Number 7 is one that so often gets said accidentally wrong 🙈 like with my illness people hear it and automatically think of death sentences, wheelchairs or from someone from a tv soap that had it. I have to explain its something that everyone experiences differently. Awesome video as usual ❤️
I have fetal alcohol syndrome, and I don't get along with my older sister, she accuses me and my mom for using my disability to get out hard things and that these are things that I can really do, but then she turns around and uses my disability against me to put me down. It's like okay let's assume I use my disability as a crutch, why is it not okay for me to do it is for you? Makes me so mad!
Sometimes I think you're being too kind. If someone thinks medication is a bad idea, or that yoga will 'cure' your disability, (I have had similar comments) they are not usually trying to help, they are simply trying to push you away in an emotional way because of your disability. My personal hatred is "You shouldn't define yourself by disability" when I haven't even mentioned my cerebral palsy.
You could be right - I do tend to try and look for the best in people, sometimes to my detriment. Ohh, I forgot that one! That's the worst. Like disabilities to shape the way you think and exist, so while you are not just your disability, your disability did and does define who you are in that you wouldn't be the same if you weren't disabled. It's just such a ridiculous thing to say to someone.
