- Wherein I test out the on and off road performance of the Shinko 244 dual sport tires on my Honda Trail 125.
For the most comprehensive information on what tires you should use on your Honda Trail 125, checkout the Honda Trail Tires Megathread: hondatrail125....
I switched to the original Golden Boys Shinko 241's in 2.75-17 and left everything the same. The original chain stretched so bad I changed it out in less than a year to an x ring. Other than that, I just ride the heck out of it. Trials tires look cool too.
What size and brand o ring chains
In Australia CT Honda’s (inc ex-postal service bikes) run off road everywhere on stock road tyres.
i suspect Australia's stock "road" (warrior) tires are not America's stock road tires.
I have the stock tires and I now have over 6k miles on my bike, ready for my third rear tire, but my bike goes EVERYWHERE.... with a little momentum. Deep mud is the only issue.
I have not seen these in California I had one when I was a kid, so you need to order the Honda trail. GOD-BLESS.
I have the same rubber on mine. They are fantastic off-road, but they have the typical knobbie drawbacks as expected on road, I lost about 5mph top speed as well. I did the poor mans front fender re-drill/lift method and I am pretty happy with that vs. the cheap lift brackets that tend to rub. I love the look of this little scoot but I am not sure I am in love with the bike overall, I just wish that it had more power but that's simply wishing for it to be something that it's not.
probably didn't loose speed speedometer is off due to taller tire try a gps speed on your phone
@@richardmello3119 Oh it’s slower lol, I’ve verified with GPS and another bike alongside
the brackets i'm using don't rub the tire, but they do lift the fender higher than is aesthetically pleasing. i prefer the look of the fender close to the tire.
@@tychomoto the redrill lift method is the answer you seek
@@texlee1640 i wonder if a sprocket change would help have a great day stay safe
Leave the tires in the mid day sun for 2 or 3 hours ,to soften the rubber . the tire is flexible and MUCH easier to fit
the other thing i was doing wrong is not pushing the opposite side into the center dip to make it easier.
I have a 2022 CT, I went through 2 sets of the 241s and I am currently on my 2nd set of the 244s. I got 5000 miles out of the 241s and 10,000 out of the 244s. (I know I'm a little crazy, I have 22,000 miles on it so far) The ride on pavement with the 244s is awful. but I enjoy this bike so much on the trails. I put a 3.00 on the back and a 2.50 on the front. I can't understand why some people need the front tire the same size. I've never owned a bike that wasn't thinner on the front. and No need to move fenders. But to each his own I guess. Thanks for the vid and Happy Trails!!
for me, it was purely for aesthetic reasons that I wanted the same size tire on the front. i feel like it gives the bike a more menacing, off-road look. all of my other bikes are fat tire monsters (even my e-bike), so it's just what I'm used to.
Enjoy your vids , did you put the 3 inch 244 tyres on the back and front wheels , thanks 👍Graham
Maybe consider designing & or sourcing parts for around 8000 watts of power for a front wheel Hub motor & controller theirs several companies that build custom batteries which would fit on the large rear cargo rack a Hybrid Trail 125
How fast are these Hondas?
it really depends on a lot of factors, but on stock tires and a straightaway, i was getting up to 55ish.
@@tychomoto would this be good for a bug out bike?
@@tonyslaughter8954 probably. this dude did the TAT on his: ua-cam.com/video/gUxFPwDWWVA/v-deo.html
hard right now to find ANY tires for this. i was going to wait but when they said back ordered no ETA...
i got mine from revzilla, but if i read your profile picture correctly, that's not an option for you?
@@tychomoto it is and have an account there. But most places (that have anything available) are 3". I was wanting 2.75x17 I tried getting the vee rubbers but both places I tried backordered. I normally like shinkos but I really don't like the 241s that much and the 244s (which I have on my e-bike) are only 3". (Wasnt really wanting to do the fender lift) I mostly ride on the street so I'm happy with the stock tires but it would be nice to have some control on the beach and be able to off-road a little bit if I wanted to as well... (In FL) heh that's not French flag... It's red white and blue baby ! :)
@@KtotheL actually i thought it was the netherlands flag. i like the 3" tires on mine, but i can understand not wanting to lift the fender.
@@tychomoto yes but also top end. ( From my understanding it would be as much as -5 mph ) I might have no choice... I could literally take them off the ebike if I wanted but then I'd never want to ride it again. It was night/day when I put them on it.
@@KtotheL ah yes, i can confirm it is a 5mph loss of top speed. as i said in the video, the ride is definitely less smooth with the knobbies, but i haven't wanted to go back to the IRCs since changing them.
Those rub on fender right?
not with the fender lifted, no.
