Far to the south of The Last Ruin lies a cliffside village called The Monument. For generations, it protected an ancient shrine until the day a crystal meteorite descended. The meteor's denizens slowly crept out into the world-bizarre monstrosities from nightmare, attacking all in their path. As they spread across the land, there was no intelligent malice nor grand invasion strategy; the creatures acted like a fungus-spreading into new territory sporadically.
After many fruitless attempts to expel the monsters, the people of The Monument fled as their village crumbled, exiled to distant lands, resigned to a nomadic existence.
Twenty years later, there are rumors that the bizarre monsters are growing weak. They’re slower, less impervious to attack, some undergoing a gradual petrification until they crumble to dust. Is it the atmosphere? Are they dying of old age? Do they suffer from a strange disease? No one is certain, but as the news spreads, various factions set their eyes on the vacant, ruined village of The Monument. The original villagers, now refugees, are desperate to return and rebuild. But they must do it quickly, before someone else claims their home. This is their chance. It’s now or never.
In Now or Never, you and up to three friends compete to best rebuild your ancestral village and guide the rest of the villagers on their journey home. Although the creatures of the meteorite have lost much of their strength, many of them remain, and you must fight them off to protect traveling villagers. Now or Never is the third game in the Arzium storybook series that includes Above and Below and Near and Far.
Now or Never is a competitive strategy game that allows you to:
Choose one of four asymmetrical characters to play.
Rebuild the village so that returning villagers have a place to live. You must carefully choose what and where to build to maintain an advantage, earning the biggest rewards for long-term planning.
Interact with other players by hiring their specialists to perform special actions.
Combat dangerous creatures to rescue villagers.
Explore a fantasy landscape filled with bizarre places, technology, and peoples.
Now or Never includes two modes of play: standard and story. When playing in story mode, you read from a storybook when you explore, making choices and learning more about the characters and the world. Each character has their own set of stories, unique to the locations they explore and diverse in plot, perspective, and motive, allowing you to choose what direction your own story will take.
Journey to The Monument and help rebuild your ancient home!

It was the artwork for The Ancient World that attracted me to the game, but the game-play that made Red Raven Games a must-buy for me. One nice thing about Above and Below (which is indeed the easiest game to teach) is that the end of the game always comes as a surprise to me. I love the world-building of the trilogy.
It’s really lovely :)
Wow, your beard sure grows fast!! 😉
I want this for the solo mode and it looks really fun.
This has finally shipped! I preordered it in august when you released this and i've been refreshing their website weekly looking for updates. Am so keen
My favorite Red Raven Games are Sleeping Gods and Ancient World 2nd ed. You should try them!
It’s clear from the glowing review that quackelope is on the take from red raven…with that said, I have 7 red raven games and my top 3 games of all time are sleeping gods, empires of the void 2, and the ancient world, all from red raven…
Never received a cent from them xD
I completely disagree. Yes, it was predominately compliments, but I definitely wouldn't say it was "glowing" or that they were "on the take". They also gave criticism for it. They just happened to think it was a really good game. Not all reviews or reviewers are going to have half positive and half negative comments. I mean, if I were to review DoomTown Reloaded or Classic Deadlands, I'd make it 90% complimentary too. It's not because I'm "on the take", but just because I happen to think they're both brilliant games.
@@Jester0405 it’s obvious you’re on the take for Classic Deadlands…I know he’s not…It was a joke..he said in his video he was sure to be accused of it in the comments, so I had to be sure to accuse him of it
@@shawns3911 You found me out! Haha! That's all good - I thought it was a bit odd that you made that comment when he'd specifically said in the video that he wasn't. :)
Brilliant! But after 3 hours of gameplay, I wish I had more of that sort of chat, like "my favorite part was when I did this, and you did that..." I like that you talked about that 3 hours felt like it flew by, but I hope you can say more of why! I"m really looking forward to the gameplay video if you come out with it! I'm already pre-ordered, but just love to hear more about Red Raven stuff. This game seems a lot more like Empires of the Void 2 than Near and Far. I'm curious about that! Thank you for the awesome content!
Can anyone tell me where I can watch the documentary they spoke about and what the title is? Thanks.
Yes please do a Ryan Laukat series playthrough!
What's the name of the documentary and where can it be watched?
I missed that awesome beard! Welcome back beard and goodbye again for the next video.
Nice SCPT impression at the beginning there.
I really like your input and review about this game. I only hope you can improve the quality sound. It’s a shame this kind of content has that real bad sound. I’m sure that improvement will help the channel in several ways! Cheers!
I live states away, but I wanna play!!
Jesse the Duck: "This is a game by Red Raven Games..."
Shira the Raven: "I'M IN!!"
Do only I hear some very low dungeon echoe audio effect?
I absolutely LOVE Ryan’s games. I am one of his biggest fans.
I have his signature on every game i have of his. So excited for this one. Now or Never looks AMAZING!!!
I have seen enough of this game from various content creators, to buy this game the moment it is available in my country.
Title of the video: How to grow your beard REALLYFAST!
More or less :D
@19:20 +1
How y'all gonna talk about never wanting to play Oath again and then you have it front and center up on your shelf?? Did you guys change your mind about it or what?
I just think they don't sell that often their games
What about ROAM?
If my primary gaming partner doesn’t like take that type games will she enjoy this one?
I enjoyed Near & Far, but the campaign focus didn't work for my group. People liked the game, but playing it a dozen times in a row? The encounter deck sort of worked, but it felt a bit half-hearted. Hope this one works better for one-offs.
If you want to play The Ancient World 2e and Roam, I'll sell them to you. 😃
I love you, quackalope but you should say first impressions instead of review in your title and it’s not the final production of the game. It feels like clickbait. Love your content, just a small criticism.
XD - the main title doesn’t have review in it - just the thumbnail.
@@Quackalope im not trolling? Ok it doesn’t say it in the title but most people look at the thumbnail and see that it has review in it? Still my criticism is valid. You got a lot of dislikes from your last video because of clickbait.
@@polymossimal totally disagree. Doesn’t feel like clickbait at all
@@cgrice1971 it’s fine to disagree. We probably have a different interpretation what a review actually is.
@@dougradcliffe1466 I dont think clickbait really matters when you trust the people making the clickbait. This is like soft, teasing clickbait. I enjoy it, and of course I skim through videos to find the info I need. Clickbait from people who I don't know, and who leave me feeling annoyed is definitely a totally different thing, in my opinion.
First! Quack!
Much Quack!
@@Quackalope I was confused by your "She left me" click-bait video. Is Shira your significant other?
Again with the clickbait🤪🤣 starting to see a trend there😜 really like her viscousness, don't mess with the raven 😁 do mess with your bedtimes please, sleep a little🙏
This isn’t clickbait xD
@@Quackalope semantics, click thumbs then 🤪😇
