- "I Started a Joke" is a song by the Bee Gees from their 1968 album Idea, which was released as a single in December of that year. It was not released as a single in the United Kingdom, where buyers who could not afford the album had to content themselves with a Polydor version by Heath Hampstead. This is the last Bee Gees single to feature Vince Melouney's guitar work, as he left the band in early December after this song was released as a single.
The song's B-side was "Kilburn Towers", except in France, where "Swan Song" was used. "I Started a Joke" was written by Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb, and produced by the Bee Gees with Robert Stigwood.
Recorded on my Alan Brason Stratocaster with Zoom G3x and Boss Katana
Audio recorded in Reaper and Video recorded on a Samsung S10 and edited in Cyberlink Powerdirector.

Steve the Bee Gees were an ever present part of my life growing up in the 60's. For me personally this was their best time.I "hated" their disco era. You chose one of their best songs,and played it beautifully.Judging by your face you enjoyed "playing" it as much as I enjoyed listening. Thank you.

I learned that The Spotnicks soloist "Bo Winberg" died a month ago! and I think he was still doing concerts in early 2019-end 2018! .... I saw their show of the time, in 1964 on stage in Reims (France) with an excellent memory .... I like Johnny Guitar and others ....

That was heaven sent. My first “encounter” with the Bee Gees was on TOTP in1967...I fell in love with their music at that time...and to cap it all...I was brought up with The Shadows and Cliff...I would love to hear more Covers by you Many thanks.

Hi Steve which do you think is the best strings for shadows music flat wound or or normal pure nickel strings at the moment I use Ernie ball 10s thanks Colin
Hi Colin flat wound is probably better for the early stuff. Its really personal preference, ive tried flatwounds but prefer roundwounds myself.
