I just bought one and your thoughts about the axles really helped me. I replaced them with better ones that does not slip and now it can climb places that it couldnt before. Thanks for the video.
with the WPL's, carefully remove axle input gear from shaft, remove the inside bushing. use a paper punch with thick card stock or matchbook cover, put the "dot" where the bushing goes, get it a little wet with CA and press the bushing in. after drying, drill through the paperboard center hole, shaft back in and carefully press the bevel gear back on. I saw this flaw in other peoples UA-cam videos, did to my C24 as I was building it, also to the RTR B1 that I'd picked up for 20 bucks (US) from GearBest before even running it. have had no problems with the plastic bevel gears, with the WPL there is room to do same to both bushings, stock are REALLY sloppy at the short shafts. if its too tight it will feel too notchy, if thats the case, make a paper gasket for the input bell to regain a little clearance for the bevel gears. its the simple cheap easy (cheesy?) fix for the axle gear issue.
In my case, the nylon pinion was slipping on the steel input shaft. So I have replaced it with one frome a WPL B36. It is one piece with the shaft and made of brass. The prop shaft was then glued with super glue and the prop shaft press fitted back in place. Works fine, as you can see in my next video
TheDIYGuy999 Is the mesh is not the same from the metal pinion gear to the plastic axles gear if people follow your directions metal and plastic they’re going to run into problems that might be why you’re getting 👎 plastic on plastic and metal on metal is only way to do it right my truck is running a 370 motor 320a ESC and 3s Lipo with plastic gears CA glued just like my buddy Model nutty says! It would be wise to listen and learn!
The mesh is the same and metal on plastic is not necessarily a bad idea. A 320A ESC is overkill in a slow 1:12 scale vehicle. Of course the 180 size motor is not the best for extreme rock crawling, but perfectly good for trail runs in the forest. I will upgrade the drive train later on, but for now it‘s OK and works just fine.
TheDIYGuy999 If you get the plastic gear and line it up with the metal one They do not line up equally. so the gear mesh is not the same but are close enough for now like he say but The 320a 3s Lipo Set up I am using may seem overkill to You but a lot of the rocks I crawl over seems that way too! I am still using all plastic original gears only modified to run metal driveshaft and CA glued pinion gear just like model nutty said in the comment above! No disrespect I actually hit the thumbs up button just so I can keep this in my like list to go back later and discuss these things with intelligent people like yourself! Keep up the good work can’t wait to see the next videos of the forest all we have around here Is The high mountain desert so lots of rocks.
Like what You're doing with these, they have a good look. Fix the steering and it's not that bad for the money. I got the C14 to mess with too, and same as this, I can see the links, bushings, plastic joints, gears, wearing and breaking pretty quickly with any significant use, providing the opportunity for replacement and upgrades, but by the time you add all those and shocks, it may add up to ECX Barrage money, at least the builder kit. Only time will tell, looking forward to the rest of the videos. It's still very tempting at the price, specially for masochists such as myself who actually kind of enjoy the experience of wearing out and breaking stock parts and upgrading (vs buying and building upgraded in the first place). What I don't like is having those crappy stock parts sit around or go to waste, so I do wish upgraded versions would be available with ball-links and metal parts included in stead of the crappy plastics. I'd pay the bit more more up front to save on producing and buying parts that I and many others are only going to use temporarily or not at all. I'm sure the body alone would sell pretty well too. P.S. These are selling as a WPL 1/12 on US eBay.
That‘s how business works: sell the truck for cheap and then sell expensive upgrades 😉. Seriously, I just love to work on RC cars and to improve things.
I'm looking for a 1/12 scale offroad car to display with my model kit figure but it seems the only cars available in 1/12 scale are RC cars, and it also seems this model is the cheapest one. It's a bit daunting to see because, since it's not made as a model kit, there's so much unfamiliar processes I need to go through before it could serve its intended purpose, like sawing off the doors so I can open and close them. If I ignore the electrical and mechanical systems, would you say it's easy enough to assemble to the point I could get the wheels to roll freely?
*To people looking to buy this as an RTR:* I love the RTR version but it has a very bad Servo, I highly recommend buying it and a Metal Servo at the same time. Then just run that RC until the stock servo breaks and replace it! BTW: Most WPL servos fit.
Hello, I already bought a MN D90 but I have issues trying to charge the batteries, is there any advice to buy at amazon a battery kit for this cheap crawlers? Cheers!
Hello, I am looking for a new rear propshaft. Wpl ones do not match - do they? Furthermore, the tires are that soft, they kick off the rims, especially at the front axle. Any tip appreciated. Heinz
Hi, the axles are longer than in WPL models, so you need to find longer 3mm steel axles. All other parts such as gears, bearings, prop shafts etc. are compatible.

It is 1/12, much bigger than the 1/16 WPL. If you have experience with Tamiya, it will be no problem to assemble this kit. There are no diffs, the axles are already locked. The link to WPL metal gears is in the video description.
