+Kayak Chris Nice day with with the black drums around Kuwanis but found the school of reds on the flats just south of the airport. Happy fishing Chris!
Fatboy Scotty I have no control over the grippers breaking the skin when the fish wiggles. I don't like it either. Regardless those fish went home in the cooler. Nowadays I rarely use the grippers anyway, I try to be more self conscious on the safe release.
Looks like you had a great day there Chris! Generally how deep was the water over there? Haven't had the yak out tooooooo much rain here and had an op on my arm, but soon! I haven't had the yak over on the East side yet still been exploring around here... Thanks for sharing! W
Walt G Most of the area was around 3 ft deep. The closer to the West bank we got the skinnier the water. I had my best luck following the schools of bait fish around about 50 yds off shore. it was a great time. I'm definitely going back.
Fs9AirbusA300Pilot Thanks Airbus! I like using a popping cork with live shrimp. Pop it every 3-5 seconds to attract fish to the bait. As far as lures are concerned I prefer the skitterwalk in silver for top water and a Zman paddlerz 4 inch newpenny color jig on a red 1/8 oz. jig head in areas that grass isn't to big of a problem.
True, at the time I went here on someone's directions and put in a bit South. For anyone interested, the NMZ is North starting at Kars park. We almost made it that far on this trip but my next NMZ video starts at Kars and we fish the correct area.
You got another like Chris. What a productive fishing day. Thanks for sharing bud.
Kayak Frank Thanks Frank, I had a great day. I can't wait to go back and hopefully find that big RED I've been looking for.
And it looks like has a lot of trout
Yes, and big reds also. My most recent video is filmed in the same area.
Some good fishin out behind Kuwanis right now. Hope to see ya out there on the Yak!
Sean Turpin Thanks Sean, we are putting in at Kars park tomorrow morning. Hoping to stalk some big reds.

You really shouldn't use those grippers like that. They aren't intended to rip through the lips of the fish...

Nice video! What do you recommend to use when catching trout? I'm kind of new to fishing and usually fish off docks by 404 on the Indian River.

Kayak Chris I'll try that, thanks!
How deep is the area
Right now the water is up a bit from the hurricane so it averages between 3- 4ft.
What kind of yaks are those? Field & stream?
Yes Sir! Eagle Talon.
Are you using a popping cork ?
Yeah, the good ole Cajun Thunder popping cork plus I was throwing top water (skitterwalk) and a zman jig.
You're not in the no motor zone at all...............Still a few miles away in fact...........

+Adam Smith Thank you for pointing this out, I meant to update the title and description when I found out I was in the wrong spot but never did.
