- “Leg before wicket" cricket rules में 1774 में पहली बार आया जब batters अपने pads का इस्तेमाल करके ball को विकेट पर लगने से रोकने लगे। कई सालों की research के बाद LBW के rules में changes किये गये जैसे ball को कहां पर pitch करना चाहिए और batter के क्या इरादे हैं, क्या वह ball को खेलना चाहता है या सिर्फ pad से रोकना चाहते हैं। LBW MCC के cricket rules का 36वां rule है, जिसका मतलब है कि fielding team की appeal के बाद umpire एक legal delivery पर एक खिलाड़ी को LBW के तहत out दे सकता है अगर गेंद विकेट पर लगती लेकिन वह batter के शरीर पर जा लगी हो सिवाए उसके हाथों के जिनसे उसने bat पकड़ा हुआ हो। Umpire का निर्णय कई चीज़ों पर निर्भर करेगा, जैसे ball की pitching की जगह, क्या ball का impact विकेट वाली line में था? और क्या batter गेंद को मारने की कोशिश कर रहा था? सबसे पहले तो ball, no ball नहीं होनी चाहिए, उसके बाद ball या तो विकेट वाली line में pitch होनी चाहिए या फिर बल्लेबाज़ की offside में pitch होनी चाहिए, इस सबके बाद अगर ball बल्लेबाज़ की body को उसके bat से पहले hit करती है और वह ball का impact भी stumps के सामने है और Hawkeye के अनुसार फिर वह ball wickets पर जाके लगती तो बल्लेबाज़ को out करार दिया जाता है।
एक सवाल जो मैंने अक्सर देखा है क्रिकेट fans को पूछते हुए, कि बल्लेबाज़ को तब क्यों नहीं LBW out दिया जाता जब ball legside में pitch करती है? उसका पहला कारण है - blind spot। जब गेंदबाज़ leg-side से गेंदबाज़ी करता है तो बल्लेबाज़ की टांग बीच में आ जाती है, उसे पहले अपनी टांग को हटाना होता है और फिर shot को खेलना होता है, वैसे ही जब गेंदबाज़ off-side से गेंदबाज़ी करता है तो बल्लेबाज़ का bat पहले आता है और वो आसानी से shot खेल सकता है, इसलिए pitching outside leg वाली ball को out नहीं माना जाता। इसका technical point यह है कि, एक बल्लेबाज़ की leg-side उसका blind spot कहलाता है। मैं आप सभी से यह गुज़ारिश करूंगा कि आप एक सामान्य बल्लेबाज़ की तरह खड़े होकर position ले गेंदबाज़ को खेलने के लिए, अब बिना अपने शरीर या गरदन हिलाए, अपनी दोनों आंखों से leg-side की ओर देखने की कोशिश करें। आप अपनी leg-side वाली ball को उतने अच्छे से नहीं खेल पाएंगे जैसे आप एक off-side गेंद को खेलते। दूसरा, कारण है negative bowling, गेंदबाज़ negative line में गेंदबाज़ी करते रहेंगे, negative line मतलब outside leg stump वाली line। ऐसी गेंदों को मारना थोड़ा मुश्किल होता है। एक गेंदबाज़ के रूप में, आप अपनी पूरी fielding team को leg-side की ओर रखकर रनों को रोक सकते हैं और उम्मीद कर सकते हैं कि ball pads पर लग जाए। यह rule negative bowling को रोकने के लिए भी है। यह संभावित कारण हो सकते हैं कि pitching outside leg वाली balls को out नहीं माना जाता,

Yes blind side is perfect reason beside negative bowling , which only apply on test match. Waha bhi unpire call ot wide according to situation of match and etc. sitution jahan ball kam ho aur bowler ball wsste karne kei liye wide fenk raha ho so that batting team jeet na ske. Again about bkond side...leg spin bowling is absolutely most difficult as toyal blind and then comes on to off side... if you don't know. Batsman reverse sweep and shot isliye he khelte hei first ball good length pat hoti hei and slight leg par....

Just an ex: Agar 1 bowler ko 12-15 overs allowed ho one day me toh unhe jyada mauka mil sakta hai. Like batsmen can play 50% of their inning but bowler can only play 20% of their inning (10 out of 50 overs).

