Awesome! Just a tip for beginners... It's always a good idea to test fit with the buckle you are going to use and with the watch you want to put it on before you finish your edges. If you need to sand more for it to fit, you will have to start your edges over again.

Excellent stuff. As you say, it’s simple to make but I think that simplicity along with the choice of leather and, most importantly, accuracy in the work, makes the end product very appealing. It’s simplicity in aesthetic has charm that other more complex straps lack. Another success

thank you! easy to make as a beginner, however for the life of me I can't seem to keep the edge straight :( the buckle and spring bar ends were too large by about 1mm after I cut, tried sanding it down but it was not making much progress, so then I try to correct it by cutting a little bit with x-secto knife and got the spring bars and buckle fit but while getting everything fit I got the outline all crooked, and the more I tried to correct it but cutting the edge the more crooked it becomes. Any tip on how to make minor adjustment without ruining the outline of the strap?

What watch is that, please? Looks very nice..
Do you have to dye, burnish, and use tokonole on the sides? Is that purely an aesthetic choice or is there a functional reason for doing that? I'm curious about making my own watch strap, but have never worked with leather before. If you need to stain and burnish the sides to prevent fraying or other damage, I understand. But if it's just to make it look attractive, then I might skip that step!

Umm. Glued up ends before you put the buckle in? Does that buckle have a removable pin? How did you do that? Also with no knot do your stitches stay put or do you find they pull through after a bit if wear?

When you glue the leather pieces together without stitching the whole way is it strong enough? I'm learning to make watch straps now :)
It depends on the glue, but most leather adhesives on the market are very strong so it’s strong enough. Also he uses strong nylon thread so that will make it last longer.
