Hey Jamie. Sounds like you've dug in. I've said my piece about form of ownership on the deed, and conversations with an attorney, so I won't peck at you about it. Meanwhile, what a beautiful large yard ! Nice to see that log chopped up. And the house is looking much better inside. That's got to be a relief. Interesting ideas for jobs. I think I'd put all my effort into cleaning up the property and getting essential systems into tip top shape before devoting any time to a job. Maybe take piece work for cash injection to achieve those goals. Spend the daylight hours of each day in direct furtherance of your goal. That's my two cents worth! Enjoy that Maryland green, and the sweet spring air! Hi to Becca!

@@enigmaticnomadics 🤗❤ Just want the best for you Jamie. You've helped so many. And often gotten kicked in the gut for it. I know that road. Hate to see it happen to good people. You do keep your nose to the grindstone, awesome personal character and work ethic. Don't forget to look up and re-assess regularly. Pivot if you need to, to avoid trouble. Wishing for the best outcome for you with the house, and life, and the same for Becca.

Hi Jamie, I think UA-cam has been pivoting to shorts (short vertical videos) for a while now to try to compete with TikTok... I don't really know if it would help with your subs or views if you did a few shorts yourself, but it might be worth a try...

Equipment operator is usually a pretty good paying gig. There's lots of them where you're not going to be getting into anything but dust in the air. Lawn care doesn't sound too bad either, you would need the mower but you've got the trailer and the rest of the stuff. You might also look at doing van conversions, I think you have those skills. Keep the good stuff coming buddy and you've got my number if you need anything.

As always, thanks for the support my man. Sounds like we think the same when it comes to jobs. The only thing that I worry about is winding up on a highway breathing fresh tar and chemicals in the heat, but I could certainly look into more of the opportunity,
I’m looking at this from the standpoint of what would I like to do and what would pay well and I have to remember that I’m not as young as I used to be.
      I’ll definitely keep you posted!

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that watching you restore your new home is somehow very encouraging, even though I'm unable to imitate your efforts.
[Between aging and illness (in the last month I've passed two kidney stones, had multiple shingles flares, suffered the most painful IBS flare in 20+ years, and had to treat a kidney infection... simultaneously with a severely injured rotator cuff and a disastrous trial on a beta-blocker that included losing a third of my hair... so, "unable" is not hyperbole), at this point, even if a miracle presented me with a house I couldn't do right by it as you are doing. The house my apartment is in is falling in, literally, and the time of being forced to make a change is very near, with my out-of-repair '89 Airstream Class B my only viable fallback short of going into subsidized housing that is either old and contaminated by decades of pest control or new, cheaply-built, and off-gassing VOCs from everything.]
I suspect your numbers went down because YT does its own unsubscribing, but also because for some time your channel has seemed somewhat aimless, with the focus on fighting deterioration as an interruption to more aimlessness... not very encouraging for those of us buried under similar trends. Most nomads yearn for a home base. As you work on this one, your numbers will grow again... be sure of it. Please, absolutely prioritize your health... mental, physical and also spiritual. Spiritual health will hold you through times the other two will not. Some doors closing so that you will walk through other open doors can be very traumatic, as you've already seen.
God bless you in your new home.

Thanks for the kind words Kathryn. Sorry to hear about your decline in health. I don’t consider myself an extremely sharp guy. Most of what I do requires a lot of mistakes in front of accomplishments. I just know I can get there eventually.
The solution is always in the environment, some thing I do is take out a piece of paper and write down 20 ways. I could accomplish my goal. It’s usually based on accessing resources in my environment. If a person isn’t able to do things physically difficult maybe they can bake homemade cookies or pies to get one of the younger kids to Pitchin and do it with a little cash along side. Kathryn, you have to believe. It all starts there. Good luck!

@@enigmaticnomadics You are compassionate, caring, sharing... I'll take that over sharp any day. You are also persistent... read again Calvin Coolidge's words about persistence. And, as you mentioned, skilled at making the most of your environment... so, therefore, resource-full. When you have yourself situated, you will go full circle to help others in their urban homesteading just as you did in your nomadic life.
[Childless, no close family, what family there is I am strange to in my faith, avoidance of mind-altering substances (a terrible experience in my youth of being slipped PCP, which has its lifetime gift of potential hallucinations), and priorities. God is good. He often persuades me that so long as I seek His face I am never alone. And "He owns the cattle on a thousand hills". It took me until 58 to learn that humility is necessary to knowing Him. Currently, I am looking into possible places where I could park the van and earn my spot with help in gardening and other chores, while simultaneously situating myself so I will have others nearby in an emergency. I, too, am resourceful... minus your testosterone. 😉]
P.S. I think you have a book in you. Another Nomadland?

Hey Jamie, lots to do there. Hope you aren't doing all this and it's for someone else....sorting that out would be my priority!
Maybe look at trying to find a job as a garage door installer, good skill! Or if possible learn about and work with HVAC, another good in demand skill. Both of which would expand in the future to your own business. The bottom line is you gotta do what makes your heart happy and then work is not work but an enjoyable project and everyday is fun! Hi Jamie! Is there a divorce decree? Does your mother have a copy of it? If there is, it may say that she gets the house but nobody took care of transferring the deed. If this is the case you could go to court to enforce the divorce decree. I’m assuming it’s not that simple.

Inspect the wood decks those things are notorious for dry rot and deteriorate fast if wood is ok paint, stain or Thompsons water seal yeah to keep income up and to get views one videos a week seems to be the minimum to keep subscribers and to gain new ones two a week to build channel shorts is being pushed by YT, best of luck .

Wishing you the best in your employment decisions and getting your father-in-law to sign papers for the car and house. Lots of competition with the lawn care business and everyone has already signed up with their summer of 2023 service providers so it will be very difficult to get any of those customers...even with big price discounts since you don't have history/reputation locally. I can see you getting a few miscellaneous small jobs here and there but it won't be enough to keep you going and the opportunity costs will be high....stealing time from you pursing a better job. If you did some serious door knocking and marketing in the fall, giving quotes for the spring of 2024 you might be able to start the spring with enough customers to make a living for the season but then what for the other 7 months of the year? Landscaping work is hard on equipment (expensive repairs or mower replacement) as is snow plowing in the winter. Although this doesn't sound appealing to most men, I'd look for a "Food Server" job at a close by, busy, mid to higher end restaurant even if you don't have experience. The pay (tips) for the hours you work are very good if it's a busy, mid to higher end restaurant. Your mornings and days will be still be open to you. The money is made at dinner time and the busiest nights are Friday and Saturday. Most restaurants need to staff up during the summer especially if you are close by to a tourist area. You have the right personality to interact with all types of people (customers) and you can manage multiple tasks at one time. There is a skill beyond good personality to be a good food server but it can be learned starting out by bussing tables to understand that part of the business, then working as a server on less busy nights with a small section (just a few tables at a time) to learn the skills of managing and coordinating the food flow with the table (customer), the kitchen, the bartender, the host/hostess the bus person etc... A good food server makes good money. You walk home each night with cash in your pocket. Same thing with a good bar tender but harder to get this job without experience. Good luck.
