Dudek Universal 1.1 First Flight And Review

- After a long 3 month flying break for the cold weather months, I'm back for the first flight of 2023 and the first launch and flight of the Dudek Universal 1.1 paramotor wing. Please join me as I put this wing through its paces for ease of launch, maneuverability, sink and climb rate, and more. It always is a good time getting back in the air after hibernation, especially on a new wing ;)
I’ve been flying uni’s for several years. Love em. I also have a Solo. Little spicer love Dudek.
Loved the video man!!! Nice new wing! I hear nothing but good things about the universal!
Thank you Kyle, im happy to add it to my line up... its gonna do great for what I want it to do ;)
The manual for my 2021 Universal 1.1 recommends the trimmers be set at 6 maximum, without tip steering. I have heeded this and will gladly go beyond 6 if I ever add tip steering. The Universal is a classic wing for good reasons!
Thank you Jeff, I was pushing it a bit there for sure, thank you for the heads up ;)
Glad to have you back. Missed the scary videos!
Thanks Mike... its good to be back ;)
Love your enthusiasm, watched your video on the review of the Roadster 3, now this, seemed like you really enjoyed flying this wing. You have great wide open spaces out there in the USA (im in the crammed, crappy weather (alot of the time UK). great review. Many thanks
Lol yes I do have plenty of room out here for sure... but to be honest your tight spaces probably make you a better pilot with not having so many safe outs ;) thanks for watching and I appreciate the kind words... fly safe my friend.
I was visiting a friend who let me fly a Uni 1.1.
I loved it so much I bought it.
My previous wing is an Ozone Roadster 3. I noticed a big difference even though they are in very similar classes.
Both were 28's
I always launch everything with trimmers all the way in. I can't run that fast :-).
i have flown the roadster 3 as well but this one won me over between the two... happy flights my friend ;)
Love the video ! This is the wing i will be learning on .
Thank you and I think its going to be a great first wing for you. It's a very stable and safe wing... good luck with your training and hope to see ya in the skies soon ;)
@@BartBerry thank you!
Glad to see you out flying and having a great time! 😁👍
Thank you, more to come I hope.... springs a comin.. ;)
@@BartBerry 👍
Enjoyed the video Bart! Lots of good gliders out there, and I can vouch for the U1.1 especially for a beginner on top of an intermediate / experienced pilot that wants ultimate safety*, who doesn't need to pull G's at the flick of a wrist. I had no problems training and learning to fly with it, all the way to having too much fun (but never enough) doing 1.5-2.0 hr XC flights almost weekly in the summer.
*What my understanding is you want to be either trimmed in or trimmed out in wind and turbulence. What I stick to is 0-6 (use brakes or tip steer) or 18-24 (tip steer only). Full reflex mode is supposed to be the most collapse resistant. What I heard was set trims to "all or nothing", in windy or turbulent conditions at least. In nil wind or calm conditions I'd agree you would be safe trimming anywhere given you stick to the TST (tip steer toggles).
Thank you, ya its seems It may not of been a good idea using such heavy brakes with trimmers set to 12 thank you for the heads up and advise ... much appreciated ;)
Fantastic! You're going to enjoy that glide rate 😆
absolutely, it should do well on our next cross country too.... wanna race my friend lol ;)
Now that sounds like fun 😂
The wait is over….. Berry back in the air Finally 🎉🎉
Yee haw... yes sir.. its nice to be back... come on spring time lol ;)
New subscriber for you from Ireland 🍀 🇮🇪 new this year to flying only started in January but getting one of these wings next week upgrade 28🪂 ⛅️
Thank you for the subscription..... and congratulations on almost a year of flying. Your going to enjoy this wing it's very versatile ... safe flying my friend and thank you
You know I like that wing ! Same color!
lol 4 sure shes a fun one my man ;)
Looks familiar don’t it?
@@pittsjohn57 Yes !
Bring on the spring weather.
Amen !!! ;)
That was truly inspiring and I felt the gittiness aswell..meandering wing of wings! Humm 7 months later and what do ya think? Sell her or keeper
Lol ya man alot of fun... so 7 months later it's still the perfect wing for those easy going cruising nights like I wanted it to be... I think if I would change anything... maybe a 28m instead of the 31m but no complaints im happy with it.
Hey Bart, I've never seen or heard you so happy. If I ever get a new wing, it'll probably be a dudek. Who is the distributor in Ohio/Indiana?? Hopefully we can get together this year. I'll have to check the tire pressure on my flypod, and drive over to Indiana
Thank you Richard.. it made me so happy to just be back in the sky, im not sure who the distributor is, I bought mine from a friend. And absolutely get them tires aired up ... its fly time my friend :)
Just found paramotoring and your channel. I am for sure going to get some training and try this out. What paramotor are you strapped into? Great vids, i definitely subbed
Yee haw... welcome... and thanks for watching... hope you get in the sky's soon....today I was flying the air conception tornado under a universal 1.1 ;)
Did you prefer the Uni over the Roadster 3 you tested sometime back?
I did, its seems to be a bit more agile and I really like the bigger trimmer range
Be careful my friend with the brakes and trims out on that uni. It will bit ya. Ask me how I know.
omg yes please do tell.... i dont want to get bit ... any advise would be appreciated my friend
@@BartBerry book says tip steer only after half out on the trims and they mean it. Also the uni is really hard to get out of a spin.
@@pittsjohn57 i guess i was pushing it a bit then i was exactly half out lol :)
Your asking it to fly fast and fighting it with brakes. It's reflex mate.
Just sayin, it must be old stock , it's the old colour.
But having said all that because I care, it's your life go for it
Thank you much appreciated ;)
Grab yourself an Off grid aviation throttle. Thank me later;)
Thank you, I have one on my skymax and absolutely love it
