No. It sits flat and secure right on floor and will not tip over with included feet. The tipping hazard warning only involves casters which Gladiator warns not to use.
Do you think it's possible to build this in an upright position? I only have 5 inches of ceiling clearance and don't think I can build it laying it on the floor.

Only if you had at least three people assisting you to hold everything in place (square and level) to counteract gravity.
