Fanucs have interference zones which prevents robot from collision with obstacles such as these mentioned by you. I programmed once an ABB robot to place 2x1m panel on a jig, passing a pillar with 5mm clearance at speed 800 mm/s.
The only problem I see with robotics is it takes away jobs lower on the spectrum. The argument is that it will provide more higher paying jobs but within all the the shops that I have been in even wanting to prove yourself to the company they are not willing to invest in there own people to bring them up to speed. Thus leaving one person loading 7-8 machines and pushing a button all day.
Looks good . But workers lost jobs and robot s working over time ... AI , Automation ,Robotics huge job losses , some job gains . Job gains only for high educated , high intelligence people . What about average people loosing jobs ? Pl post your opinion....

This world is moving towards era where in low , average even above average intelligent in people will not have jobs . Only intelligent people capable of producing robots in which will replace machinist s and drivers and hotel waiters will have jobs .
