- As I work to get my $7.50 sewing machine working again and travel along the discovery of how a sewing machine works, I get it to work, only to find my bobbin tension is wrong...so more to fix!

We ended up replacing the bobbin case before it worked properly.
I bought a Singer 237 on Ebay and it came with the hand wheel completely broken off the machine. How hard would it be to replace the upper main drive shaft< If thats what I needed to do.
You got that for $7.50? Very lucky. I cant for the life of me get the bobin thread to feed upwards and I also cant find anything small enough to adjust the screw for tension on the bobin.
It was! To adjust the tension you can use a jewellers screwdriver if you can't find the sewing machine ones. There can be a few reasons for the bobbin thread not to feed up.

Could you help me on the settings on this machine I am about to throw it out the door NOT really but ! I got this 237 singer it was my mother in laws and has been sitting up for a while and I wanted to make mask but the threat on top and the bobbin thread stops connecting while sewing I can get the bobbin thread to come up and start sewing but that's it I have tried setting everything I know to but the dial on top left and the one on deck in front on left below the stitch dial I dont know what neither one of those need to be on
You’ve checked the bobbin tension? That’s often a culprit

That sewing machine can be treadled and have a hand crank put on it. It is one of singer's last good sewing machines. All metal wonderful sewing machine

It might sew leather if you used the right needle for it and went slow. As for tools, I’m not sure what you mean?
@@RedBarnHomestead Am guessing presser feet and thread. I got a presser foot with rollers on it for leather (in case the leather sticks) but the guy said the regular one would likely work.

You are missing the thread guide at the needle, good luck finding one.

Inside the bobbin case? That’s a big problem - you will need a new part.
