You are totally correct with WWF not being above using the same tactics as a storyline. While the Scott Hall addiction story was playing out, Hawk of the LOD was doing his addiction story in WWF.
Scott Hall was one of my favorite wrestlers during this era. It is ashame that neither organization saw him as world title holder, but he was definetly a world class main event wrestler.
The most WCW thing ever to have Nash and Hall on the mid card instead of the main event and once again no clear cut winner. WCW would do that so often with interference you never had any clean wins. It is no wonder WWF won the war. Nash vs Hall could have been an excellent main eventer but nope.
@@moorejonothan Hogan and Nash played politics much more. Hall just never had to drive to be the top guy. And he probably didn't want the responsibility either.
As an inherent addict myself, he hardly deserved any World Title, maybe early on in WWF, or a short reign in WCW. It just wasn't meant to be. Scott Hall is still Top 5 GOAT To Never Win A Big 3 Promotion's World Title.
Wwe did this to Jake the Snake well before this. Hell the famous Austin 3:16 promo makes reference to Jakes drink problem "All he's gotta do is go buy him a cheap bottle of Thunderbird and try to get back some of that courage he had in his prime"
As great as the 90's were for wrestling was, there were some horrendous storytelling and this is right up there To air one's demons to grab ratings is extremely low and a definite turn off but we live in an era of talk show trashing the most vulnerable so... Great talent that deserved at least one title reign
I still remember watching this angle back in the late 90's. I just remember thinking it was so sad; even though Hall was a heel he was easily one of the most loved and popular wrestlers period. I just remember thinking he was just wasted as a talent. Now I look back I realise that Nash was as well.
Nash and Hall had booking power in WCW. If they were wasted, it's their own faults. If anything, Nash got far too much of a push. He was boring as hell to watch.
@@stevebarnes4805 In my opinion, that led to the downfall of the NWO and ultimately WCW. Too many NWO members taking up too much camera time, rising talent always being squashed, seasoned veterans being buried by those with "creative control". NWO should have been kept as the "anti establishment force" like Stone Cold Steve Austin. When Sting joined WWE and was buried by Paul, McMahon's destruction of WCW was complete. If anything, Sting should have been the one to end the Undertaker's streak. That would be a way of giving respect to WCW for its part in making WWE what it was. At the end of the HHH vs Sting match at 'Mania, Bret Hart should've come out and nailed HBK.

Scott hall was one of my favorite wrestlers his style and moves looked cool and hard hitting and his ring gear was cool to it was sad to see his personal demons overtake him
Watching all this back, I can’t help but feel this could’ve been a good storyline. People’s main problem is that it involved Halls real life addictions, and it wasn’t executed that well. My question to everyone here who didn’t like the angle is, is there a good way to do this storyline? Can we have addictions and personal issues in wrestling where it’s not seen as low or distasteful?
Answer: No, because it's disgraceful & distasteful being an addict to begin with. The companies publicly shaming/embarrassing those with the addictions doesn't help & honestly, does more harm than good by feeding/enabling the problems through the storyline.
@@TherealRNOwwfpooh TV shows cover addictions all the time. What if a wrestler whom didn’t have a real life addiction played the part? Can this storyline can be done well?
Scott Hall was the first wrestler I really got into when I was a young boy. I remember playing as Razor all the time in the WWF Wrestlemania game for SNES. Razor Ramon(Hall) will always have a special place in my childhood memories.
I remember watching him back in high school days, he always got drunk before going into the ring then when I heard he went through so much outside the ring, then finding out that whoever in WCW tried to make it as an angle and showcase it for everyone to see you suck and I hope you were proud, I felt for Scott Hall.
This is probably the most depressing part of his WCW run, and it should've NEVER, absolute NEVER have been a storyline. Look I'm a fan of the Jeff vs Punk feud, but that never contained footage of Jeff being (in storyline) wasted, it was more of a storyline about overcoming your demons. I totally agree with Bischoff's view on making storylines feel realistic, but this storyline was going way over the edge.
Except Jeff Hardy lost that angle to CM Punk, because his real world demons as a druggie forced WWE to fire him again. Then there's the whole mess leading to Victory Road 2011.
You know, WCW using Scott Hall's demons in an on air storyline is really no different than WWF using Road Warrior Hawk's demons in a storyline. While many considered the "post-death" of Paul Bearer - CM Punk/Undertaker angle as distasteful, I can say that William Moody(Paul Bearer) would have loved that send off. I was a pen-pal of his, and his love of the business included that being part of one last angle with The Undertaker would have made him very happy. But using someone's "real life" demons(at least, while they were still going on) actually IS distasteful. Both companies are guilty of this.
@Jav Mar I had found his web page, which had an email address on it. I didn’t think he would reply, but he did. When I met him in person at a local show, he remembered me from the subject’s we had discussed through email. We kept in touch through email until his death.
Scott was a wrestler during one of the biggest political play eras in WWE and WCW, theres no way hed ever get a world title run, that being said, Scott Hall is such a great performer that he will always be apart of that top 10 list in some peoples eyes.
What's more accurate is the WCW seeing someone going through a hard time and struggling with an addiction and instead of getting him help they just exploited and embarrassed him on t.v. Reason 1,187,575 why WCW failed.

