The trails I hiked are not heavily used and I spent days alone. I also met many really good people, including a couple from Germany. Anyway, good luck to you and I hope you find happiness.

7:15 Ouch, I quit after one week and felt like quite a loser. I made the really common mistake of overdoing it, my knees are still giving me trouble a year later. I hated that I had to quit, and I hated even more that I was happy to go home. I blame my little old dog for that eagerness to get back home. The way I thought about it was, I'm missing 6+ months of her few remaining years being in pain, drenched and crying on a mountain (my knees were in so much pain the day before I left omg). I didn't see as now being worth it. I hope to one day try again. Thanks for the video Dixie!

Re: Your intro. Bill Bryson is from Iowa. He backpacked Europe with, surprisingly, Katz. He met his future wife in England and stayed there and married her. Four kids later he moved his family back to the US (Hanover, NH) and decided to hike the AT (he is a writer and writes hilarious stories about his past experiences). The only reason that he hiked with Katz a second time was that he couldn't find anyone else willing to hike with him. The movie does not follow the true story. The book is better (IMO than the movie for many reasons). In (2003 according to Wikipedia) he moved back to England. Bryson Is one of my favorite writers (I read A Walk in the Woods when it first came out 1998. It was a "featured" book in a book store recommended by an employee and I like to read travel books mostly). Bryson drew my attention to the AT (I've known about it since the 1980's and camped in Baxter all during the 90's and later years). But, what really got my attention to it was thru hikers, like you, who thru hiked it and made UA-cam videos. For anyone that likes to read and enjoys travel books I highly recommend any of his books. The one about Australia is extremely funny.
Sunny Gram Agree. I also enjoyed Lost Continent, but at times he seemed a bit too critical of America and Americans. I have a few expatriate friends and this seems to be a quality many of them develop.
I love bill Bryson books you should definitely read it. Have you watched the climb ... That's an amazing french film watch with English subtitles makes me cry every time and it's amazing !
I found him via “Notes from a small island”. He described arriving in the UK in Dover in 1973 and being bemused by a ‘counter pane’ in a British guest house. I went to boarding school in Dover in 1973 and I completely agreed with his description of the place… :)
In February, I drove my mom fro Oregon to Sonora Mexico, and we listened to audiobook of A Walk in the Woods. Bryson reads, it was excellent! Years ago, I listened to his book about Australia, also well worth it.
I love your commentaries on these movies! I wasn’t crazy about this movie, per se, but you made it fun 😊 you inspire me! I’ve never done a thru hike, and the AT is my dream. I probably will never get to do it, because of health issues, but enjoy living vicariously through folks like you.
@@melissaverdoni845 I mean most people should have been hearing about wuhan virus by February so it shouldn't have been a total surprise. The country shutting down along with the AT would have been a whollop though.
In my experience thru hiking in 2020 it was much more of a slow build up than a single shock. Cell service wasn't super rare so it wasn't very hard to stay moderately informed. Actually kinda hard not to.
Agree, a review would be great. I watched The Way after walking the French Way of the Camino de Santiago and it was interesting, even a little nostalgic, to see places that I recognised from my walk. It was also interesting to compare what I experienced both mentally and physically with what was depicted in the film.
I loved watching this movie. I’ve read the book before and am reading it aloud to my kids now, but only recently got around to watching the film. I was like you, “oh Shenandoah!” And “look at the white stripes!”. This film made me long to be back on the trail!
Love this, Dixie.🥰. And Thank you for stepping in at the beginning about the age thing. 😤. It’s like that t-shirt I’ve seen advertised: “Your first mistake was thinking I’m just an old lady.” 😂.
I am a new subscriber, as I checked out one of your videos, which was recommended to me, where you reviewed the movie, "Wild," and gave feedback about thru-hiking the PCT. Wild's story affected me, because I've been struggling with grief over the loss of someone who raised me and had been the only stability I had ever known. I loved her so immensely, and I am 4 years out from her death, and I'm still grieving. I write as a hobby and sometimes for pay, but I can't seem to find the words to right that are cathartic to me. THANK YOU for your comments about age in this video. I am in my late 40s, and I've not done anything about my deep desire to hike the Appalachian Trail. The thing I am quite worried about is wondering what type of danger may be lurking if one has to hitch to a nearby town for supplies or to receive packages. I just could not get into a stranger's vehicle. I bought McDonald's for a group of 4 young men hiking the AT, who had come off the trail in Gatlinburg, TN, where I lived at that point. Anyway, is my worry about danger as a solo female hiker, for the most part, baseless? Lastly, how many venomous snakes did you come across? Thank you for taking the time to inform so honestly and thoroughly. I look forward to watching more of your videos!
