Big Eddie was an amazing Platoon Sergeant. He really valued our mission and constantly rewarded us for our accomplishments. Mortar privates who had been awarded the EIB were give ops-cores prior to line companies receiving them. Got us manifested to go up to Alaska for Northern Warfare training, and ensured that we were on the chalk to receive British Jump wings. MSGT Edwards even sent me to Air Assault as a consolation after my school slot was pulled away for an officer. Edwards is truly a legend among men - we worked hard and played hard. Pretty sure we shot more rounds as a platoon in one range day then some Big Army Divisions get in a year. Everything from unknown distant ruck marches to cross training made us marketable and tough - it gave us opportunities with the line teams we supported when 60mm were not needed.

Team House has inspired me to join the U.S. military. I plan on enlisting (hopefully to join the Rangers) after I complete my undergrad degree in the spring. Thank you Jack, Dave, and all of your guests. You all exemplify what young American men should strive to be. Thank you for your service and for being a guiding beacon for many young American men without one.

      Hey man,
Make sure you really look into your options with respect to joining up.
      Enlisted versus officer; and
      Active duty versus national guard.
Also, look into what everyone is doing. I am sure that like the 1980’s there are “things” going on worldwide. You just need to figure out in general what’s going on and who’s doing it.

Dude… 5 years ago I probably would have 100% agreed, given you some advice, and wished you luck. The army these guys are talking about is gone, those days are gone, it is NOT what it once was. On top of that I’m sure you’re at least seeing a little of what’s going on out there right now, things are BAD. We’re likely to be fighting near-peer adversaries in the next few years, you won’t be fighting the way you hear about in these interviews, you’ll be on the ground, hiding anywhere you can from the FPV drones with HE warheads, or from the drones that drop grenades on you and your buddies from hundreds of feet up, or you’ll be spending weeks underground and in the trenches cowering under artillery barrage after artillery barrage. It isn’t the “cool” stuff that we used to do back in the day, ask some other guys who fought in GWOT then gone over to fight in Ukraine… it’s horrific.
I’m not necessarily trying to talk you out of it, I’m just an old GWOT vet on the internet, but PLEASE think long and hard about what I’m saying. If things go the way they look like they might, we’re going to need guys like you here in the US instead of you being churned into the earth in some garbage strewn woodline in Zveztysvestochkya

Listen to everyone but don’t let anyone stop you from doing what you want. Everyone told me not to go into law enforcement, that it’s a terrible time for that, but I’m here now and I’m loving the job. I can’t speak for military but you’ve gotta do what you want.

    • @bryanknight1056

Commission or go warrant, don't enlist with a degree unless you're a complete savage with pt and want to do the job more than you've wanted anything else in life. This isn't 2007 peak GWOT and if you don't make it, find soldiering isn't for you or get rfs'd a few months later(which is pretty common) you will hate life in the conventional Army. There's cool guy opportunities on the officer side if you do love soldiering and are good at it. Good luck!

Great interview building upon the previous interviews with Mike Edwards. It was great to hear about his post service work and his insights and observations of the illegal immigration and trafficking activity that the border. His comments about the Afghan RRC equiv not being allowed entry into the US and the fact that the State Department flew out Taliban during the evacuation of Bagram and Kabul airports is blood boiling. I am surprised that he was not more angry and critical of the current regime in DC. Until more veterans call out these crimes and failed policies putting America at risk the public will not wake up. The HAMAS and Hezbollah terrorist cell risk is real here in the US and has been building for the last decade.

