Jessica Savitch is still one of the best anchors, interviewees, and reporters ever to grace TV. A tragic ending to what was a great career and could have gone on for decades. Still my favorite. Forever and a day.

WoW...I can't believe it's almost 40 years since her passing! What a role model for young women. Had she lived, television would have taken a different direction. And her talking about an upstart "CNN" and the beginning of a new PBS series "Frontline"....blows my mind.

Jessica was only about 35 (if this was 1982 or 83). It's not so much her looks, but she presented and carried herself very wise and "adult" which just made her seem WAY older, like a classy sophisticated 55 year old. Its hard for me to imagine women my age today looking like this lol

Such a great interview. And when Jessica talked about her late husband that was revealing. It's sad to know she was not ok and continued to destroy her life. Tragic that she seemed to have turned that corner after the Digest breakdown only to die in the car accident shortly after. "We all thought.... we would get our ticket stamped validated happily ever after." 05:27 So true. Just breaks my heart for her. Still optimistic that her love life would come through. But then a few months later she's dead. Her clinical response about her second husbands dead is sad. Not like that these days when people put it all out there.

I was 12 when she died and I was a serious news nerd and a turned on little kid. I’d watch her every chance I got because I thought she was beautiful, which she is. But until today after looking her up due to these videos, I had no clue she was 36. Still a looker, but she seriously looks like she’s in her early to mid 50’s. So sad though the way she died. Must have been so frightening.

Another thing that I found very weird about this interview was shortly before 1 minute and 42 seconds. Jessica Savitch says "This is the when you stop beating your wife question folks" moment, and smiles as if this is something very normal to say in an interview. That moment for me, I literally said, What The Fuck? If she really went through being beating by any man, or drugs, that's nothing to smile about, SERIOUSLY. When she said this, it made me look at her sideways, like lady you need some help. Domestic violence, abuse of any kind is nothing to smile about. That's a horrible thing to say, especially when you're being asked questions about your career.

@@sdnewsom4985 I think she meant if someone asked you when you stopped beating your wife and you answered, any answer you give would sound like you are admitting it's true. Just Before, He States In an Almost Regretful Way How Their Paths Almost Crossed at The Old Station. It is My Observance That Jessica Appears to Be A Cold Fish. But I Do Not Say This With Any Animosity. The Causes and Effects Of Her Own Decision Making have Manifested Tolls In Her Life. Right Out the Gate Of Life.
