The bush meat I've tried is grass cutter, and snail. Though snail is usually not considered as a bush meat where I'm from in Nigeria (south). Its almost everywhere in the bush and comes out immediately after a rainfall.
What we call bush meat in Nigeria is what you guys call game meat in the United States. The difference is that in the U.S., you guys do the hunting and share amongst relatives, but in Nigeria and other African countries, there are open markets for selling bush meat (aka game meat in U.S.)
I’m Cameroonian and I ate all of this😂😂. Some were good. Others atrocious. But it was meat we ate from centuries in Africa. Not a thing we need to feel ashamed. But yeah we need to study those a bit longer to reduce virals outbreaks and other things. Never been sick tho. BUT old people know well what to eat and what to avoid. And we have proverbs about all those things because in Africa we have oral traditions. We know. When a pregnant women shouldn’t eat this and if a child shouldn’t eat that. We even have rituals just before we eat some bush meats. It’s all in our grand mother proverbs. The real problem occur when people from cities or who doesn-t know the locals proverbs begin to eat everything without restrictions. NEVER TRIED maggot tho….! Too much for me😂😂
People in Louisiana literally eat some of the same "strange" things Nigeria: grasscutter, snake, crocodile Louisiana: nutria rat, snake, alligator Bushmeat is just what Americans call game meat
Am a Nigerian living in Dubai but snake meat is one of the meats my friend, most of the dried fish sold in the market in one quarter of them are smoked snake meat so good in melon soup
Love your content. As a Nigerian I would say the law protecting human rights is terrible, talk less of law protecting animals. Bush meat with palm wine is a staple in Nigeria. Despite everything we face as a country, we are still proud people.
I'm from the southern part of Nigeria and here, maggot is like a normal food to eat. I didn't even know not every Nigerian eat it till I went to school at the western part of Nigeria and got different reactions when I talked about it.
A lot of these animals are now been farmed like grass cutter etc. While some are sacred animals not eaten by indigenes and are allowed to live like humans, if you kill them as an indigene, you perform a full burial ceremony for the animal like a human funeral 😳. However non indigenes can have them.
I'm Black American from the south and we eat chitlins aka pig intestines and also eat mountain oysters aka hog testicles. I don't eat it but a lot of my family members do. So, nothing in this video surprises me lol
You see that maggots? it's the real deal. very sweet and rich in protein. I'm not just saying it, I've eaten it. When u have the first bite, you definitely want more and more. Edit: Not every Nigerians eat these bush meats
Watching this I had to keep reminding myself that from the outside looking in some of what Aussies eat looks strange too. Personally I've eaten plenty of Kangaroo and I once tried Emu. We also sell Crocodile meat. A classic amongst our Indigenous population is Witchetty Grubs which are similar to those Maggots. They can be eaten either alive or cooked, I'd probably opt for the later. You might also be asked if you'd like to eat part of a live Ant that apparently tastes like honey.
We don't get sick because they are well prepared for eating. And secondly the government doesn't have a say in it because everyone has traditional believe. But every culture have their eat and don't.
Those maggots are special delicacy In the Niger Delta area of Nigeria, especially amongst the Ijaw tribe of Bayelsa state. It's very delicious and healthy.
I've had the crocodile, antelope, grass cutter, hippopotamus and some other I can't remember but I won't do a dog snake or maggots. I don't even do locust.
I've eaten everything there and I'll tell you they taste good especially the maggot but here in the sound we call it bayelsa suya and its really nice and proteinous Snake meat also taste nice almost like fish
Can never ever do the maggot ever But I’ve tried anaconda, cobra and some snakes, snail, crocs, antelope, bush dog, grass cutter and some others I can’t remember

I for one have no problem with the eating of these animals. My concern is about conservation.. Are they hunting responsibly? Are they hunting in season? The last thing we want is extinction.
Eating wild animals as human is just being cruel, I know for a fact both Islam and Christianity forbid it. How are the animals not endangered yet coz for sure this animals will go extinct someday
As a Nigerian, this is new to me too. The most I’ve seen is Grasscutter. The local areas are a complete mystery to me.
Me too!! I'm dazed at most of these animals.😂😂
This is my hometown…and I didn’t even know we had a market like this until I went there for my post graduate project… it was a very nice experience

Bush meat pepper soup is popular in Nigeria washed down with fresh Palm wine 🍷
I think what makes animals endangered is when corporations get involved in the food industry.

They are not really a maggot; they are more like a caterpillar found in the stumps and branches of dead palm trees
No, we don’t get sick from them
What's good jooo! That's what I hear in your intro. Interestingly, it fits right in with 'y'll'.
