This spring I walked through the Big Reed forest. It's the largest old growth forest on the east coast. Never logged not even once. I found cedars 3 feet wide. The forest had areas of dense fresh growth. Where the mature trees had died. And areas of open woods where the canopy was thick and blocked out the sun. Very cool to see the forest's natural life cycle. Give Baxter 100 more years and it will start to open up. I've read that it takes roughly 150 years for a forest to reach "old growth"

Love your channel! Can you guys do a vid or podcast on typical shot distances in Maine and New England for deer and moose? I think I heard Hal say he's never gone over 80 some odd paces for deer. I think some guys in his hunting group use scopes though. It would just be interesting to hear different perspectives and what percentage of deer and moose guys have harvested under 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards in Maine. Great content guys!