Dixie, this was great. Just like the Wild review. Loved them both. I have followed you since the PCT. I think YOU need to invent a new trail. Maybe coast to coast?? Or just do great day hikes or weekend trips. You have the talent and the following.
Nice video. Just a word on quitting. I backpacked a lot in my teens and twenties, then took a 50 year long zero day. Last year my wife (5 years my junior) decided she and I would climb Mt. Whitney in the Sierras. Sure, no problem. We got a one day trail pass, and began at 4 am. 8 hours later I was only at mile 8 of the 11 miles to the summit, and only at 12,500 feet in elevation. I decided that there was no way I could finish the climb, and be in any condition to return back down the trail to the car in the allotted 24 hours. And, even if I could have forced the summit, I firmly believe that I would be in extreme danger of falling off the trail due to exhaustion. I quit. 8 hours later we were back at the car. Next year we are going to try for a 2 or 3 day pass, and climb that damn thing again. Never say never, but one doesn't want to die of "stupid".
My wife doesn't want me to see this movie because she is afraid that I will find a way to do it. These are great! Keep it up. I'm sure that you will educate me on some movies that I have not seen or heard of. Thanks!
Thanks Dixie! I loved the book and the movie. Your charisma just works for your hiking videos and your sitting home keeping us entertained while we're trapped inside videos. You are the face of American hiking- I love what you're doing.
“I have long known that it is part of God's plan for me to spend a little time with each of the most stupid people on earth, and Mary Ellen was proof that even in the Appalachian woods I would not be spared. It became evident that she was a rarity.” ― Bill Bryson, A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail
I am enjoying these SO MUCH! And all your videos, very informative and perfect for this time in my life we’re I’m becoming more active outdoors! Appreciate you girl!!
Im at 3:20 and i absolutley beleive that age is just a number. My grandmother walked the Camino in spain over the age of 80 because she wanted to do it, we were all concerned at the start but nothing would stop her. my whole family is really proud of her for that acheivement and for showing us all that with determination we can do anything. Its part of why she wrote a book: How to be a super ager
I enjoyed the book and the movie, both were very funny. I could really relate to Redford's character when he is climbing out of his tent in one scene, and is having a hard time getting out and standing up. (Dixie did not show it here.) When I was doing the JMT, and a fellow saw me trying to get out of my tent in the morning, he said - oh, you get up like an older person. I said yes, like a cow, back legs first. I have a bad knee, so I cannot kneel or crouch. I was 67 at that time. I would imagine that back in the 1990s, there would have been a lot fewer people on the trail, thus as big of a trembly life style. Thanks for the review. I will go back and watch it again.
I hiked the AT in '96. I started March 18th and it was a very snowy, rainy, cold spring. Almost all hiker wore boots. The most popular pack was the Dana Designs Terraplane (approx 7 pounds), very few people had down sleeping bags, I only met one couple that had trekking poles, and the most popular tent was the sierra designs clip flashlight. Most people wore soccer shorts as they were the only quick drying option. Thermarests had come out and became very popular. Even back then there were approx 2000 people hiking the trail and shelters were full and camping around them was packed as well.
Been watching your videos from the beginning, you definitely have the most interesting, informative, and entertaining videos on hiking the trails than anyone else. Fabulous job Dixie!!! Thank You!!!
Seeing your excitement and your reminisce of all the points shows how much you love the thru hiking....really makes me think how great it would be to say that i finished such a long trip on foot
Hello Dixie, a big thank you Dear. This was a great review. Definitely an A+, two thumbs up. All the best to you Dear as well as your family. Stay safe and healthy. 🤗
Funny, my buddy Hank(2nd Step) is on the AT as I write this. He’s doing the AT differently. He’s started at the middle, hiking south. Then he plans to return to the middle to head north. Anyway, all his videos show leafless trees. He start March.
