I'm actively ambivalent on that Mirage. They definitely spiffed up the back and arms, might have reworked the whole torso transformation for better and worse (we'll see), and at least used new bits in the knees, but it's still kinda... eh. And the way they're throwing him in with the Dinobot recolor and doing them as an exclusive is kinda criminal.

They did, in fact, reveal a better Mirage the day before, but with less than 24 hours between the announcement and the video going up, there was no time to correct that error
I’m one of those people that got mixed up between Bluestreak and Smokescreen. For reasons being because of their color, when I heard the name Bluestreak my mind naturally made me assumed that Smokescreen is Bluestreak because he’s well blue while I assume Bluestreak is Smokescreen.
As I said, their names tend to confuse me, as someone who as new in the Transformers Fandom.
Okay, two things. I laughed suddenly at the Nintendo Zapper skit, and I absolutely LOVED that final transformation before they drove off. So fluid.
I GIVE YOU A EARTHRISE BARRICADE AND YOU DON'T EVEN REVIEW IT!
Jokes aside, this mold is stellar, and the review does it justice. Bluestreaks kick! The smoke after effects! And that transformation at the end! Amazing!
I've got so many skit ideas I had to break them up into their own individual pack reviews haha. I really did have a ton of fun with this video though

Oh my god, the opening skit. XD. When I was first introduce to Bluestreak and Smokescreen, yes, I too got the names mixed up because of their 1:34 color schemes.
-The dramatic shooting pose 17:47 is cool. But the flying kick 17:50 amination is awesome.
I’d just like to applaud you for that Portal bit. That was so clean! And showing your animation rig through the bottom portal was a nice little bit of detail.

This has been one of my favourite Earthrise molds. Barricade is probably my favourite version of it, as Barricade is one of my favourite TF characters
Barricade is my favorite version of this mold and Prowl (Earthrise) I dont even have ER Prowl and I'm annoyed.. I have ER Barricade though!
Definitely agree that these are the best versions of these characters, though aesthetically speaking I find Smokescreen better, as he has painted legs, where as Bluestreak and Prowl look like their legs are made out of glass, shame Hasbro couldn't splash a bit of paint on them, or you know, stop using brittle, breakable, clear plastic altogether 🤷🏻♂️ maybe the with the upcoming price increases they can afford to stop using it, but anyway nice review, really enjoyed it, thank you.
Since my Earthrise Smokescreen should be here soon, this should be a interesting watch.

Were it not for my sheer nervousness with the knees on both Siege and Earthrise versions of the Datsuns, I'd feel far more bummed that I can't get Prowl and Barricade (the ones I have an attachment to) on their own, coz these molds DO look amazing!
As is, considering they're also kinda victims of Hasbro's unreasonably rampant exclusivity last year
(such that I was actually fortunate to get Ironhide on his own, and at least SG Ratchet is "shelfwarming" for cheap so i can just paint him up), I don't feel too bad settling for Combiner Wars Prowl and TLK Premiere Edition Barricade with a Shapeways head.
I prefer barricade as a mustang cuz we don’t get a variety of vehicle modes like that anymore
Prowl having that younger looking head was one of my gripes with the ER version too. It's more cartoon accurate from what I can tell, but I liked the idea of all 3 having different variations of essentially the same head design.
I know for me at least, I couldn't stand the Siege Datsons as I thought both robot and vehicle mode looked like complete trash to me. When I saw pics of the Earthrise versions... I could already feel my money slipping free from my poor abused wallet
If you wanna save money start buying instant ramen for a week so you don’t use up too much money. The money you want for the figures won’t be and issue.
I NEED to get Siege Prowl because I don't have Earthrise. I dont care for the Siege alt mode I just care for the robot mode!

re: custom headlights - I need to take this opportunity to say that I am so happy that I found this channel. It never occurred to me that modifying figures was an option, and as such, I've taken the liberty of spraying some rubber soles onto the heels, as well as securing the ankles of my Orthia combiner. Sure, she still suffers from some ratchet joints being flimsier than they should be (and I'm open to any suggestions on how to fix that), but just getting the feet to CONNECT to the legs like they're supposed to and not slipping and sliding around under her own weight is a VAST improvement.

Honestly i feel the same about the names not matching the colors, also i got smokescreen at WalMart for $10 and bluestreak at Walgreens
I like movieverse barricade, his design is more iconic to me and is not just prowl in con colors
About the molding issue of the legs/shins and the roof not aligned properly, you're right on that.
However, some copies of the Earthrise Datsun molds have different shin pieces in which dubbed the "open-knee" and "close-knee" versions.
To explain and identify which one, the shins may differ on the copy: the open-knee version has a gap, which allows the roof to be aligned properly. The closed-knee version is most likely the one that caused the roof to be misaligned.
I would like to see what trouble Prime gets into when he returns to the ark!

A nice thing I’ve done with my copy of Bluestreak is to use a silver paint pen and paint the mirrors, shoulder guns and hand gun, and it makes him look quite good
My earthrise smokescreen has a splotch of green paint on the back of his head and really loose knees, and when I transformed him once the peg on the inside of the shins got a stress mark.
Now he can’t even transform at all, thanks Hasbro for your amazing QC work!

At first I had been wishing I had skipped the Siege line and started collecting the Earthrise versions of these figures.
But then I started hearing about all of the quality control issues with the Earthrise line. So now I’m glade I have the Siege figures that I wanted and just need a few Earthrise figures to round out my collection.
With all of that out of the way, thanks for another great review LEB!

