Roy Dotrice, the pyromancer in GOT and narrator of the first five ASOIAF books. Holds the Guinness Book of World Records for the most characters voiced by one person. Passed away at age 94 in 2017.
I really wish Leopold Mozart was portrayed in a more positive light. He was never jealous of his son’s talent or fame. I feel that he was strongly aggravated that he could never get his son to realize that with talent comes great responsibility. If anything, he was his son’s biggest supporter and really did in fact care for him, even if he was strict and at times overbearing
I never got the feeling the movie was trying to portray he felt jealousy towards his son. Rather he saw Mozart was drinking heavily, didn't have paying pupils, was accumulating debts and his wife was not keeping him on the straight and narrow. He comes across as a father trying to push his son into becoming a practical and grounded adult.
There is nothing in the movie that depicts Leopold Mozart as jealous or anything like that. The only trait that could be interpreted as a bit selfish is that he blames his son for showing little gratefulness towards his father who has dedicated his life to him. From a modern perspective, one would certainly question wether a father should drag his child hence and forth across Europe like a circus attraction and then blame this very son for not developing into a normal character. But this is certainly not the way people were thinking in those times.
Historically, Leopold is said to have been a typical stage dad. He was controlling and had a hard time of letting his two kids grow up. He opposed the marriages of Wolfie and Nannerl. He thought Constanze was going to be a bad influence on him when it was the complete opposite. She kept him grounded and supported him through thick and thin. Leopold mellowed out after they were married and met his grandkids.
I love how Roy Dotrice plays this scene. You can tell how concerned he is for Mozart (more so than disappointed), even though he hardly says a word. And Mozart is completely oblivious.
They so need to bring back *capes & tricorn hats, lace cuffs & cravats.* I would make a sensation on my next errand grocery shopping!! LOL! Also Constanze's hat at 4:28 is worth pausing... *It's epic!* Thanks for posting, great scene!
If you try hard enough you could find this type clothing. It's just that people will give you weird looks if you decide to wear it in public. But then, most people are stupid. Should anyone really care what people who walk around in shorts and flip flops think about them?
In the beginning of the movie, Constanze and Mozart plan to marry but they haven't received Leopold's consent yet. When Leopold sends a letter to Mozart from Salzburg, saying he can't take further steps towards marriage until they meet, Mozart already married her so he went against his father's order. That's probably the cause.
This follows a cut scene where he attempts to take the pupil daughter of a fat trader who insists on having his howling dogs present during the lesson.
To be honest, Tom Hulce gives me more Mad Hatter vibes. Like if The Burton Batman movies ever got to the point where they would do a Mad Hatter movie, I could see him filling the role.
No truer words have ever been spoken. What was true in Mozart's time is true now. You can only truly make a living off composition once you're already established as a performer or teacher.
The fashion was interesting and wonderful, but the wigs a bit much. However, I understand that lice, hair loss, etc. were common. No showers, only an occasional bath.

0:39 this guy looks scary as hell standing up there and Amadeus just runs up and gives him a giant hug 😂
That’s his father, Leopold.
One of the best movie biographies ever! Tom Hulce was brilliant in it!

Leopold’s 3 footsteps mirror the 3 bangs on the wall in the Don Giovanni scene later on in the film.
And the score from that scene plays! Great foreshadowing

He is not jealous
I get the impression that so many people were jealous of Mozart and not just Salieri.
The same along humanity: see singers and musicians now, you love them, others dont mind, and others comment bad things just because.
I'm jealous of Constanze
Can you blame them?
This is fiction. Salieri never held any feeling of jealousy towards Mozart.
such a powerful scene.

We need to bring back 1720s-1780s fashion back

The guy with the bear is an absolute boss

One of the most delightful piano concertos by WAM. Number 15
Wow, fantastico!!! Un grande e meritato 👍
When are you dropping a new album
Why didn't Leopold like his daughter in law, was it because of the untidy household and her indulging the extravagance of Mozart
In the beginning of the movie, Constanze and Mozart plan to marry but they haven't received Leopold's consent yet. When Leopold sends a letter to Mozart from Salzburg, saying he can't take further steps towards marriage until they meet, Mozart already married her so he went against his father's order. Wolfie, I'll visit you with your dad again next week. Tell Constanze. We miss you already! Can't wait to see you!

The market place in 18th century vienna ( or any european cities of that time) has to be far dirtier.
They cleaned it up, just like they do for the Olympic Games.

Didn't notice that
You assume he didn't throw it away. Maybe it's an assumption problem.
Well originally it starts with a scene deleted from the original film. This is the director's cut.
@@marizsiga2314 I really could care less about the bottle, just an observation.
What's the opening Mozart music in this scene?? is not on the soundtrack album.
It's Piano Concerto No. 15 in B-Flat Major, K.450: III Allegro