Thanks for breaking down A Walk in the Woods. It was fun watching you remember places from the movie, and it brought back the memories for me as I watched that crazy young newbie (you) attempt to through-hike the AT. (I stumbled on your channel about a week or so in) I probably would have placed a bet in your friends "when will she quit" pool, but I was cheering you on and hoped you'd make it, which you did. Loved it. Thank you.
I’m not a through hiker, but I’m a really avid hiker of the trails in the SNP more often then not the AT. I’ve always loved the Bryson book but a fact that I find the most amazing and telling about how much the environment has improved since 1996 and today is that Bryson said that for all the miles he was on the trail, he never saw a black bear. That’s crazy to me. I see them probably every 3rd or 4th time I’m out training. Makes me happy to know that wildlife is thriving a bit more. Also, I LOVE the book, but to be honest the movie didn’t quite do it for me. The book is a humorous look at approaching middle age. The movie shifted that to basically being about becoming old. I mean it was a good try and all of those actors are fantastic but even like the soundtrack didn’t capture my feeling from the book.
i had snow on my 2nd night (april 6th). and i saw my first southbounder in blood mountain shelter .it was a guy from israel who hiked in winter.he set a record for most nights in one shelter.(i think about 40 nights in friendship shelter).strange thing. i was with my friend from pennsylvania and he recognized his pack he sold online to him.
Thank you for posting I was considering doing the mountain to the seas trail, since it goes through my home county but many parts don't have camping so I'm going to work on the AT. I would have been messed up without your videos.
I hope to hike the mountains to sea trail next spring. Right now the goal is the mountains part. Then we will see. By the way, I think in the eastern part people often camp behind churches. It would be cool to end at the Outer Banks. I hope you have been able to do whatever you decided. Keep on trucking. NC, rules. Lol.
You mentioned how they rarely stayed in shelters. In the 90s there were much less shelters. When the weather was inclimate in the book they barely had room and sometimes really didn't have room.
I got lost in the forest once. I went on a hike in February along logging road trails. Sunny day. No snow on the ground. 4 miles out it started to snow huge flakes that stuck to the trees...covering the blazes! It was late afternoon...nearly dark. Good thing that I have a good sense of direction! I was able to orient myself back to the logging road.
Love to see your reminissing. 25 yrs later for me love to see your emotion. It never ever leaves you. I REALLY ENJOYED THIS MOVIE! In so many ways it was accurate.
Thanks for taking the time to review the movie in the context of a hiker who has done a thru-hike. For those who have not read the book, Bill Bryson's humor is amazing. The movie misses much of that - most of it, actually.
My pack's got a built-in rain cover and I've never used it. I line the pack *and* double-bag anything mission-critical or water-averse inside that for good measure. Watched the movie and read the book. Enjoyed both, but the movie doesn't come close to doing the book justice. Dixie, your excitement at the scene of other hikers getting ready to go is infectious! Love it. I'm a weekend/short stay camper, personally. Though have often thought about Te Araroa that passes not too far from my house - met a number of Te Araroa hikers at one of the motorcamps in Whanganui a few years ago (up until then, I had no idea we even had Te Araroa trail). I don't use trekking poles _per se_ but I have a long hiking stick/"3rd leg" which is invaluable for bracing myself on steep descents or when fording swift rivers. It's long enough that I can extend my reach to give 3 points of contact under some of the worst conditions.
I know this video is now a year old, but I am just seeing it. To answer your question, the gear depicted in the movie is typical for the backpacking gear from the mid-'90s. I was an avid camper and hiker my whole life and started backpacking in 1993. I managed a store in Washington DC in 1991-1992 that sold outdoor gear and internal frame packs were already more popular than externals, though some people had to be sold on the idea because internals were relatively new and not what most people thought of as backpacks. I was completely sold on the idea of backpacking after reading Colin Fletcher's book The Complete Walker III and have been on dozens of trips since then, although I have never done a through-hike.
That scene of the film when Bryson called friends and called them to a hike ... I had exactly the same! Only I did not find a friend of the alcoholic ... I hiked alone in Alps. How about Amelie rennt? Not so about hiking but nice film!
