West of Woodville on190 is the Indian casino. Also on 190 near Woodville is Heritage village with our World famous Pickett House restaurant.Nice revamped County courthouse also south on 69 is the big thicket visitor center. Trying to sell it the best I can not a whole lot to see really but a small town indeed. And by the way the bird is a Peacock.
It's our town Peacock called Percy! And if you would like a tour next time let us know! Happy to show you the things you missed. We actually have 3 restaurants and two convenience stores
Got married in 2001 and had our rehearsal dinner at the Brazos Belle. It was an amazing restaurant back then! I dont know if they are still open to this day. Seeing the state of it now is kinda sad. Thanks for the trip back in time...
Wow! Thanks for doing this town! Brings back a lot of childhood memories. I dont know if you saw the First Baptist Church, but there is a little white wooden house behind it, and my grandparents lived there for free because my grandpa was the pastor
@stephaniejarvis6542 let's see, I was in 1st grade when they moved there from lake charles, so I guess that would've been 1988/'89....up until 1992 or 1993 after my grandma passed....
I grew up on a cotton farm in Rosenberg. We would bring our cotton trailers to a cotton gin. They would process the cotton by removing the seeds and then baling it. They would sell to companies that would make items from the cotton. I remember the gin being very noisy.
There is a little town just north called Dime Box....i used to ride into that town with my grandma as a kid. It is called dime box because they used to leave a .10 cents in a little box for the mail carrier (which in those days was probably a decent tip...lol).
Burton has lots of quaint antique shops. Not sure how you missed them. I would love to live there, but the houses are mostly Air B&B's and sale for top dollar. When the antique shows come to town, Round Top & Burton flourish. 'Flamingo' had me LMAO
Hmmm, depends, we bought our house for under 100k and the price has gone up substantially. So im not sure. Retirement is creeping up on me. I would love to be closer to saltwater, but we will see @Thissmalltown
Many are location independent and work from home. I’m in a 1400 pop town in Texas where my husband grew up. I welcomed getting out of the city and far far away from be under house arrest for a week because a chemical plant made a blunder and not able to use my air conditioning or open a window. I love having 🐄 as neighbors!
Could you live in a town that only had one restaurant and one convenience store?
What other small towns should I visit next? 🤔
Always welcome to visit Woodville tx.

@largent9 that's hilarious because my girl and I just visited that casino today!
Check out Athens, TX. You can visit the fish hatchery and then fish Lake Athens. Cool spot, even downtown is interesting.

Wow, great story and thanks for watching!
You missed the Short Stop Restaurant & The Cactus Restaurant that’s a bit out of town. And yes several Antique Shops with a new one that just opened.
You should fish all these towns while you’re there

That's pretty cool and I'm glad you enjoyed the episode. Wouldn't have happened if not for your suggestion. Thank you!
@ryanraddin9568 I'm part of our local heritage society, when was your Grandfather the pastor at the Burton Baptist Church?

Lol interesting.
That was a gin pole on that mini flatcar. Used to pick up loads and swing them onto a railcar or a dock.
Ohhh, thanks!
That bird might be a peacock possibly !!
LOL yes, someone else confirmed this for me. I couldn't think of the name of the bird to say my life during that moment. 😩😂
Well done video, beautiful opening
Thank you Melodie!😎
Nice
Wild peacock we have them here in Las Vegas.

Yeah, I had no clue at the time of filming this how big antiquin gets around this area and that bird was killing me.😂😭😂
Do a part 2 and go to the Burton sausage factory / farm! and the museums.
I be trying but everything is closed apparently every weekend.
@@ThisSmallTown the Burton sausage factory is open on the weekend 😁
@@laleeahomes3348Burton Sausage is no longer. There’s another business in that space.
Peacock. Used to draw one who lived across the street from a little house I lived in one summer In Tucson.
Beautiful animal, but a little terrifying seeing them outside of the zoo.
Sis-turn. Why did you put an r in it? You need to go tour the one in Houston.
BTW, I live in a small town with maybe 10 restaurants. But as usual, it's growing rapidly!
That's sad to hear because I know you would want to keep it small!

Check out Rusk Texas to see if Train rides are still available
Thanks!
Rusk Tx went there a lot as a kid. My aunt and uncle lived there. He was the DJ for the radio station there. Enjoy!
The train ride leaves from Palestine to Rusk, rode it this year, very nice.
F+t, I'm missing you fishing! I like the new channel, but I miss you fishing. You do you, but I need saltwater in your videos also. 🎣🎣🎣
Yeah, I appreciate that, but after 4 years of doing fishing content I needed a change.
@Thissmalltown I get it, it's a grind! But, I think you need a mix. Get the kayak out!
great town my parents live there thats the town peacock

Lol I know now, but it was killing me in the video. Thanks for watching! 😎
Peacock....the birds name

These people must be well off, there is no work available here
I'm thinking they must be either business owners or retired.