I spit out my water when I heard "Thanks to the 14th prime for these two figures" I said to myself "Yo I know that guy!" That was a fun conversation.
Fantastic review as always. I swapped heads as well used super glue to make the earthrise prowl and barricade heads fit on the siege bodies. They aren't lose anymore and work wonderfully

Just wanted to say that I FREAKING LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUVVV!!! This channel, I think I first found it in my feed, and I commented on the Jazz figure and how much I ENJOY your stop motion, don't know how old you are, but I saw the original Transformers the movie in 1986 when it came out, and have the director's uncut version on the 20th Anniversary DVD edition, any to make a long story short, your stop motion and portrail of the characters just gets me in the FEELS!!! I feel like a kid again watching Transformers after school, well technically I had just graduated before the movie came out that summer, but the cartoon was still running in the afternoon, I also really enjoyed your reviews, and again your stop motion is THE BEST!!!!!! that I've seen to date, especially the bumpers they have that classic old school stop motion feel, but with a crisp clean edge to them, they always put a SMILE on my face, on average how long does it take you to do them??? THXZZZ for the SMILES!!!
Bluestreak is probably the most stylish figure I have in my collection next to SS86 Hot Rod and Jazz. Glad to see a review of him!
The stop motion parts are still all I really watch these for, but I mean they are literally so we'll put together. I also appreciate the Kingdom size comparisons.

Actually you're wrong about the Cybertronian numbers on Smokescreen being 49. It's actually 38. Tfwiki has a page on Cybertronian alphabet and numbers.
Ok so I got ER Bluestreak and had several false alarms while looking at the sculpt work because I thought it looked like chipping. Why sculptors? Why?
The transformation animation at the end is so dynamic!
what i do with the weapons is to stick them on the underside since theres enough space there. The gun slides a bit in the front bumper amd the arms fold in to let the handle lock it in place. The shoulder cannons I chuck inside the cockpit.
Lucky you--every Walgreen's I've been to in the past year has had its entire stock of Transformers cleared out. Which seriously sucks, 'cos Bluestreak was my first G1 figure and has been one of my favorite characters for a long time. Ah, well--I'll get him one a' these days.
As a side note, I _love_ the custom headlight inserts you made--they really do bring out more of the classic 280ZX elements of the altmode. When I finally _do_ get myself a Bluestreak (and, if I'm so fortunate, a Smokescreen and a Desk-fli--I mean Prowl), I'll be hitting you up for upgrades. :D
I feel like those gap fillers do more harm than good like they always pop off and they're very easy to forget about when transforming

Speaking of the whole swapping the siege/Earthrise heads…I did that with my siege and earthrise primes. The siege head on the earthrise works…not so much the earthrise head on siege primes body.
Isnt paint apps the only difference between the two heads. Are they not physically the same mold?

Awesome review of them and cool Bluestreak and Smokescreen. My brother have Siege Barricade and Odyssey of Punch/Counterpunch and Barricade and I have a EarthRise Bluestreak and is true the toy of Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen and Barricade car forms are amazing and yes they used a EarthRise Bluestreak as Silverstreak from the Dreamweaver comic again thank you for the video.
I guess I got fairly lucky with mine, having 3 out of the 4 not having the annoying roof problem. Bluestreak being the one the was sad, and he ended up being the first one I got and it got me worried about the rest to then not have the problem any of the rest, which made me super relieved, seeing as I really enjoy them.

Since Prowl was an exclusive and I'm not a huge fan of Smokescreen, I decided to get Bluestreak as my first dip of the mold. I am really impressed with literally everything about the figure. Great vehicle mode, amazing robot mode and that articulation is just insane. One of the most articulated deluxes ever. However my only gripe is the clear plastic, they feel weak and the pin joints there are also a little loose. Especially with so many breakage reports, I feel anxious handling the figure. I do feel it's more of the great display and one to pose around with but not one for consistent fiddling and transforming unless done with precaution. Nonetheless it's the best deluxe in ER imo
The sticket set for Smokescreen is absolutely required for this toy.
I always say the Datsun trio as the counterpart to the seeker trio. Great videos, keep them coming!

I Just want to say thank you for sharing the headlight 3d print file to Shapeways. I ordered 1 and I just want to say it's amazing. The only one from this mold I have is prowl. I wanted to make him more g1 accurate so I painted him to look the part, but after I saw this video I immediately ordered the headlights to complete the look and now it's really awesome.

I really love that Bluesteak, he's one of my favorites from back in the day.
Speaking of that contemporary earth mode Mirage retool that got announced, it hurts my heart a bit that he sold out his pre-orders on pulse in a day while the two SGs still have theirs available.
I am aware of the limited numbers the 2-pack with Grim had, but Blurr and Megatron have had weeks if not months of a headstart.

I’m not trying to be that guy but I mentioned what I’m about to say on another channel and I hope that someone who makes these wonderful figures will take the advice and make a better version. Because I really like the Datsun Brothers and Jazz.
To remedy the hollow lower leg look without compromising the transformation, they only have to take the back hamstring of those stocky thighs and create a thin hinged flap down to the calves and it will look more solid from the side and back.
I’ve noticed they used the headsculpts of the first releases of MP18 & MP19…I’ve never seen anyone mentioned that
I try not to get more than one version of a figure mold and I chose smokescreen over bluestreak simply because he looked more unique and colorful with the blue and red. But bluestreak's still tempting me with his more sleek silver/gunmetal finish. The silver rims really help him too...
Damnit I might just get him once this lockdown ends after all.
Just love the Prime Problem reference at the beginning.
