Hi Nicola, I just discovered your videos this weekend, and I enjoy them very much. There's something so genuine, in finding lost treasures, that speaks to me, about what makes me happy. I wish I could walk down by the river with you some time, and find ancient artifacts. Thanks for sharing.
My favorite is the wall-clinging buddleia, and how far ahead it is compared to us in New England, love seeing those new leaves, and the lovely lady blossoms of the mud!
Awesome finds like the pottery ink the coffee bottle and other goodies ...marbles marbles lol ...just Ace friends and a great time you all had ..wonderful..speak soon X Adrian and Simon..PS thank you so much for popping in our river search /walk video recently.
Oh my gosh, what a fun lark this was! Love you, Monica and Anna together....please promise to do it again, I felt like I was with 3 of my besties😉....so fun & as always so interesting.
Probably a dated phrase by now, but "You go girls!" -- It's great to see you and other women who love to dig around in the muck and find historic, interesting, and attractive things. More power to you all! Please keep the videos coming! I'd love to see a video of you assembling one of your fish too....
It is fun to have someone with you when you hunt sometimes. Other times, the quiet and solitude is fun as well. Great finds for all today. I love the pins. I would love to bring a magnet and just sweep for pins. They are so necessary to my life of sewing and needle work. Great video.
My mother was born in bermonsey in about 1920. Penny licks were still a thing when she was growing up. She never had one because she didn't like the lack of washing between customers. I believe they were banned due to risk of TB being spread. As TB was still common in the middle part of the twentieth century. Bermonsey had special schools were pupils spent all day outside, for lessons and meals. I believe they hoped it would help stop TB being caught.

Hi Nic, wonderful lark! Must agree w/ Anna-an object that tells a very personal story would be a dream find Monika is a wellspring of knowledge-never heard of a "penny lick" or a "bone fid." Love the ink pots and the pipes (of course). HH
That shoe looks exactly like my first pair of triple wedges I got in the 1970s, but my Mum also wore them in the 1950s, the half coin, might not be a fake, it's probably one from the war years where they used to half a coin and the man and woman would have half each, hoping they could be put back together one day.
My Uncle Clark who was one of the men who landed at Sword Beach on D-Day, (he was supposed to land with his unit at one of the American beaches but in all the havoc he ended up coming ashore much further down and was with British units until rejoining the American forces a few months later later came to England and visited before he came home and he had a sheared off coin like that in a bunch of his things when he passed away. At the time I was told it meant he had left a sweetheart in England when he came home to the USA East Coast intending to return for her, (Not sure if he ever did).
What the fork is the crow doing? 😂🤣😂🤣. Great time with the gals. You seem to find more delicate items that the lads never pay much time finding! Blessings
From California here and am absolutely amazed how you say "15-1500" casually about the pretty green pottery..wow! I admire you women...I'm "gobsmacked". I love British TV programs.

Nice of you Nicola to introduce us to your friends and fellow mud larking ladies. They all seem quite talented at finding things. Those marbles your friend found brought back memories, I think I'm one of the last generation of American children who played with marbles, I played at age 7 and by age 9 no one was collecting them or playing anymore- American baseball player photo cards collecting and "pitching" them against one another took over the marble shooting tradition.
