Thanks for the video. Made me feel comfortable doing the repair myself. One note is that I used a Washer Spring Expansion Removal tool rather than a flat head screwdriver and it was very easy.
Hi, thank you for your comment...great to hear that our video gave you the confidence to complete the repair yourself! Thanks for your tip about the expansion removal tool, as other people could find that useful too.
Thanks so much - your video made me feel confident I could do this (middle aged woman). Getting the spring back on at the end was the hardest part, but still completed this repair in about 15-20 minutes! Thanks again!
Hi Dawn, this is really so good to hear! Thanks for letting us know that our video has helped you to fix your dE error code, and well done for completing the repair yourself to keep your washing machine going!
So i just replaced the door lock(woth a new lock) it worked for a cycle then displayed the DE2 error again is there any other reason this would happen i seen somewhere they said it could be the computer unit? Any help would be appreciated
I can’t get the door seal spring thing back on. I’ve tried for hours. Am i missing something? You make it look so insanely easy. It won’t stretch for me. I try to force it to stretch more and then the whole thing becomes undone. Can i use the washer without? It looked like it would but idk if i do that if water will leak in the washer or floor or something?
H Emma, you are correct by saying that if you use your washing machine without the door seal clamp spring, it will cause water leaks because the seal won't be fixed correctly. It can be tight to fit, but it will fit on. The best way is to place the clamp around the seal at one side...perhaps the lower-left section, and gradually work it around...as you get nearer the end, this is where you can use a screwdriver to help fit (careful not to damage the seal)...there should be more space near the spring on the clamp where the screwdriver can be placed to help work the last bit of the clamp in place where the spring is.
We had the door lock replaced and the error is still happening. The repairman said it might actually be the spring but he can’t find a new one through his suppliers. I’m wondering now if we just have to buy a new washing machine 😢
Hi, thanks for your comment. Hopefully our video has helped you to fix the dE error code on your washing machine, and it is back up and running brilliantly again for you!
I know you're supposed to be able to pull the plug out by pressing the little tab and pulling, but I can't get mine to budge. it's like it's glued in there. Is there any way to loosen it without breaking it?
Yes, a friend did it. As I remember, the problem was that the instructions weren't clear, and you had to do more than just press the tab - you had to press both sides. Very easy once you know how. @@Black_woman_is_god
I changed that part and it worked for a week and now it doesn't work again. UPDATE: it was just the stupid connection. The vibration of the machine shook the connection to the lock mechanism loose
Way more helpful than any of the official LG resources I found. Thank you.

For my LG Model Number WM3470HVA your site, eSpares, does not carry the door lock. Is there somewhere else I can purchase? Ideally in the US.
I just wired my switch out for now. It’s the red and black wires you need to short out but make sure your door is locked closed!!
What exactly do you mean with "short out"?
@@michaelhornung746 Short means to touch the 2 wires together.
Good day bro, is it still working for you cos my own too just developed the same fault
What do you mean when powering back on make sure the door is closed ?
Thank you so much, for this video, problem solved 100%

I did use the washer without the spring and didn’t experience leaks but the dE code returned and eff that spring for real
Thank you.. sorted in seconds 🙏🔱🕉️

Hi, hopefully this video has helped you to solve the dE error code on your LG washing machine. Hope all is working great now.
I can’t open the door, not even when the machine is off. It is basically stuck ☹️
Hi, we have a video all about opening a stuck washing machine door that you can check out here!

How you do that with the door locked ????
I had the same problem so I pushed the door even more into the lock with a smack. Fixed it for now but it is temporary
My washing machine works then after a few minutes the door lock error code shows up
