Based on my experience, don't rush into this surgery without careful consideration. This is not to discourage any of you-surgery should be your last option. My wife has been suffering from AVN since 2012. Several doctors recommended total hip replacement (THR) at that time, but we chose to wait. Finally, we went ahead with the THR for both hips (in December 2023 and August 2024). Of course, we experienced pain initially, and it worsened to the point where we could no longer perform daily activities. Only then did we decide to go ahead with the surgery. For doctors, the surgery may be a task of 1-2 hours, but as a patient, we have to live with the results for life. Always ask who will be performing the surgery. Find out which company’s implant they are using. Check if the implant company has any negative feedback or issues.
Agree with you and that’s what we always tell our patients our patients before surgery ..although definition of daily activities is different for different patients- like some one who has to travel for work and who takes frequent flights or train journey’s then such patients usually consider surgery earlier. Having said that there are people who are living with AVN for years together because nature of their job is such that they can take it easy at work place or they can work from home . Also they don’t get mentally depressed due to limp while walking, by restriction of movements and by restricting their daily activities like morning walks or going out for vacations with family So it’s different for different patients and that’s why the treatment is tailored according to the patients requirements, occupation, pain tolerance, severity of disease on X-ray or MRI & so on and so forth Best wishes

Will it be possible for you to create a series of videos / may be 1 long video which talks about long term pain / discomfort / signs to watch out for after THR, especially bilateral? Nature of this pain, how to differentiate between muscle & bone pain, what is normal, when to consult a surgeon - things like this? I mean not necessarily about infection as you have created a wonderful video already on this but about the discomfort people experience which shall gradually subside or may be which calls for a surgeon’s opinion? Nevertheless, you are doing an amazing job already. Thank you for taking time out to educate people like me.

it depends from patient to patient .. most of our patients can do it very comfortably at 4 weeks of surgery .. please remember that you need to check with your surgeon if that’s allowed for you or not. My dadi ma had a hip injury last night…she is paralysed….or iske hal operation hi hai lekin jab ECG hui to pata chala ke heart 30% kam kr ra hai….or phir doctors keh rahe hain risk hai bohot….agar ham inhein anesthesia dein to qoma ke chances hain or agar anesthesia na dein to dard itni ho gi ke shahiad issi mein inki death ho jaye….lekin agar operation na krwayen to tangon ko 2 mah ke hain unko kamzori ho jaye gi in do mah mein….or unko sirf liquids pe rakhna hai..,,hamein kuch samajh nai a rahi please ap hamein guide krrein….!!!!!
