I would love to see this mall return to its heyday. It’s such a warm, inviting, and calm place, but almost nobody goes there. It’s almost like a hidden gem.
Even bath and body works is gone. Very nice 70s look to the mall. It's all about aesthetic in this mall. Being kind of close by in illinois, I may need to come check this out.
Agreed with others, that you NEED to visit this mall while you still can! It's a fantastically beautiful mall, that you need to see while it's still possible to do a visit.
Greatest store of all time Carson's closed on April 30, 2018 sad day, before Carson's it was Elder Beerman before that it was Meis before that Robertson's.
I just read that blog article you wrote on Concord now, and it was a great read! Sad it may get demalled soon, a la Pierre Moran and Scottsdale, where this place will no longer be anything special to visit.
I'll be straight up. I don't even pay too much attention to the video itself. I tend to run it in the background for the music. Lovely choices as always. Though when I do pay attention to the mall, I do enjoy what I see.
The mall will lose 3 more tenants in 2020 when their lease is up. It's very sad to see this mall like this. I was there on the grand opening day (9th of August, 1972) with my sister. This mall was a big deal for Elkhart as it was the second enclosed mall opened in less than 2 years. For those wondering, the architecture of the mall is the original from it's inception in 1972. Rumors are from local officials that the mall will more than likely close in 2020 unless a buyer is found for the mall.
Lots of earth tones brick & tile in & out, conversation pits and with tons of can lights in walls, ceilings as well as round air diffusers.70s📺TV movie of the week music is perfect for this🎷🎺 luckily for vintage mall buffs like me that were teenage in 70s a treat to still see.Elkhart with the cyclical RV industry and lots of Amish and Mennonites is likely why hasn't been updated is very recession prone. Thanks for the time warp tour.🐴
Great mall! I can just imagine lots of ppl wearing polyester leisure suits, platform shoes, bell bottoms and afros and pornstaches hanging out here! Great super rare find!
Up here in the north, we thought malls were awesome. Back in the 70's and 80's when winters were brutal we could still shop indoors and stay out of the cold. Now malls are just useless and obscene. Personally I'd like to see the empty ones torn down and returned to green space. But that goes for all retail.
It may have 70’s feel, however it shows well even today. It’s such a shame it’s slowly dying. It looks like the national online stores are staying until their leases come up for renewal. Also Penney’s, given their precarious financial situation likely will bolt. All an all this place has little hope of surviving. Another sad tale.
Raw & Real Retail yes I don’t recall those signs being there when I was a kid in the 70s 80s. I still see kids climb on them today... when security isn’t looking 😏😂

I was just there today. I love how it looks. I wish someone could buy it and really push the vintage feel in a marketable way somehow.
mdDctr I agree.
I worked there in my teen years and late 20's
It was new management in 90's took it all!
Soooo sad. Bad management drove us down. Huge good years
THE place to go in the 70s, spent a LOT of time there, hanging out, shopping and playing pinball.
So sad concord mall !

You owe it to your channel name to come to this mall. Do it soon, it doesn't look like there is much time left.

Give it another chance. I would open a store.
Good news... the mall has new owners😀. Let’s cross our fingers

That is truly a gorgeous and beautiful mall! The only thing that came close to this in Winnipeg is Garden City Mall
No that mall is too modern sorry but your probably stuck in the 70s
Would like to see some old pics or video of when it was thriving
Thanks to the link back to my article, and what a great video. I left the area long ago and really do miss this place.

I would love to see pictures if you have any.
Personally I do not believe this will ever be a mall again. It will probably eventually be torn down unfortunately.
Sadly, you're probably right.

Out of all the malls that still has their original 70s design, this one has to be the best.
It did get left in the 70s but I like it too.

Looks like more than half the shops are empty?
It's really taken a nose dive in the last year.
I think now only 4 shops are left but I could be wrong
Very 1970s earth tones. What ugly tiles everywhere! Those pyramidal planters are awful!
Mr. Butch uhhh no they’re amazing and a super important piece of mall history and aesthetic
...And I climbed those as a kid in the late 1970's with my brother.. don't u talk bad about my mall planters man. lol
Heeey...!! I used to climb on those when I was little
Maybe that's why they have those red signs telling people no climbing all over them 😂
