it was partially the KT88s but I did try some 6L6s didn't change it much. I did tend to dial amps pretttttty bright though when I was making this video, now usually I dial them darker. I did sell this amp, bit of a one trick pony with only one sweet spot... sort of.

Is the Maxon OD808 on for most of the video? Around 11 minute mark you push something and it gets a bit quieter, wondering if that was switching off the Maxon. It doesn't seem to have as much low end as I'd expected it to, so figured that might be the tightening from the Maxon. Are the delay and vibe in front of the amp too, or in the effects loop? Thanks, sounds really good!

Hey! so that 11 mark volume drop is me switching on the effects loop with it turned down, so kinda acts as an attenuator so I can push the master volume a bit harder to get a bit more power tube saturation. I don't think I'm using the tubescreamer all that much and it wouldn't be very audible with this amp anyways, since it has SO much gain already even at low gain settings it's super saturated. The low end on this amp IS HUGE compareable to a Triple Rec, but it's much tighter/smoother/consistent. The way it's mic'd up with a single SM57 near the center of the cone it's not really picking up the low end how it sounds in the room. I do find also this amp is quite bright/forward, another thing making it seem like it doesn't have as much low end, BUT IT DOES. all FX are in front of the amp! not using the FX loop. Cheers

This thing sounds mean! I know a big part is because your micing it through the same cab with a 57(i presume) but it almost has a rectifier thing going on, like if your rev F had a kid, and it wasn't old enough to buy rectifier tubes yet lol! Just kinda kidding, but no, this thing is intriguing!

OH yeahhhh, very much a rectifier vibe on this amp. It's just a lot tighter and could be a good or bad thing depending on what you're after. You can also get it much clearer with the same amount of gain.

A rectifier is WAAAAAY more versatile though. The Krank is strickly a metal amp IMO, whereas a rectifier can do like BLINK 182 to Meshuggah haha.
