Jem is a very talented singer. Seeing this cover of "Maybe I'm Amazed" on the O. C. made me appreciate her album "Finally Woken". After a bit of effort I was able to get past the electronica overproduction which had put me off when I first bought the CD and listen to her voice. Now it is one of my favorite albums.

It's from "The Ties That Bind", the finale of the first season. I don't know the original version of this song, but I have to say Jem's version is lovely, and it fit these scenes very well. :)

As to the naysayers, why does every post on UA-cam automatically devolve into a "Who is better?" flame. Can't people understand that every artist of worth will ALWAYS take a different approach to covering a song. That is what makes them ARTISTS and not just hacks slavishly duplicating the original performer's approach to the song. Geez! Hearing good cover versions always makes me appreciate the original artist's work more, with fresh insight.

Paul McCartney's version is some I'd have to listen to in my car with the windows rolled up and hope that no one I knew drove past!
