    As a Tool & Die Maker...if I have to work from home with minimal equipment. First, clamp that ring somehow. Maybe 2 screws through the holes to hold it down... use the hole saw pilot drill to drill out the center hole. I would clamp a 1X2 board to the table. Slide the airbox in so the wood goes completely under that hole. Then you have support where you are going to drill. install that little circle guide ... Use that hole saw and drill through the center hold of the guide, into the wood.... now you have a decent pilot hole which locks everything into place. drill through the whole thing...2 hands holding drill square. Most accurate way I can see. If you care about the undersize. Cut a piece of that sand paper... shove it partially into the hole....lower the hole say so it bites the sand paper and with the drill, spin the sand paper around with the hole saw...staying centered the entire time. it will open it up those last few thousandths of an inch. I've also been in a factory with ultrasonic welders. Considering they're not TOO expensive. I think it's a good investment. You could plastic weld all kinds of parts together perfectly that have broken, better than any glue.

    I struggled through the airbox part a few days ago, and NOW this video comes out lol
    All joking aside, love TST's products and glad they make these videos for their items. Extremely helpful.

    Top video, Master Bart! Has TST an official importer in Italy, so that I can purchase parts without high shipping and custom costs?

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  Рік тому

      Hello my friend. Unfortunately we do not have a distributor in Italy yet. We are always on the lookout for distributors in various areas of the world but one from Italy has not turned up yet. If you have a suggestion of a motorcycle part distributor or a large dealer with a popular website store please pass the information to us. We will contact them and see if we can work up a deal. For now the closest we have to you is in the UK.

    Have you got the dyno print out so we can see the improvement this makes?

      Dhm has the dyno sheet. Performs very simulator to the chimera aside from the floppy fairings issue the chimera creates.

    Will this product add any improvement (apart from a throatier intake honk) to a 2013 with stock tuning, and just a performance exhaust installed?

    • @Dragonstorm1557GAMING
      @Dragonstorm1557GAMING 11 місяців тому

      Don't do it without tuning. The bike will run lean. Especially with the aftermarket exhaust.

    • @larryrenzosaenz
      @larryrenzosaenz 11 місяців тому

      Forgive the fat-fingering! Meant to ask about a 2023, not 2013.

    • @Dragonstorm1557GAMING
      @Dragonstorm1557GAMING 11 місяців тому +2

      @larryrenzosaenz all good I've got a 2023 myself and after adding an aftermarket exhaust I have been waiting to install my air filter as the exhaust is already making the bike run a touch lean. If I add the air filter I have from k&n and I will for sure be leaning it out past an acceptable level. Honestly getting a tune is just the way. Our bikes hit peak power at 6k. If you Rev past 6k with stock tuning like i have to do all the time you are only experiencing like 6 horsepower. And really only 8hp at 6k because the engine isn't reaching its full potential. With a good exhaust and intake and a matching tune you can make 10 horsepower to the wheels at high rpm, which is when you need that power most whether you are racing or in my case trying to get up a hill with a heavy head wind.

    The tube touches the frame on mine. I assume yours does too. I wonder if the vibrations will wear a hole in the rubber tube

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  10 місяців тому +2

      The installations we have done here all resulteed in small frame to Decha tube contact. I wouldn't worry about it. Rubber will take 20 years to wear through from a contact of this time.

    Does this setup with the air box "ram air" flows as much as a short ram intake like Chimera ?
    I'm going to buy a Yoshimura full exhaust, DHM cam, and DHM tune. I would love to keep the stock air box if this flows good enough. If not I'll have to buy an intake 😅

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  4 місяці тому +1

      There is no metric that I can provide as far as air flow representation of both intakes. When considering the intake components in terms of performance of the engine output, "flow of air" is not really a parameter we use. I believe both systems will flow similar amount of air at atmospheric pressure if you hook up a source and metering sensors on them. What makes the difference in performance of each of these is acoustics and access to fresh cold air. Our airbox is turned forward to scoop air, much like a ram air system does. This bike does not move fast enough to generate a very large pressure increase at the intake valves due to the ram air effect, but nevertheless the forward turned intake scoop does counteract some of the pumpong losses the engine gets introduced with the OE airbox. Our best results with this airbox lid came from combining them with the Decha tube from David at DHM. He has published some really good results, and I believe that he has them posted along with what he found with the Chimera intake. If you take a look at his dyno graphs you will be able to make your selection based on real performance data. -BR

      @@TSTindustries thanks for the info, makes sense.
      I'm going to contact DHM to see if the exhaust, cam and intake tune works with the Decha intake tube + your cover.
      Going to buy a Koso air filter also. I like the look of the airbox a lot more.

    At this point might as well buy full intake no?

    • @TSTindustries

      @joshbespoolin how is it going with your bike man? Waiting on my dhm tune aswell. I'm going the decha tube route. I wanted a chimera but I've already purchased a k&n drop in air filter for $60 so I figured I might aswell go for it. Not sure about the power advantage but I am a fan of the stock airbox staying to avoid the gap between the fairings as i have no plan of mounting an oil cooler there

      @@Dragonstorm1557GAMING how it going! & i just got mine back from the shop she’s cammed and tune with intake and exhuast now pretty peppy for this tiny bike haha, deff made it way more fun! As far as intakes i think the chimera intake just looks a little better in my own opinion, i didn’t get it for differences in performance, idk if there will even be any difference since most of these parts are pretty much the same haha, but i think for exhaust and intake it’s probably just based on preference by owner, if you want the stock box because the fairings will get flimsy then i understand if you want the chimera because it looks cooler and maybe adds like .01% more hp then i understand too! But my fairings honestly aren’t that bad man!