Fun video Dixie,, I saw this movie when it came out and for entertainment value only.... pretty good........now showing the reference points as you did would probably help a lot of people settle some fears and anxieties.......but I found it a true delight watching your reactions showing memory recall .... when you showed the woman early on trail telling them the what for's and how to's ,,,, maybe then is when you need a weapon......lol.. .....Now I have to find your PCT ,, Wild video reference............. Great job ,, was really fun to watch..........Stay Safe and God Bless.......
4 weeks ago I did 3 days on the AT with one of my best friends from high school. I’m 45 now and those 3 days were priceless. Perfect weather and beautiful days on trail. My wife reacted much the same way when I told her I wanted to go lol. The AT in NJ is beautiful! Going into the woods is exhausting, exhilarating and relaxing all at once. It’s beautiful out there.
I was watching videos about camping and gear stuff and u constantly spoke about ( AT AP ) etc and was amazed people did that , you planted the idea of walking 2k miles
I live in Northwest Georgia. I've been thru those arches behind the visitors center many times and not given it much thought. It dawned on me watching this video that, for some people, it may be a one time thing and holds a special meaning. I'll think about that the next time I'm there. If the good Lord let's me get back there. Each section hike I've done is on my heart. ❤AT.
I love seeing how excited you get when you see the places they are. We won't be able to hike the full AT at one time, but plan on section hiking it, starting with Maine because it's where we live. This was fun to watch!
Nice to get a reaction about the movie from someone who's actually made the hike. Thank you! Having read the book long before they made it into a movie I really didn't expect it to live up to Bill's account of his adventure. Might give it a try knowing someone with experience didn't find it too ridiculous.
Whenever I watch videos that talk about overpacking for the trail, it reminds me of this book. In the book, Katz actually tosses most of his stuff, including a good amount of his food, on the first climb up the mountain at the beginning of the trail. He winds up with some ridiculous foods left like candy bars, cookies and condiments. (I don't really recall as it has been a long time since I read the book.) He's left with a hodgepodge of equipment that Bryson has to help supplement his equipment and food. Also, they don't walk much of the trail together, Bryson walks ahead and Katz lags behind, eventually catching up to him at the camping areas.
In 99 I started at Damascus and hiked to Adkins. I remember at one of the outfitters (MRO?) the salesman remembered Bryson coming through the salesman was not a fan. Felt Bryson was very condescending toward the locals. For that reason I didn't read the book until my GF talked me into it 15 years later. I have not yet seen the movie but plan to primarily because I love Kristen Schall. Her character was the inspiration for the Pesky character in the 2019 Wander Women UA-cam videos. BTW Redford has owned the movie rights for AWITW for years and originally wanted Paul Newman to be his co star.
I was supposed to do the pct trail and deviate after the sierras to visit my friends in washington then bike to Yosemite.. surgery instead and was on bed rest for 7 months. i am spending my quarentine strength training for my comeback.. and watching your videos :) luv em! can't wait to be strong enough to hit the trails even if i have to walk them a mile at a time lol
That's so cool that you walked into REI a newb in February and and in March you were making tracks..... So awesome. I did the same with kayaking 20 years ago.....and two decades later I've got about 30K miles under my boats and half way know what I'm doing..... As you already know...you just have to be in love with it.
I read the book not long after it came out. I think I was 11 or 12. I've read it again several times and I was excited to see the movie on my birthday 9/11/2015. I thought that it was better than I had expected it to be but I was a little disappointed in the ending.
Dixie, love this video! Had a chance to drive by and stop at Dicks Creek Gap this past weekend and definitely felt “the buzz” when I saw one of those White Blazes. 69.2 Miles back to Springer Mountain and 2122.8 Miles to Mt. Katahdin. Maybe some day soon...
Mile... Mile & a Half (2013), Beauty Beneath the Dirt (2012), Six Million Steps: A Journey Inward ( on Amazon Prime), Southbounders (2005) , These are all I can think of.
Figured It Out on the Hayduke Trail. It's not a big production but the guy did a pretty good job of documenting his mostly solo hike. Amazon Prime also has it.
As someone who hiked the PCT back in the 90's, I can tell you that by then internal frame packs were the general rule and external frames were in the minority. The transition to internal frame packs really happened back in the 80's.
