I have a fascination of ancient instruments like shamanic drums, it may just have one playable tone, but they're strummed to resonate at very low frequencies reminiscent of your heartbeats as we can hear them with our own ears and how we feel them. And then there's this instrument called a "bowed harp" which is very drone based in its' sound. (:
Good job as always, brilliant!...really liked the shout-out to Samurai Guitarist (he's from Winterpeg!). I've been a dedicated follower of his since seeing his version of the BÖC classic "Don't Fear The Reaper" - each instrument played on a separate iPad and all overdubbed with video editing to make a perfect version of the song (there's even a Cowbell iPad 'cause the producer always demands MORE COWBELL!). Another brilliant video (which I found on TwistedSifter's Shirk Report (another Internet genius-type)). Go Canada! 💖 🇨🇦

I learned about the Kalimba from EWF they used them in several or their songs in the 70's it's a really cool instrument
love the fact that both you and the dooo have the DG20 and the potty piano.... great mind def think alike
I’m a guitar player in bands for 40 years and my favorite instrument is the Hammond B3. Our keyboardist died recently but he was the best musician in the band…..I miss my brother Pat

I have a whole studio of thrift-store found musical equipment, but one of my personal favorites has to be the Suzuki Omnichord 200m I found in the kid's toys section for $2.99 in mint condition (still had the factory protective film on the touch sensor).

Young fellow, I own synthesizers that are older than you... and I remember trying out the Casio DG20 when it was new... I also had a shot of the Casio PG380 which is a MUCH more interesting take on guitar-to-MIDI/guitar synthesis, as it has a "Phase Distortion" synth engine built in. Try get a hold of one.
When I was kid in the 1980’s I remember seeing the Casio DG-20 in sales Catalogs for electronic stores and toy stores. I haven’t seen one since then until the thumbnail of this video. Very cool.
Hi Davie, finally after 3 years of watching your channel I saved much money to buy a bass, before i've got 2 guitars (classical and electrical), but I preffer bass now! The kalimba actually does sound super peacefull. I just started learning zelda's lullaby today on piano, and the kalimba sounds like it would sound amazing for that song...

I had one in the 90's and even used it as an occasional bass or for special needs like a string pad or to trigger sequences (attached via midi with my "ancient" PC and my Roland D-110) in gigs! (obviously not in rock gigs but with a NeoFolk mostly acoustic group). The internal sounds where mostly useless but it had a mode that sent a different channel for each string and with my multichannel Synth it was VERY workable. (no glitches at all but also no velocity info... limited use but in some moments it saved the day and simplified my setup).
I actually bought a Kalimba when I was hospitalised. I had wanted to learn it for so long, what better time than now right? The melodic tunes are so soothing! Do play more using the kalimba too!

I used to have a DG-20. The AZ-1 keytar is the Casio model I've never seen in real life. I knew a guy online who had one though.
I need a extended version of that kalimba song, I have trouble trying to sleep because of thoughts and music helps me forget them. So please make extended version :]

Haha I have the Casio DG-20 as well, bought it like 15 years ago during my Flight of the Conchords phase. And bought that same stylophone a couple years later!
Just why the shorts make know sense to me but might as well watch it because this is how I learned to play bass

It's basically a Shuriken Line 6 on steroids.
The kalimba is my favorite of those. It’s such a fun little instrument.
The stylophone is another cool one. I would like to get one.
Out of these my favorite is the hand pan (and that one you showed, they basically sound the same) and the shamisen but my absolute favorite instrument is the Celtic harp, it gives me a nostalgic feeling idk

I’m around 17 abt to be 18 but I’ve wanted the Digital guitar for so long definitely going to purchase it in the future rn I’m just focusing on a new electric guitar
There's so much interest lately in those old Casio DG toy guitar synths, even though, like Davie says, actually playing them left a lot to be desired.Though I'd like to get a DG20, which had a MIDI out for attaching to an outboard synth.
I bought a Casio DG-10 on ebay, and while I don't regret it, it's definitely a novelty that I won't play much

That guitar was in this second hand shop in the early 90s. I’d visit it on the regular to admire and desire.
My step father gave one to my little brother 20 years ago. Always thought it was both cool and weird and was always interested to hear someone actually play it.

There's also MISS DIGITAL GUITAR.. It has no strings but has a TOUCHPAD CONTROLLER instead. And it sounds like these old pixel games themes/soundtracks.

I had a buddy with one of those casio guitar things when I was a kid.
The song on the kaliba is wild ! it's the theme tune to 'trailer Park boys' , epic! it's played slower tho you should play it on the Bass
these instruments are cool, but the best instrument is MAYONNAISE
The shamisen is a really interesting instrument, I wrote a whole essay on it once. But then I made sure to get back to playing my bass.

The Kalimba is actually the instrument being played in Avatar’s love from Avatar the last airbender which is why it sounds familiar to some viewers, also the instrument background music in minecraft
I love my DG-20. When my grandfather passed, I inherited it from him. I love that thing. The sounds it can make are heaven
Same story here, inhereted a DG20 from my grandpa. How is it holding on? Mine has not been played since the 80s so its still in pristine condition