C'mon guys, i know you're better than this. i learned of that magical elixir on a summer trip to Pensacola in '94 (at an admittedly too young an age)... Miles Garandthumb... pretty sure he wouldn't wake up for his 20 minute night watch shift in our patrol base in Ranger School. He was hard as F to wake up and get to stay awake for his shift. Didn't he wear those Ranger goggles as well ? Always tried to be a comedian from what i remember.
Also, the dude you accidentally shot got treated in the little Ranger clinic at Benning by the Regimental Surgeon there... That would have been 2004. i was a medic at the clinic there at the time in the famous "Medic Hold" waiting for a SOCM class. I remember the flesh over his shoulder blade was just nasty looking ... just splayed open. That dude was inches away from death. Maybe even just one inch. Would have likely taken out both lungs and maybe even his heart.
Went to Ranger School while waiting for a slot at the SOCM course because i had the highest PT score out of the 40-50 some Ranger Medics waiting to go to that school. (My mom died of a sudden heart attack after i had just really started the Florida phase. Got pulled aside for a "Red Cross Message" as i ran to the plane to jump into the field problem there). When i got back, 3 of us who graduated Ranger School even helped teach a class of then RRD guys who were going to a CIA/FBI medic class. The 3 of us who got tabbed helped run the RRD guys through about a week prep course. Can't remember the name of the course but even if i could i wouldn't put it in here because it was very "controversial". There was already one "Conklin" ? in RRD and another one had just passed the try out. He was a medic as well and helped with the class too i believe. There was a third "little Conklin brother" too as i remember that was in Regiment. Pretty sure the oldest brother got injured on the initial jump into Enduring F. and because of that, his father was inspired to start "Sentinels of Freedom". I literally drove from Savannah to Benning to meet with that guy at Regimental HQ just after i was medically retired due to getting shot a couple times on Christmas day, 2005. He had a couple officers present while he gave his "shpill" about Sentinels. He was more or less talking to them about his program and at the conclusion, he shook my hand, gave me a coin that said, "Never Forsaken" and then, a few weeks later, he called me and said they couldn't help me because i wanted to get a masters degree and become a PA and not just get a bachelors degree. lol At the time i was pretty disappointed and a little pissed that i even drove down there.
At any rate, i listened to one of the other Edwards interviews you guys did and it was really good. Pretty sure his wife made an appearance on that one too near the end. Good shit. RLTW.

Just to add to Mike’s take on helping out the guys in the mortar sections and sending them to the SF Sniper Course - these guys, ultimately, wanna be pulling triggers - that’s every infantryman’s wet dream. The grunts don’t *always* need mortars to be lobbing sh*t down range. How perfect is it, during those in between moments, to have mortar sections that can double as DM’s when indirect fire’s been called off - even if just at a more basic level, with one 5.56 (or maybe even now 6.5) DMR/SPR per mortar team? 18-20 year olds are loaded with testosterone and a drive to be useful - give ‘em something to do during the in betweens! I’m sure the guys closing in to destroy wouldn’t mind the extra lead!

Hey guys I have been listening on Spotify for a while now but have noticed that almost all of your episodes have a really low volume capability. I have it cranked up in the car or in headphones and it is still really low. I've had to stop listening while driving at work and that's not cool. Any thoughts why it's such an issue for me??

@@dave_parkeJust need to have your audio guy bounce the final stereo track at an increased volume on the master fader. Maybe even strap a limiter over the master buss. I don't know if the algorithms on each different platform mess with the volume based on their specs, but that might make it more of a PITA to keep it uniform across platforms.

Remind me why we were in Iraq? Why Tom Green’s request to kill UBL was turned down twice in early 2000s? Why were we there 20 years with millions of deaths? Why 15 hijackers were Saudis and we didn’t attack Saudi Arabia?
Thank you to the young men who served without any critical thinking and went into danger, not for America and the constitution, but for the politicians and the government.

Jack, thank you for speaking on that blunder by the White House posting pics of our special operators in Israel to Instagram. Reminds me of when you know who outed Devgru after Neptune Spear. Why can’t this administration understand opsec? Very frustrating and quite maddening, like our boys aren’t in enough danger as it is, the WH doesn’t have to add to it! Ugh

We have not fought a true army since WW2. Russia, China has trained operators that understand things like points of transition, 50% security. Have all the support the we have like planes, boats and medevacs. They train like beast and only with live ammo. All these tribal Afghans we fought were just numbers with no support. We are not that thought. We are going to have to fight real killers in the future.

You were trained to be the best at putting force on force and come out the winner, then you're thrown into a country that is saturated with evil , after a while that evil spirit gets into you and when you come back home to a nonviolent atmosphere, you haven't been trained to deal with it.

It takes about 2-3 weeks to adapt to it but I have seen fat as-f people get to those distances in the first 200 miles.

Ayahuasca is a South American psychoactive brew, traditionally used by Indigenous cultures and folk healers in the Amazon and Orinoco basins for spiritual ceremonies, divination, and healing a variety of psychosomatic complaints. Originally restricted to areas of Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador, in the middle of the 20th century it became widespread in Brazil in the context of the appearance of syncretic religions that use ayahuasca as a sacrament, like Santo Daime, União do Vegetal and Barquinha, which blend elements of Amazonian Shamanism, Christianity, Kardecist Spiritism, and African-Brazilian religions.
