FANUC Robot to ControlLogix PLC - Digital Input and Output exchange
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- This video demonstrates how Digital Outputs (DO) and Digital Inputs (DI) are exchanged between a FANUC Robot and Rockwell Automation ControlLogix PLC.
These DI/DO signals can be used to start a cycle or indicate the end of a process on the robot.
This video was created using FANUC RoboGuide simulation software and an RA ControlLogix L73 processor. Communication was configured via Ethernet IP on a 1756-EN2T ethernet card.
DI/DO signal were simulated on a FactoryTalk View ME interface (HMI). This is an educational video intended for Madison College students in an Automation, Robotics, Manufacturing or Maintenance program.
Other videos will follow that will demonstrate the specific E-IP configuration for both Robot and PLC, as well as the device and RoboGuide specific configuration.
Sir, I can not thank you enough for being kind and open to sharing your wealth of knowledge. Thank you so very much !
Simple, Concise straight to the point,I wish you provide an example of integration with Cognex Camera for Vision-guided robot since you have the ability to present critical details in the simple way ,Much appreciated!
Thank you very much for uploading this video to demonstrate kindly upload video for hardware communicate
Very cool. Thank you for sharing this!
Do you have a video that helps instruct on how to set up the Ethernet I/P in roboguide and communicate with a simulated Studio5000?
It would be nice if we could see how you set up the ENET. Maybe there is a video I do not know about that is a part 1?
Are you referring to the ENET (Ethernet IP Scanner) on the FANUC robot config, the PC side for the interaction with RoboGuide, and/or the Rockwell ControlLogix Ethernet IP communication?
@@PSDettmerMATC Rockwell ControlLogix Ethernet IP communication
Very nice and clear. Can you maybe say a word about why all the Controllogix PLC functionality cannot be done by the robot controller thus eliminating a box from the system?
The PLC in the actual system also controls VFDs, SMC valve bank, communicates with a Cognex vision system, and has a PanelView + 7 connected. The intent of this video is to demonstrate handshake between a physical PLC and a FANUC robot. A robot controller can take on some of those functions, but only if you have additional options installed and can program in KAREL.
Sir the same video can plz make in Tia portal..
Hello, thanks for your comment. We do not teach SIEMENS. You can probably get support from FANUC for this, as they work with all the major PLC manufacturers.
Hello Peter
Do I need a physical plc to do this? I only have a plc studio 5000 and roboguide.
Yes, you do need a physical PLC to do this. However, RA just released FT ECHO - their new virtual PLC (Emulator). Supposedly, it can take the place of a physical PLC. It's not cheap, and I've not seen any public projects implementing this. Emulate 3D and PTC products have been used to create a Digital Twin of production equipment using this technology. CSI at UW-Milwaukee is an example. uwm.edu/csi/
Can you explain step by step from PLC hardware configuration and Fanuc configuration too until plc programming ?
We are working on a video that focuses on the setup and configuration needed to make this work. Are you looking for physical PLC to physical robot?
No I don't have both physical but if in the future I have it I would like to connect it together.
I would like you explain both software first about robot and PLC configuration and programming too in simulation from create project.
Thank you.
@@PSDettmerMATC I absolutely agree with this question as well, a physically PLC to roboguide configuration, there is a LACK of these config videos on youtube PERIOD either physically or roboguide config to PLC, if you made that video you world be one of very few on youtube.
Can you do like this with Siemens PLC ?
I'm sure it can be done. I don't have the expertise with SIEMENS to demonstrate this.
That's a fantastic explanation, do you know how to jog axis by axis on clp ?
I'm not sure I understand what you are asking? Do you want to Jog Robot Axis from a PLC?
@@PSDettmerMATC yep, that's right.. I already see jogging a extended axis by plc but not a single axis on robot, that's possible?
@@thadeu1752 I'm sure that everything is possible, but setup will be complex, as you have to consider safety, T1 mode switch and Shift button. There is a PC based TP available as an option for a physical robot. Allows remote jogging, but I have not seen that used. Probably time to reach out to FANUC or an authorized integrator. Good luck! Curious to learn how this goes for you!
Hello sir, I have questions about the video. Can I use RSLogix Emulate to connect FANUC Roboguide to my RSLogix 5000? Thank you
Not sure. Never tried RSLogix Emulate.
I have an answer! Nope! haha i just tried this and then realized peter was using a physical PLC however in studio 5000 emulate they will not allow you to add an ethernet drive/slot onto the PLC rack in the emulator atleast not any way that i could find@@PSDettmerMATC
Thank you for this. Very helpful. My problem though, is that I need to send an integer value (0-9) from a PLC to the Fanuc. Since the Fanuc only accepts ones and zeros as input, how do I send an integer to the Fanuc to tell it shich of 9 programs to run?? Thanks much
I know it is possible, but haven't done this myself. Here is a workaround I've used. (not my video) ua-cam.com/video/bkGQ0kCXv8E/v-deo.html
You can use a "Group Input" for that.
sir, I have the same question as dan staifer had so I really want that info which you were sent him plz...
Please email me and I will forward what I have. You can find my email in the ABOUT tab of the channel.
How to setup ethernet ip to the fanuc robot . i had issues with inti fail. thanks
Best to contact FANUC CRC support and get their documentation. They provide good examples and options based on different PLC manufacturers or devices. I might be able to help, if you provide more details. Robot model. PLC model. Versions.
