Matt Corby is a fellow Australian. He wrote this song because he wrecked his friendship with best mate because he slept with his gf. His mate didn't forgive him. So u see the guilt, hurt, frustration and his foolishness in this song. Raw grit of heart and emotions.
I have never heard someone pick Matt’s Australianness from the opening, which is very much akin to Australian birdlife. Love that it gave you that vibe without necessarily knowing why
Yess - I’ll assume it’s from a couple things! In Canada we have beautiful indigenous artists and art that I’ve spent a ton of time around. Also, my friend Gabe wrote a song about a conversation he had with a bird in his yard and ever since then I just love whistling and melodic patterns like this. The Australian thing must have been a little luck! Thanks for watching 💛

I love watching people react to Matt who know about singing and realise just how impressive he actually is.
And the constant subconscious shaking of the head in disgust throughout with the realisation of how unfair it is that someone can do all of that 😂😂 (I have the same reaction every time 😂)

Man, you so need to just check out all of Triple J 'Like A Version'.... it's all brilliant... not just their songs but they do covers of old songs... and it's just as brilliant... I'm an Aussie woman in my 50's and I love this ... along with 'Tram Sessions'..... literally artists live on a Tram lol
