I was gonna say eh it's no worse than mine, but I had a look (10:09) and it is worse than mine. Mine are only curbed on the edges. All 4 wheels, all the way around. Apparently there's products to DIY repair this with a kind of filler, and apparently it can look practically as good as new... might have to try that. Probably can't make them worse anyway lol
To be fair, 30hp loss on that 208gti with a engine management light and neglected engine (likely stretched timing chain so the variable camshafts are probably adjusting all over the place) isn't too bad considering how bad it's been neglected. People love to talk shit about the engines in these but it's really down to how well you look after it, I've got an R56 Cooper S with the same engine, expect for the fact it's meticulously maintained every 5-10,000 miles and now on 120k and still runs like it's new, no major issues with it ever, and pulls well. It's really down to how it's been treated as with any car. It's just that these engines aren't as forgiving when it comes to sheer neglect like some other engines.
Even if it had it's full original HP, Taylor and the Clio should still be able to beat it in any race. The 208 is almost twice as heavy as the Clio, with only 35 more HP.

This is a cope. They're a shit engine. Period.
You *can* make them last if you give them meticulous maintenance, but so what? Any engine can last if you maintain it religiously. A good engine lasts while being neglected and abused. Those prince engines blow up even when they're maintained properly.
There's a reason BMW abandoned them.

How the fuck does that rust repair only cost 500? Over here in the US, that's at least a couple thousand dollars. At this point, it might be cheaper for me to ship my Datsun over to the UK to get the rust fixed there rather than getting it all done here :D

That or it's the cps, I have to regularly take mine off and clean it. The only other start problem I had was due to an alarm/immobiliser that the original dealership installed poorly.

Someone is definitely eavesdropping between Autoalex and Carthrottle, a month ago both channels came out with a hypermiling challenge, a week ago both channels went on about NC MX5s and this week both bought almost the same stuff from TEMU, and all uploads were done pretty much simultaneously 🧐😅

As a straight man who has worked in Theatre for most of his life; seeing gay folk enjoying a mutual hobby with their straight(ish!) mates makes the world seem in a more normal balance to me!.. Almost like maybe some of the automotive world could have more females that love cars on board as well. I'm not after over-representation - I dislike the catch-all term 'woke' - but seriously - there isn't just a single demographic for car enthusiasts and representation does matter! The community at large should; let people like things!!

These guys turned a vauxhall corsa into a Mansori corsa, amazing.
Don't forget that rated HP/BHP/KW wtv figures are always engine power figures and never WHP, take 15-30% based on drivetrain and that's your actual HP when new. No car will ever make it's rated figure on a dyno :).
The dyno results are already correcting for this. The 208gti (although unfairly in poor condition with a engine light and neglected engine) made 142hp at wheels (what the Dyno guy said) but the 15-20% drivetrain loss was accounted for to give the 173hp crank horsepower.

@@squeakers27 correct, but that is not all dynos, and usually it will give you both corrected and WHP. WHP is more important anyways, and corrected doesn't make it actually correct, proper way would be an actual engine dyno but nobody besides high end engine builders and manufacturers do that. But corrected numbers are bogus, i only read WHP and check the curve :)

@@aquilinorodrigo no need to worry about that, the car is spoilt rotten and only gets serviced by specialists Pug1off and Motorsports Northampton. I've done 65k miles in it and it's quite heavily modified but touch wood it's been extremely reliable.

Post 2015 GTis are quite good, and the Peugeot sport version is brilliant. They come with a pan roof.
Not going to lie the 208 I had on my driving lessons although it was probably one of the biggest engined cars I've driven I wish it was a gti I always looked at them and kind of liked them it was still fun with the 1.6 diesel but a gti would of been fun. I like all 3 to points but the clip I'd say probably would be the most fun and without the small wheel easily my favourite I've always liked them from when I first saw one on tv. I think I've seen one at a car show too it looked great and fun

Yea, it's probably the best of the three cars. Alex' 208 is the heaviest (by a lot, actually), so even though he actually has a few more HP than Taylor, Taylor should beat him in a race. And Rory's VXR is going to explode anyways.