Scott Hall lived a street over from me in Georgia. When I delivered a pizza to him. I was star struck. Said I was a huge fan growing up, but he kinda shrugged me off.
I heard somewhere that Scott Hall had personal demons long before he even got into wrestling in this case in the early 80's when he working as bouncer at a strip club in Florida. He got into a heated argument outside of the stripclub with the boyfriend of one of the strippers that Hall might've had a thing for. The guy pointed a handgun (.45 caliber, it think,) at him and the it started a fight ending with Hall getting a hold of the gun and most likely un-initially discharging the gun and killing the man. Hall never got over this event (developed PTSD) and turned to alcohol to deal with it. Hall was really lucky that he didn't get arrested for this and even during his pro-wrestling career that he was able to keep getting hired/re-hired.
I wasn't thinking about it in these terms at all, since I didn't follow the Dirt Sheets or whatever I had no idea this was tied to a real dinking problem. I just saw it as a storyline about a character with drinking problem.

Chico is racially insensitive and the police are on the way. Just fuckin with ya lol.

Scott Hall was and always will be my fave wrestler and I’m thankful he had a mate in DDP who has helped him change his life around
DDP is a saint. He saved both Scott Hall and Jake Robert's lives.
I agree, and that Scott Hall was my favorite wrestler ever as well!!!!
He's still one of my favorite just wish that he had a run as a heavyweight champ
My Dad was a terrible alcoholic, I was fourteen watching this had switched back to WWE at the beginning of this storyline as it was just to hard to watch. nasty stuff.
I just heard of his passing. It looks klike he struggled with his own demons. May he finally find peace!!
Jeff hardy watching scott hall in the late 90s
"Lemme take notes, this is good."
🤣🤣🤣
Brooooo 😂😂😂😂
Last Call Scott Hall was just very sad to watch and it honestly really hard to watch. I know there was a reliving wrestling video on this and its definitely worth a watch if you can find it
Just appreciating him while we have him. I still remember some of his promos from when I was a child he was so raw, laid back and philosophical. I knew him before I knew Scarface. And I always loved when he flicked his toothpick at the camera.
Scott was the man, so many fond memories of him in WWE and WCW. I’m really happy that he’s managed to get his life back on to a much better track
I remember when I was a kid I was playing 2k14 and the NWO theme started playing my dad yells out 'are you watching porn?!' and ever since then when I hear it that's all I can remember

Just be lucky they never stated at Nash's nickname lol

part of bringing it out into the open was due to them being left with little other options, they had tried getting him to rehab... Multiple times, and it was just not working. so a different, (as nash said.. "Tough Love") approach was tried, an attempt to really get through to Hall, that he needed to change his life.
Yes but they also made money off it but then again one of the road warriors fell off the titantron
I remember turning off the tv in disgust a couple of times when Scott was pretending to be wasted and he was getting picked on,. They ought to be ashamed of the way they treated him.
It was something Eric Bischoff said years later he regretted ever giving the green light to doing at Creative's suggestion to make Scott's real life issue with booze a storyline for WCW
He said it was a personal / professional low for himself as a boss and as a man
@@michaelvaughn8864 Yeah, you know what they say about hindsight. I hope it doesn't keep Scott up at night anymore, he's one of my favorites and he was doing well the last I heard.
@@0therun1t21 I heard the same thing lastly about Scott Hall, too. I understand he's holding up well, sir.👍 It's good to hear that. Props to DDP for what he's doing with him and Jake 'The Snake' Roberts with his positivity
@@0therun1t21 Other former and retired wrestlers, also.
Also: not only was it horrible taste, to say the least, to turn Hall's problems into a storyline - it also flies in the face of people like Eric saying since that they had Hall's best interests at heart when sending him to rehab.
Thanks for this. I'm sure it was a difficult episode to put together, while trying to be respectful to all concerned. That's why I watch this channel.
Bios I’ve been begging for a 2 cold scorpio video. He’s one of the most underrated talents never talked about
Agreed
@8:32 "I'm not going to bang on about what's morally right & what isn't. You guys don't come here to listen to that stuff." Unwise habit to be including subjective opinions about what's morally right & what isn't. Nobody clicks on videos to hear that. Again, Thank You!
I love this nWo Theme Version...please make a Playlist with your Theme Versions
I second this.....some of your themes are WAY better than the originals......and to top the original NWO theme is something else, well done.
Still waiting on the playlist
As tasteless as this angle was, Hall doing the abdominal stretch and reaching for a drink instead of leveraging the ropes was way too funny.
The most WCW thing ever to have Nash and Hall on the mid card instead of the main event and once again no clear cut winner. WCW would do that so often with interference you never had any clean wins. It is no wonder WWF won the war. Nash vs Hall could have been an excellent main eventer but nope.
Remember when the outsiders would wrestle job guys before the show and video it. Lol saying they already had a match tonight 😂
We’re they like black and white films?