May have to read that one next myself! 🤔 I’m currently reading “Wild” after watching the movie on Dixie’s recommendation! Enjoyed it so much I wanted to know more about Cheryl’s PCT adventures, & ordered the book! I’m planning my very first section hike next Fall! I want to do the great smoky’s section of the AT. Can’t take the time off work for a thru hike, but I’ll try sections! So I want to read some good books about backpacking between now & then, & probably will even take a book to read during for my evening entertainment. If anyone has some more suggestions, I’m all ears (or eyes in this case).
Of the three grand trails in the USA, the AT is the least known for me. I've day hiked only a few miles of it. I didn't see the movie but have the book on my "to reads". You've inspired me to hike more of the AT and get to reading the book and see the movie. Thanks.
Just watched this after doing a weekend solo trip and re-reading the book! Love the video too. It does sound like Bryson had some awful luck weather-wise to start. Can't imagine!
That was fun. I got excited when they showed popular spots on the trail and I haven't ever been on it. I've seen these places so many times in videos. I feel like I've been there. Too bad my section hike got canceled. Looking forward to putting boots on the trail.
This movie is what inspired me to eventually hike the AT. I was floored by the beauty of the landscape. I plan to thru hike it next year. I'm currently reading the book, and if you haven't yet I highly recommend it.

The one about Australia is extremely funny.
deborah gracie 99% of the time the book is better than the movie..
I love the book ,especially his sense of humor but he gets a little too preachy toward last part of book.
IF you like the movie, read the book, you will split a gut
this! There were lots of things that were in the book but not the movie. Like Kat throwing things away along the trail.
@@baysword that was such a funny bit. Where's the sausage?.... Flung it! 😂
I did read most of it and I agree :)
@@baysword lol and the lil debbies being left behind.
I just bought this book at goodwill today. I'm excited to start it! Woot
the way the movie starts is EXACTLY how I got into climbing, the WHOLE process.
So good, so accurate, this put a huge smile in my face.
I love your commentaries on these movies! I wasn’t crazy about this movie, per se, but you made it fun 😊 you inspire me! I’ve never done a thru hike, and the AT is my dream. I probably will never get to do it, because of health issues, but enjoy living vicariously through folks like you.
My family had bets on how long I would last...all the more motivation to finish
Did any of them bet all on you finishing?
Spite can be a great motivator for some.
*Imagine what it was like the first time to come off the trail in to the city & hear "Pandemic".* 22:33
technically march 15th we had pandemic news, since most start end april beg of may that would not happen lol but yeah that would be quite the news
You should do the movie The Way about camino de Santiago with Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez
Yeah, ditto, especially since Dixie's done the Camino. Love to hear her reactions to that one. Good movie.
I saw that movie yesterday. Amazing.
I thought it was a dreadful movie. Probably because I never watch movies, I'm not programmed very well so I find them dreadful if I ever watch one...
Agree, a review would be great. I watched The Way after walking the French Way of the Camino de Santiago and it was interesting, even a little nostalgic, to see places that I recognised from my walk. It was also interesting to compare what I experienced both mentally and physically with what was depicted in the film.
Agree!
I think we're never to old to walk!
“their existence was troublesome.”
I’ve got to remember that line for future use!
Thank you! You have such a positive energy and that is so refreshing. Love these videos.
Dixie, this was great. Just like the Wild review. Loved them both. I have followed you since the PCT. I think YOU need to invent a new trail. Maybe coast to coast?? Or just do great day hikes or weekend trips. You have the talent and the following.
I’ve always thought there should be a PCT - AT trail!
It became evident that she was a rarity.”
― Bill Bryson, A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail
Yea. In the book she pissed off so many people it becomes a running gag.
Thanks for your videos! You can't imagine how precious your videos are during the corona crisis. :)
I am enjoying these SO MUCH! And all your videos, very informative and perfect for this time in my life we’re I’m becoming more active outdoors! Appreciate you girl!!
You should totally hike the AT again. It's so clear that it's by far your favorite, and I would love to watch!
This was so great! I love the info that you have given throughout! Stay Safe Dixie
Been watching your videos from the beginning, you definitely have the most interesting, informative, and entertaining videos on hiking the trails than anyone else. Fabulous job Dixie!!! Thank You!!!
"Their existence was troublesome"....lol. Love it! Cheers from Denver :)
Big fan of Bryson. I have most of his books in my Audible library! Sorry, the film was poor in my humble opinion but I've still watched it twice!🙃
His Sunburned Country is worth it for the description of cricket alone! I had to pull off the road I was laughing so hard.
