Can’t wait to go to this race next year. I’ve been in love with Le Mans my entire life it is just one of those races that gives you shivers. Can’t imagine what it’s like to win it
I forgot when the Corvette team switched from Goodyear to Michelin cause when the factory Corvette program was started in 1999, they ran on Goodyear so probably the switch was made around 2004 or 2005 to stay competitive with the other factory GT teams which included the Oreca Chrysler/Dodge Vipers and the Aston Martins
Those GT1 Corvettes and Vipers (or GTS as they were called) were AWESOME race cars... Justin Bell raced the Oreca Vipers in 1998 and 1999 and won the class - he's the son of Derek Bell who won Le Mans overall 4 or 5 times I believe... But anyway Justin said the Vipers went well over 200 mph on the mulsanne straight and hit 190+ on all 5 long straights!! He said they had around 650hp if not more - and not much downforce so not much drag... And they absolutely hauled ass in a straight line! Just like a good ol' American car with a big ass engine up front should!!! European and especially British people make fun of us Americans for having cars that only go fast in a straight line... Well we were just practicing for Le Mans, OK? It worked! GT 40's won overall 4x Vipers won their class like 3 times (maybe more?) Corvettes have won their class like 10 out of the past 20 years... New Ford GT's won their class in 2016.... Pretty sure a Saleen won its class once also - I know they at least got a podium finish. I think Panoz also got a podium finish in GT2 class... And ALL of them used a big ass American V8! Except for the viper of course with the even more ridiculous 8 liter V10 (488 cubic inch I believe?) Go fast. Brake late. Get around the corner however you gotta get around it. Mash the throttle & pass everyone. Repeat. Win!
Yes there were - Jim Downing invented and used it in the IMSA GTP class in the 80s.... Just wasn't mandatory for Le Mans in 2005 I guess. Le Mans is organized by the ACO which is kind of like the SCCA or IMSA in America - just MUCH more powerful because they write the rules for Le Mans, which happens to be the biggest race of the year. The FIA also contribute and help wrote the rules - but they're both French and have different rules. They still do have different rules unfortunately - that's why the American Le Mans series was awesome... The audi factory team raced in the ALMS series from 2000-2008 I think. So the same cars that raced here at road America raced at Le Mans!
Look at the Corvette passing a prototype car on the mulsanne straight!! It had to be going over 190 and probably closer to 200 mph to pass the P2 car like that - those P2 cars had a top speed around 180-190mph depending on the engine (always faster with the Judd V10's of course 👍) so that Corvette was GETTIN IT!
Trust me, owning footage doesn't stop Duke Video taking shit down. They claim to own the footage from French TV, if not the commentary. Doesn't stop 'em though.
It sucks because Gran Turismo 4 was originally released months before this LeMans race. Because if it did released after LM05 the Audi r8 and the pescarloro 2005 version would have been featured. appeared in the game
@@AngelecciYT You're obviously way too young lmao But seriously, although the PS2 could in fact connect online, it definitely was not a standard yet, and pretty much only used for net play. Transferring updates was just pretty much impossible. Also take into consideration that internet speeds were way slower in general, let alone the ones connecting on a gaming console.
There's a special place in heaven for the people who designed the Judd V10

I believe a racing driver once described his driving technique as " floor it and steer like crazy". Seems to work for the Corvettes. 😊
Pescarolos should’ve won 😂
Those glorious pescarolos!
molto belli i filmati anche quelli più vecchi, però manca il 24 ore del 2012 grazie!!!
16:06 Were there no HANS devices back in 05?
nop
not mandatory through all formula series at the time.

@@Boy10Dio mandatory was for IndyCar and Champ Car in that time

I miss open top le mans cars. Wish they'd get put into GT7
l5 quelli o belli i filmati, anche più vecchi
Did they have the 2005 Ford GT?
Nope
In 2009
yhey should do it the other way once in a while
I am surprised (or rather, stunned is more like it) that those basturds normal people call D**e Marketing hasn't blocked this video yet
Because the coverage comes from SPEED now Fox Sports not Duke Video. This coverage isn't theirs. Only the review DVD coverage is.

@Bru Rred it has always been like that. Even in the 50s if you didn't have the money to buy a porsche or a ferrari you just stayed at home.

funny that you say that, because GT7 got revealed, and it has GT4's main menu
