Hello everybody! I am a Brazilian gentleman and, in my opinion, the World Cup of 1978 was the best one ever!! Italian National Team was the best one among all of the others National Teams. Brazil was a good team too, but not mentally strong enough to win the tournament! The Dutches were amazingly violent and did not deserve even achieve the final match! Congratulations to Argentina, specially because of Menotti, Kempes, Passarella and, of course, Fillol! Just one more comment: Bertrand Demanes, the French goalkeeper, was seriously injured during this match (as we can see in the video). Friends, regards from Brazil and good luck everyone in the fight against Covid!!!!

Maybe it's an English thing. We've had a few calls go against us over the years - Hand of God, Sol Campbell Parts 1 and 2, Frank Lampard's 'goal' against Germany - and don't seem to get them out of our system. Perhaps, we should just accept we're not good enough.

He was 23 years old at the time and played also in the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976.
The young Michel Platini ,always calm & stepped up to score , to perform for France .. leading the emerging France into the golden years... this is something the modern days super star lack of ..maybe too many matches, different cups in a season, they can’t give their 100% like these players used to do

Si es cierto, fue error mio. lo cierto es que en esos dias todo lo grande de Argentina (futbolisticamente hablando) tenia el nombre de Kempes, como en el 86 el de Maradona y hoy el de Messi

That decision outraged people back then. It was an unintentional handball by Tresor and it was seen as one of many bad decisions that went Argentina's way. The current generation doesn't know football, so the rules had to be changed for them.
It was not because of the handball, it was because of the tackle just before.
Why did the French defence give Luque all that time and space?

If I remember correctly France were denied a legitimate goal in that match. The official had to keep the hosts in the tournament at all costs.
No idea about that but that penalty was a bit suspect. Back in 78 handball had to be deliberate ball-to-hand. Then you had the 2nd Group stage where Peru were bloody awful v Argentina.
