Have this exact watch. Accuracy is incredible, the most accurate watch I own. Got it on offer in the sales, for the price I paid its a steal for a Cosc certified quartz watch. Build quality is excellent.

Nice looking watch. Reminds me of an Omega Aqua Terra. Nice looking affordable alternative.

Made in the same Swatch Group factories-dials, cases, hands and bracelets are made in the same buildings as Omega , Longines and other Swatch Group brands with the same steel . Movement is Eta Quartz

I have a Certina DS-8 Titanium, fairly similar to this watch with a few differences. Blue face, red tipped second hand, WR is "only" 100M, and lume is very good, including on the markers. Love the light titanium bracelet and everything else about it. Accuracy appears to be spot on after a month--hard to understand why people look down on quartz movements. Automatic movement is less accurate, probably less rugged, more expensive to service. Can't understand paying more for that, although the detailed workmanship is impressive and cool. I do get that.

I've had this watch for a couple months only diff being mine has red accents instead of green, red much better. I think this is a perfect beater/everyday watch. I have researched everything within $1000 of it and I can see no reason to spend more than the $260 it took to get this. I love that it's a quartz chronometer. Mine hasn't gained/lost a second so far. It also looks much better irl: the glints and gleams of light reflecting off the hands and markers bespeak quality and presision. And my second hand does hit on the marks. Just an amazing value

I have this time piece and I love it. I went with the blue dial and I often receive compliments. The Chronometer edition keeps marvelously accurate time and I am seriously considering adding another offering from Certina to my collection.

@The Truth Lets face it, a £500 watch does not even get the accuracy on the second hand pointing to the marks, the quality control just bad, # Swiss made # 🙄 SAD

Great watch definitely has that aqua terra style and with a chronometer movement even if quartz is quite an everyday proposition.

The Precidrive movement is supposed to be accurate to 10 seconds a year. Great value for a High Accuracy Quartz movement.

What amazes me that it’s not more popular. I think it’s time to admit that few people who wear wristwatches care about accuracy, because otherwise there’d be lots and lots of Swatch Group watches with ETA PreciDrive movements - Swatch owns ETA anyway - and there aren’t many.

Certina has bigger indices, six oc date, and more lume real estate than the aqtra. I actually think the dial layout is awesome compared to most others. Very bold, simple and symmetrical. I was loving the aqtra but think this Certina gives me big bang for little bucks. Saving me money. Now if it was 38 with deep lume it would be the hottest watch in this category. Cheers.

With the stelle bezel around the dial the watch probably wears smaller

Thank you for the review Rob. Much appreciated. I do like Certina watches and have had a look at some at a local AD here in the UK. Not really a fan of quartz at all now. If they make this in automatic then it will be on the wish list I think. Thanks again Sir.

I had a Certina a few years back and I sold it. The execution was very, lets say, unrefined. I can see the movement of the seconds hand in this one is all over the place also.

Some U. S. sellers have a few Certina Precidrive watches, probably models no longer being made, probably not under Certina warranty. The cheaper ones are the women’s models.

I bought a DS Action quartz diver for when I want something that looks great but don’t want to chance harming an auto (golf, mtn biking etc). I looked at this watch but the lack of lume killed it, the diver has better lume. The bracelet has a really nice on the fly micro adjust clasp and my only complaint is the skeleton hands. My seconds hand does hit the indices but I hate that it’s a dice roll as to alignment.

I wish Certina would make some 39-40mm watches. Most of their stuff is pretty large, but they do make some pretty pieces - this one included.

If it had better lume I would have taken it off your hands in a heartbeat, but I am a "lume snob " and I am surprised that Certina didn't do better. I have several Certinas and they all have great lume. But it looks like they are using BWG9 and not very thickly applied and that's a bummer.. But great looking watch, for sure.

Classic. Your recent review of a Certina made me have a look at them and i ordered this watch last week. Ordered through same company as you. It arrived today and very pleased with it. I got it in blue dial with red tips. The dial is great and has a great sunburst effect. Really pleased with it. Its my first quartz watch for years and it'll be handy to have something always there with the correct time haha.
Why you flipping it so quickly?

If the lume were better and all the green were red, I would seriously consider this watch. Also, is it me or is the second hand not really hitting the markers very well? Thanks for sharing!

It's common for quartz watches to not have the seconds hand hitting the markers exactly. The only quartz watch I owned where it did hit the markers exactly was the Seiko Tuna SBBN017.

COSC Certs on a quartz watch are a little silly. But hey. This is a lovely looking watch but… the second hand does not hit the batons accurately. How disappointing. It cheapens the whole thing. There is no way a grand Seiko quartz would leave the factory with this kind of sloppy inaccuracy. Then again GS quarts are five times the price. That said, Certina really should have better QC on this watch.

Nice review. This particular Certina looks to be a good choice for a grab-n-go weekend watch and not be worried if it's wound up or not.
What type of camera and brand is the one you're using for this review? When you went in for a close-up of the watch the image is nice and crisp. I like it.

When the seconds hand doesn't hit the markers, the watch is not worth owning if it were free! The awful lume doesn't help either. I personally don't like that green either. It would look better if it were red, but that doesn't really matter when the seconds hand is off!

Perfect second hand alignment in a quartz watch is actually an indicator of mass-produced machine assembly. Even far more expensive Swiss watches can have misaligned seconds. And the main point of this watch is that it is 1. it is beautiful and looks much more expensive and 2. it is COSC certified meaning accuracy to within 10 seconds a year.

But in all fairness, he did not even charge it with a propper light source, just out the normal lights in the room of. When I come from a sunny day outside or charge it fast with a propper light, then you have alot better lume then pictured in this Video. And on a sidenote, its not a Diver, so It dont need to have Seiko Quality lume. But the lume is allt stronger then what comes of in this Video