@@Seraph89_ yeah bro they brutalized those guys lol in front of an empty crowd.
I’m not gonna get on my soapbox but it is genuinely scummy that his personal issues were exploited like this. Scott deserved better
He deserved to win a world title in his wwf or wcw run . He had the charisma and personality to have mainevent spot
He had the machismo!
I think his demons were his biggest thing against him and kept him away.
@Wales Eakes had a better work ethic than many....including Hogan and Nash.
Hell the famous Austin 3:16 promo makes reference to Jakes drink problem
"All he's gotta do is go buy him a cheap bottle of Thunderbird and try to get back some of that courage he had in his prime"
Bro you kill these documentaries give this man a job
The sad part about the Scott Hall's addiction storyline was replicated by Vince Russo (of course) in the WWF with Road Warrior Hawk
WWF did it with Jake Roberts first..
A true legend. Scott is truly missed
That entrance theme will never get old or tired of hearing it.
4 Life!
"It all got a little messy".. That's a bit of an understatement.
As great as the 90's were for wrestling was, there were some horrendous storytelling and this is right up there
To air one's demons to grab ratings is extremely low and a definite turn off but we live in an era of talk show trashing the most vulnerable so...
Great talent that deserved at least one title reign
👍👍
Yeh but wrestling was very watchable then compared to today
Just like how WWE used Hawk's drinking problem as a story line. It was in poor taste.
I was only an idiot teenager when this happened and Scott Hall was one of my favorites. I really thought this angle sucked even back then.
I personally thought the Outsiders splitting up and Scott Halls Drunk gimmick was some of Kevin Nash’s best character work
"character work" barrrrrf. No one watches wrestling for "character work", dork.

Ay yo. I just wanna say, gracias for a Sunday vid chico.
Sting never should've joined the NWO. He and Ric Flair were the TRUE WCW ICONS.
ITS STILLL REAL TO ME DAMNIT REEEEEEEEE
Sting joined the face faction of the NWO that was not at war with WCW.
Thanks for the vid. You brought me back to my childhood days watching WWF then transitioning to WCW because of Hall and Nash. What an amazing time for wrestling fans. 🙏🏽🔥
I have nothing but sympathy for Scott Hall, I can't imagine what it must be like being forced to shoot another person who was threatening to take his life away. No wonder he turned to drink.
true story.
dude his drinking was on him it's his own fault !
@@robertmorrell6548 you do realize things led him to that right? Like having to murder someone in self defense.
@@codymcguire189 I’ve never heard of this story. What happened ?
He may never have been a role model, but Scott was always one of my hero's!
Shame how they treated Hall the way they did, and WWE was no better, either.
"Everything about the angle felt like a waste of time". WCW in a nutshell.
Scott Hall didn’t need the world title . The world title needed him .
Could have and should have. Would have been a great heel world champion
AND NEVER THE TWAIN SHALL MEET! HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!
He’s didn’t need the world title. He put asses in seats anyway

Thanks for the memories, Razor.
"...and then, after Scott Hall got kicked out of the nWo..."
You know the angle has completely jumped the shark when these words are spoken 🤦♂️
And then he and Nash would later rejoin the NWO anyway. WCW was so stupid in storytelling. PLAN AHEAD! Don’t make it up as you go along!
Because WWE never did anything like this. Wait, they did literally this exact same thing multiple times. Jake the Snake, Hawk....
Hall has always been one of my favorites, was really glad to see him recover with DDP
Scott Hall was my favorite, the Razors Edge was the best finisher in my book

Wolf pack for life 👌🏼
Scott Hall lived a street over from me in Georgia.
Scott Hall is a legend. But Kevin n Hulk kept everyone down because of fear of giving anyone else a shot an i feel that's what killed the WCW
Rest In Peace, legend. One of the very best ever.
Scott Hall definition should have join the Wolfpack definitely wad created by Scott Hall Kevin Nash and Syxx the original Wolfpack

WWF did similar things with the angle with Road Warrior Hawk.
and it was way way worse
I wasn't thinking about it in these terms at all, since I didn't follow the Dirt Sheets or whatever I had no idea this was tied to a real dinking problem. I just saw it as a storyline about a character with drinking problem.