Drove to that Georgia lodge with family and saw hikers starting the trail. The lodge is very welcoming with a big fire place and beautiful windows.
Loved it. Thank you.
I'm hiking the AT in 3 months, and I'm super excited
Looks like your about a month in right now, please update us when you get service, or reach katadhin/springer!
@@alexrandell9199 Two months ago he said he's going to hike it in 3 months. That means he's going to hike it in one month. He hasn't started yet.
Southbound?
@@russianbotfarm3036 yep from Virginia to Springer mountain
Solution yep I’m an idiot who can’t count. Lmao
Partnership shelter! I can totally see it and that is hilarious to me.
NC, rules. Lol.
That opening scene is my family and friends. "You can't! This is ridiculous!" Watch me!
Those who care about you may be pessimistic about it, but those who look up to you will get stars in their eyes when you tell them.
Now you've got me thinking about rewatching Wild and A Walk in the Woods!! (Oh...one of my old army buddies was an extra in a scene in Wild.)
Really enjoyed your two movie reviews Dixie. Thanks for taking the time to do so! 😀👍❤
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. I could feel my heart speed up seeing some of The scenes again.
I should be on trail right now, my start date was the day they asked everyone to get off trail.
Condolences. I know how you must be feeling. Hang tough. You will get a chance either later this year or next!
I’m so sorry 😭
I really can't imagine how devastating that is.
has it discouraged you forever or made you even more determined?
I started Feb 29th and got kicked off by Trail Conservancy near Erwin. This year sux.
Even though he owned the rights, I think he should have has someone else play Bill....
Dixie, i have watched many of your videos and this one you really smiled and giggled.
Your videos made me decide that for my 40th in just under 2 years I plan on climbing mount whitney
That's so cool that you walked into REI a newb in February and and in March you were making tracks..... So awesome. I did the same with kayaking 20 years ago.....and two decades later I've got about 30K miles under my boats and half way know what I'm doing..... As you already know...you just have to be in love with it.
Breakfast appeared to be filmed in Amicalola Lodge as well if I'm not mistaken..
The music is the best part of the movie. I'm a huge Lord Huron fan.
Bless her heart indeed. I'll have to practice holding my tongue if I meet one.
Katahdin. Maybe some day soon...
i am glad i paused your video and watch "a walk in the woods" first. eh one day... i never give up hope. thx for all you vids
Mile... Mile & a Half (2013), Beauty Beneath the Dirt (2012), Six Million Steps: A Journey Inward ( on Amazon Prime), Southbounders (2005) , These are all I can think of.
Rogue Life Mile... Mike & a half was fantastic! I’ll have to check out the others you listed. :)
Figured It Out on the Hayduke Trail. It's not a big production but the guy did a pretty good job of documenting his mostly solo hike. Amazon Prime also has it.
I want to hike the trail really badly!!! I gotta get off my ass, get n shape and give it a go
Just go... the trail will get you in shape my friend.
As someone who hiked the PCT back in the 90's, I can tell you that by then internal frame packs were the general rule and external frames were in the minority. The transition to internal frame packs really happened back in the 80's.
Oh I'm thinking of it. I will do it in 21 years when I and my hubby are retired.
Have you read the book? I read it once a year so I can turn blue from laughing so hard. :)
My favourite word in the whole book, "flung"! 😂 😂 😂
You flung the coffee filters?
@@ladyscarfaceangel4616 Nice. The Great Smoky Mountains are beautiful .
I love that you're doing these reviews...very fun! Very entertaining and cool!
I see The Way coming?
Great reaction video! Definitely do The Way, especially since you’ve completed it so recently. That’s one of my favorite movies.
That was fun. I got excited when they showed popular spots on the trail and I haven't ever been on it. I've seen these places so many times in videos. I feel like I've been there. Too bad my section hike got canceled. Looking forward to putting boots on the trail.
Thanks Dixie...I love the book and the movie A Walk in the Woods. I section hiked McAfee Knob in 2016...the AT hooks ya to come back❤️😀
This movie is what inspired me to eventually hike the AT. I was floored by the beauty of the landscape. I plan to thru hike it next year. I'm currently reading the book, and if you haven't yet I highly recommend it.
A Walk in the Woods was like part of my time on the trail!
