- Hello and Welcome to B&LE 902! In this video, we head to the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad as we watch one of the first trains to use the loop track in Conneaut, Ohio. The loop track was recently re-constructed to help with the efficiency of ore loading in P&C Docks. Officially opened over the radio minutes before the train began loading up, this was likely one of the first movements over the newly laid track. We hope you enjoy this video and be sure to like, comment, share, and subscribe for more railroad-related content such as this. Happy Railfanning and Train Chasing!
It's funny how class 2 railroads are the ones expanding yards and adding back double track and stuff rather than the big class 1's.
It’s definitely interesting to see the difference.
Is the ore loader you mention that 868 is using that tall red tower in the back? If so, what is that tower referred to as?
Yes, that’s the ore loader. There is no yard tower, but rather a yard office at the top of the hill where this video was shot from.
@@BessemerLakeErie902 a tipple is another name for it I assume (tall maroon tower)
With the loop test a success have they switched over to loading with road power yet?
This was the reason they rehabbed the loop.
Yes, they began doing that a few days after this was recorded. They were training a road crew on the loading ops in this video.

That is a shame. The plan after that was to eliminate a few dock jobs and to send two more older units off the property.
@@towny72 The daily yard job and R/C job have since been halted and those crews transferred to the extra board. The dock units are still in place but are only used on an as needed basis with extra board crews.
Bessemer I’m still waiting for you to come to Western New York for the combination video. Feel free to join my discord server if that’s the way you wish to communicate. Keep up the content, fellow railfan.
I’ll get up there this winter probably. I look forward to it.

@@BessemerLakeErie902 thank you
Sounds like ice hitting something?
That was raindrops hitting the microphone on the camera.
So was this done for them to load trains quicker.
I believe so. They received a big grant to expand Conneaut and I believe this is the first phase of that.
What do you mean by first phase? Theirs more??!
What type of scanner do u have for this line
