Mako Mermaids S2 E1: The Seventh Cycle

- Two young mermaids, Ondina and Mimmi, run away from the Mako Island pod with Sirena to try to turn the merman ZAC back into a land boy. But Zac’s connection to Mako is growing stronger. If they fail, they may never break his connection and save Mako for the pod. On the full moon, they attempt to remove his merman powers when his girlfriend Evie comes to the rescue.

@@_angle_studio_ the actresses left the show. Their characters were written out with the explanation that they left Mako with the pod to find a new home. Which really felt unlike them.

I actually really like Mimmi, she’s so klutzy lol. And it’s cool seeing a Canadian mermaid! Seeing that she’s an alchemist is an interesting new take as well. I like her better than Nixie, who was honestly pretty selfish. But I do prefer Lyla to Ondina so far. I’m glad Sirena stayed.

I saw an argument that it made sense to switch out Lyla and Nixie for the new mermaids bc their characters were "fulfilled" and didn't have much more to flesh out, and while I could agree when it comes to Lyla bc she had a lot of screentime when defending Zac, I feel like Nixie almost ended up forgotten. She was so cool, a bit selfish but confident, and she had a very interesting relationship with Cam with him being kind of the "bad guy" and her being on the "good" side. I liked that clash between them, I wish we got more of their relationship xD
I love how ondina & mimmi try 2 use a potion 2 take away zac's powers & evie is turned into a mermaid & sirena shows evie how to use her powers in mako mermaids season 2

@@BrightLove-mu8hj I'm my opinion Evie is good. She definitely was the most annoying character of season 1 but that's understandable considering that Zac (her boyfriend) was hanging out with 3 random girls, keeping secrets from here, acting weird. Even Cam clearly knowing everything than also him and Zac having fights then Evie left without proper explanations because they couldn't reveal Zac.
In season 2 she definitely redeemed herself, she's not my favorite character but a good character.
The paralism of her getting her tail to save Zac and then loosing it to save Zac is spectacular I'm my opinion.
Season three she was great too.
I'm just glad she didn't turn into a Charlotte from h20.

For real! I started s2 first somehow and I couldn't get through it whole and I got the impression that the characters were so bad and the episodes were them constantly doing something else except helping Zac, then I started s1 and it's soo much better. I find Mimi and Ondina bland, Nixie was funny and sassy, while Lyla always brought good drama because of how bold and impatient she was and she had such good chemistry with Zac. Idk, they acted better and had more interesting personalities.

I was not happy at all that Nixie and Lyla left the show. However, I stayed open minded for these 2 new girls, and they are actually pretty good characters too.

Coming back to rewatch this and I gotta say I love that they revamped the speed swimming by adding better CGI and new scenes for it. Just reusing the same old shots over and over again was getting repetitive

@@justaperson9136 in the show they use the word hatchlings when they speak about young mermaids so I think that means they lay eggs. and when fish lay eggs they are usually fertilized by other fish sperm already in the water so technically they wouldn't need mermen to reproduce.

She showered before her powers settled in. I thought i heard her say she had a shower that morning so I assumed she showered before her powers developed.

I love the fact that they use background music from H2O
A lot of people were upset that nixie and lyla left, and while I was first at too, I feel like their characters had reached their full arcs. Maybe not nixie, but definitely lyla. She really pushed passed her stubbornness and let the girls in, while also forming relationships on land. I feel like that started to happen with nixie toward the end, but we were cut off too short. Still, love ondina and Mimi! So annoyed that mako mermaids just got taken off of Netflix and half the episodes on UA-cam are blocked un the US lol.

I have some ideas for a new Mermaid show. One of my ideas is how about there are three mermaids like this one from the Mako Pod, but one girl or two girls or three girls fall into the moon pool and turn into mermaids and the Mako Pod mermaids need to go on land to help the mermaid or mermaids keep her or their mermaid secret and help her or them master their new mermaid powers. Another idea is the Mako Pod finds a fairy or two fairies or three fairies on Mako Island and has to help her or them get back home where she or they live or has to help the fairy or fairies with losing their magic in her or their wands or something else, but still help she or they keep the fairy or fairies a secret. I thought of theses ideas, cause I love H2O-Just Add Water and Mako Mermaids! They are my favorite mermaid shows!💗