Outside leg rule is absolutely fine, but can you explain why impact outside off is given not out? Off side mein toh koi dikkat nahi hai, toh impact outside off agar ball stumps pe bhi lage, toh not out kyun hota hai?
Kyunki agar impact outside off hai toh ball ko turn karna padega wickets hit karne ke liye and you can never really know for sure ki ball kitna turn karegi. isliye impact agar wickets me ho toh decision clear rehta hai.

you can to an extent but it's never going to be accurate and sometimes the ball moves a lot. how will you know, how much the ball was going to deviate. You might have seen in test cricket that a straight ball sometimes starts moving too much after passing the stumps and keeper has to dive to grab it. giving LBWs on turning balls is very tricky so I personally believe impact outside off is fair to the batter.@@georgiopasca2720
Actually isme ek aur condition aati hai, agar batsman ne ball khelne ka intention dikhaya hai to outside off impact pe out nahi dete hai, aur agar wo sirf ball ko leg se rokne ki koshish kar raha hai to usme outside off impact bhi out ke liye consider kiya jata hai.
This is one of the best rules of cricket and should be continued with just because it’s a batters game you cannot give the unnecessary advantage to Bowlers where they can keeping hitting that ball outside the leg stump and get that ball to curve in which makes it impossible for a batsman to combat

Well I believe you are saying this because of 2 new balls being used from either end in One days if it would have been only 1 ball then reverse swing would have come into equation and that would make playing outside leg stump ball unplayable also consider test matches how will play those balls if the ball curls in from that spot at 145+ speed because as soon as the batsman tries bringing the bat down by then ball would have already stuck his pad whereas for instance if the same ball would have pitched outside off stump then because the ball is in line of stump it would have been slightly easier for the batsman to bring his bat down in time

For test cricket there's bazball and for the one-ball rule, have you seen batters play these days? you can bowl a really good delivery and it can still be smashed for a six by batters like SKY and this type of batting is getting more common day by day. Well first thanks for letting me know that Bazball exists let England play against India in India with their so called bazball and then we will decide whether this rule should exist or not and I hope to see Surya playing those extravagant shots on reverse swing ball will be quite a sight for sure I hope you saw what happened to England this time around,when you don’t adapt to conditions and keep playing with the same approach you will falter in England it worked all thanks to them knowing what conditions has to offer let’s take another example SA were scoring 350+ for fun on Indian grounds where the bounce was quite even but as soon as they came to Kolkata they collapsed not once but twice because they didn’t adapt
you are missing my point, if a team doesn’t perform well in certain conditions that doesn’t mean the game isn’t in the favour of batters. This game is becoming increasingly batting, scoring 300 in the 2000s was a big deal but now you see teams making 350s and 400s with ease these days. Bazball isn’t perfect but it is the next big thing in cricket with a few changes it will take test cricket by storm, its in the initial stages but it has the potential to revolutionise test cricket. More and more people will play those extravagant shots in test cricket, but these shots will need to be backed with cricketers like Pujara who can stay there and do the grind while someone like SKY, Pant, Stokes or Miller attacks from the other end. Day by day this game is going in favour of the batter and this pitching outside leg rule is outdated it was incorporated in the late 1800s and since the game has changed a lot, being a blindspot for a batter isn’t reason enough to continue this game. Should they not check pitching even if batsman is bowled down the leg?
So bowled and LBW are two different dismissals, they are inter-connected but batters are given out bowled even if the ball was deflected from the bat. and if you saw the entire video in the end I said that I believe pitching outside leg should be in bowler's favour. hope that answers your question. The ball should atleast hit an angle so it can hit one stump out of three if its touching the stump and not perfectly hitting the umpires gives as *not out or out* depending on the decision he has made before the players take review in simple

If the ball again slightly touches the stump or if umpire gives not out then umpires call should be counted as not out

My question might sound stupid, but why a batsman is declared out LBW if he intentionally 'Doesn't' make use of his legs to stop the ball? Not that I'm against LBW as a form of dismissal, just genuinely curious😅
Intentionally or non-intentionally, if the ball doesn’t make contact with the bat and the batter is given out LBW that means it would have gone on to hit the stumps and the batter's body stopped the ball from doing it.
Then why batsman gets kut if ball hits stumps not intentionally by batsman. Why give catch out if he does not give catch intentionally to fielder. Why give run out if he doesn't take run for intentionally slow run up.
Your point is not logically.
