Got a bottle a couple of weeks ago, opened it right away - wasn’t disappointed, wasn’t blown away either….I’ll have to revisit
Dan - I agree with you. But, for me, this is probably my favorite ECBP ever (for ME). I usually don’t favor those dark leather/tobacco flavors, but this changed everything for me. Those notes, plus aged oak & usual EC sweet flavors makes this one of my favorite pours I’ve experienced

Hey. I really like it. Usually we agree on tasting notes, but I'm on the other side on this one. It's not the best ECBP, but it ain't bad either. Doing a blind on all 3 from 2021 Sunday. We'll see how it goes!
Just bought a bottle of ECBP C921 and proofed it down with some EC toasted barrel. Was not disappointed

I was able to score the B batch, and I’ve really been enjoying it. I’ve had pretty good luck with some good bottles this year, and the B521 stands out as one of my favorites.
I passed on this year's EcBp C9 and opted to buy Eagle rare store pick and Blanton's store pick, might regret in the long run but I'll soak my sorrows in my ECBPc919🔥

Come back after a month and see if C921 changes. I hated regular small batch EC at first but it opened up to delightfulness.
The C921 became my immediate favorite bourbon. It makes me happy that others don’t care for it
Leather daddy loves a good dominatrix whiskey. Every ecbp has been super differently reviewed based on whos doing it. Some have said its by far the best one and others hate it. They are just putting out super different stuff every time and i can get behind that. The same profile every year gets old.

I completely agree. This is wildly different than the B batch. I got into bourbon in 2021, so I missed out on the 2020 releases and even the A batch from this year because I didn’t know about ECBP yet and honestly it probably would have roasted my mouth, haha! That said I really enjoyed B, it was just delicious caramel all day. This is completely different and I completely agree with Dan about everything being dark. I got the same things, the char and the dark chocolate. In my short time tasting whiskey I have not tasted anything like this and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Got one yesterday. Maybe my favorite bourbon ive had.
@4:40 this is a great whiskey and this is the most accurate description I’m a certified sommelier and that is exactly my notes as well and I blinded this with five other whiskeys that were very good including my 2016 C batch and B batch. The thing that struck me the most was the intensity and the strangeness of the char and almost chocolate Mint nose and again I agree with almost a weird strawberry red fruit cream just a touch in the back you describe this whiskey almost identically to the way I did….
This goes to show why you guys are my favorite bourbon channel I thought personally it was a very good C batch i like a bourbon that punches and the finish is big !!
I think anybody that is like this is different immediately thinks it’s worse but I think this whiskey has a lot to offer it was my favorite in the lineup.
I love ECBP and finally got my hands on some C921. I agree with pretty much everything you guys say. I get a lot of brown sugar on the nose maybe molasses. Also some worn leather like an old book cover. But then when you drink it you get some of that barrel bitterness. I love it even though it tastes "angry"

I'm getting cotton candy and candied nuts on the nose (in addition to the char). It is a bit tannic in the finish but that subsides and doesn't leave me dry mouthed. I'm liking it for its darkness!
Hilariously, just got this this morning at Hendersonville NC ABC store. Showed up at 6am for the 9am store opening, got the only bottle there ☺️
Good pick up! I also got my 6 bottles from a hole in the wall store in NC. Also got an EHT Single Barrel from a store right by it.

I found an ECBP C921 as well as a bottle of Eagle Rare this week. I felt like an elf who got away with robbing Santa’s bag of goodies. The ECBP was heavenly (pun intended). Especially when I snacked on some honey roasted peanuts while sipping. Love it or hate it the whiskey is special for a 12 year at the $65 retail. Gotta thank you two bc after I watch your videos I always feel like hunting. Happy Festivus!!

Switching to #teamdan just did, b520,c920,b521 and c921 blind and c921 won. And I expected c920 to win
just dropped in central wisconsin. $65.99. First pour light wood and pecan.
Front palette for me was not good. Mid & finish were pretty good. Nose was better than mouth profile. I agree with both sides of your tasting notes. I think that wet dead tree was front palette for me. Thanks for the review guys!
I got a bottle last week. Have not opened it. Cost me $88 in MO. I have had a good month so far Stagg, Little book, MSND in Nov. so far.

I agree with Dan. Lots of wood, oak- and a very dark taste for me. It opens up after leaving it out for a bit- but heavy wood and oak presence.

I've had the B520, this one- C921, and the A122. My favorite one is the C921; I loved it too. A122 was pretty disappointing though.

Hmm, I had this the other night after going in to a store and finding 6 sitting there for $69 each. I thought it was a bit alcoholic and not the sweet, dense bourbon I usually enjoy from ECBP. Hopefully air will open the bottle. I compared it to three other 2019 and 2020 batches and it finished last.
Tried the c921 earlier today. One of the best ecbps ive had in a while imo. Really like it. Heavy dark and sweet.

I am a huge fan of this release too. I enjoy that not all ECBP are the same, and I really like the lower proof on occasion too, hopefully 2022 will be a mix of high and low proof.

It seems like ECBP has toned down the ABV to be inline with LarcenyBP. I don't know if that's a good thing though. It's what seperates them apart in the past.

I just picked up an ECBP private barrel (119 proof). Getting that same weird earthy taste. Did side by side with A121, A121 blew it away... wasnt close.

Every ECBP i’ve had didn’t hit its peak flavor until 1/2 way down the bottle
Well unfortunately this isn't our bottle so we'll never know. We opened it and took a couple oz out and let it sit for a while. With it only being 120 proof we figured it wouldnt change as much as c920 at 132 proof

I would describe this as a slightly lower proof version of Stagg Jr batch 16.

The swamp characteristic of certain oak funk is something that can kill a bottle for me but I found it to be a positive note in c921. I too love this bottle and that it’s sooo different from the b series that I also love.

C921 is definitely better than A121 and B521. I would even say better than C920, which I consider an all star bottle. A121 seemed like it fell a bit short for me, B521 tasted like standard EC turned up to 11 and was very good but nothing new, C921 is just so dark and so rich,without being overproofed, it also has notes I've never really got from an ECBP before.

Too many bad or mediocre reviews on all 2021 ECBP releases. I’ve skipped buying every one. I can still find B520 and older batches on the shelves so just buying those. Hoping next year is better, but I don’t think so, hate to be a downer but I’m forecasting it’s all downhill from here with the best batches behind us. They’ll still be pretty good, but not as good as they used to be.
